Hey, I recently got a Fuji Absolute 1.9 from the campus bike shop. I worked with Aaron to find the bike and everything that I need. I got the bike for $700, and the rest of the basic package, including a free helmet, a safety lock, and the lights, which in total sum up to $1000. I am wondering if this price is right? I am new in this area and am still just arriving at this area. But I heard good things about the bike shop, but somehow I felt a bit uncomfortable about the price because I felt like they told me the basic package included everything, and when I paid them, it somehow added to the price.

Thank you.

i know this question might sound stupid, but for me it's no a little bit of background, i'm not Amrican, i'm Italian, and moving to America is very "risky" ad difficult, the cost and everything, and my dream is to be a prosecutor, and soon i'm going to University, so, is it worth it?

Hey, I am planning a trip for my scuba diving to get a rescue cert in Lake Tahoe. I plan to do it the week of Oct. 28th. Since it will be a two-day program, I am looking for a scuba diving buddy on campus. I am open to either the weekend before or Oct. 28th + Oct. 29th, kind of thing. Is there a scuba diving community on campus? Thank you.

hi! is anyone travelling to chase from stanford for the phoebe concert?

are you guys taking the train/car? if there's enough people maybe we could split a lyft!

Hello everyone! I’ll be joining as a postdoc in January, moving over from London, UK.

I’ve seen a lot of conflicting opinions on living on campus vs. off-campus. Honestly, I’m quite tempted to live in SF proper, but I’m worried about the trade-off between having more of a social life in the city and dealing with the commute.

For those living at Oak Creek, how has life been as a postdoc? And for those living in SF, how do you find the balance between the commute and having a life outside work?

For context, I’m 25 (UK PhDs are shorter!), so I’d ideally like to hang out with grad students as well as fellow postdocs.

Would love to hear people’s experiences and any advice!!

Hi, I’m wondering if anyone with a single in Lagunita Court (Naranja, Norcliffe, etc) would want to trade for a single with one of the houses with a chef? We can arrange a deal/price.

DM if interested!

Hey for the first time I sent a package to the Newark location with my student ID appended to my name. However the delivery failed today and I’m not sure why. Does anyone know why this might have happened?

Hey everyone! I work on Stanford’s campus on weekends only, and I wanted to clarify how weekend parking works.

I usually park at Thoburn Garage and try to find a visitor parking spot, but those spaces tend to fill up by around noon, which makes finding parking pretty frustrating.

I’ve noticed there are also commuter parking spots (C Permit) with signs that specifically say “6 AM to 4 PM, Monday–Friday.”

I also checked Stanford’s official Transportation website, which states that commuter parking is enforced Monday through Friday, 6 AM to 4 PM, unless otherwise posted.

Source: Stanford parking
Based on that, I’m assuming C Permit parking is free on Saturdays and Sundays, but I wanted to double-check before risking a ticket.

Does anyone regularly park in C Permit spots on weekends without a permit? Have you ever had any issues or received a citation?

Just trying to make sure I’m following the rules. I’d appreciate any clarification. Thanks!

I'm an international student at Stanford, and honestly, I'm not doing okeh.

I've been having suicidal thoughts, and I don't think I'm in the right state of mind anymore. I don't really know how to approach CAPS or what to tell them. Can I walk in, or do I need an appointment? I'm struggling to even put what I'm feeling into words. If anyone's been through something similar, please tell me how you got help. I don't really know where to start.

I was class of '09. I've definitely come across a lot of people recently who have the impression that Stanford students are all super driven entrepreneur minded students aspiring to succeed in Silicon Valley and that just wasn't my experience. I met a lot of people who went on to live pretty normal lives. That being said, I definitely feel like the mentality of the average Stanford student I met during college was very different from the people where I live now. So what do you think sets Stanford students apart from others?

“Elite universities bring in foreigners to undercut the wages of American residents,” Vance said at a press conference regarding fraud and abuse in work visa programs. “There are nine universities in particular we believe merit an investigation.”

The vice president specifically called out Harvard University, Yale University, Stanford University, Brown University, the University of Pittsburgh, Arizona State University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the California Institute of Technology and the University of California, Davis.

Hi everyone! I work with Stanford Live, and we put together a super quick survey open to all Stanford students. By filling it out, you'll get a chance to win free tickets to a Stanford Live concert.

It only takes a minute or two, and your feedback will help a lot. Please only fill it out if you are a student (undergrad, grad, PhD) and have an associated Stanford email.

Thanks so much!! :)

I’ve unsubscribed from their emails multiple times, but they keep emailing and texting me. Every quarter they say I’ll get fired for not paying dues and in two years, that has never happened. What do I even do about this? I might be ignoring them, but I bet a lot of people have caved and paid dues they didn’t need to pay.

Found a phone on the ground around 10:50 am this morning near Packard Hall, please DM if it’s yours!

Does anyone know what drug test they use for new-hires in remote non-clinical roles? Specifically what type of test (urine/saliva/blood) and if they still check for THC?

Hello, i’m moving from Indiana to stanford on-campus housing, and need help and advice on the best and not crazy expensive moving company to pack/move my boxes.
Advice is appreciated!

Hello,
I am going to a concert this weekend at the Frost Amphitheater, and the parking is 150?! Anybody know of any garages nearby? I’m willing to pay just not 150 lol!

I'm from India. And this is the closest I can come to study as an undergrad psychology major (2024). I don't want to do a PhD. The website states taking GRE in these cases would be better but the concern is this alone won't be enough to bridge the gap I have for what's required for a strong application. Academically, what can I do? I'm planning to apply in 2028 and building a company in the meantime. But I'm stuck on what to do academically without guidance.

We're a group of Stanford students in a band and we're looking for a harsh vocalist who can growl/scream. Zero pressure here, none of us are professional musicians, we’re just looking to have fun playing music together. If things go well, it would be awesome to eventually play at some of the cooler campus events like Day N' Mayfield or Crochella!

If you’re down, shoot me a DM or drop a comment below!

This is going to be a good one!

What do you guys think about ms&e for an undergrad. I would really like to do real engineering but unfortunately I do not think I am built for that. Ms&e is an industrial engineering under the hood right? I am also not sure what I want to do in future and ms&e feels compelling. Thank you for advice.
