Happier employees result in better productivity and workplace atmosphere.
Getting almost two months of additional time off without losing pay is one of the best things. I don't know of anyone that gets a four day that actually thinks it's worse than a 5 day week.
I don't really enjoy 4x10 vs. 5x8. I work on a NOC and rotate shifts most weeks. Although, we have a dedicated overnight guy so that helps. Just throwing that tidbit out there as perhaps if my sleep schedule was better and more consistent, maybe my 4x10s wouldn't be so miserable. I find the 10 hour days so draining that I get nothing done after work and by the end of the 4 days I'm so tired I basically waste the entire extra day sleeping.
I also just seem to do better with a more consistent schedule where I know I've got that 1-2 hours most days to get something done. Laundry, cleaning something, workout, yardwork, other projects, etc - none of these things get done when I'm working 10 hour days.
