I can't wrap my head around it. I mean the fact that these moves originated from animation, and her she is animating the animations. Granted it's been a while since I last played these kinda games. But if my memory is still intact, these moves were from way before GMMORPH games became fully world wide.

When I think about these kind of exaggerated pulsing movements the first game that comes to mind is ocarina of time.

Switching between animations wasn't as smooth - and with limit poly count they used exaggerated animations to convey personality.

Not totally dissimilar to how clown make up originated from making face/emotions visible from far away in the big top.
