General Discussion Assuming Vader survived EP VI and Luke somehow convinced the New Republic not to execute him, would Leia have ever been able to reconcile with him?

Leia canonically reconciles with Vader in both continuities. (And a third ‘what if’ one as well lol)

I don't think she did in the Disney-verse. Hated him for years. It was only after Ben fell that she did make peace with it, I believe. But I'm not sure she neccarily forgave him until her deathbed. She forgave Anakin decades before that in Legends, and even named a son after him.

It was planned, but didn’t make it into, the Disney verse.

(And you’re exactly right in that it would have been a deathbed reconciliation, as the reportedly planned scene was Anakin visiting her as a ghost on her deathbed, and them reconciling as she died)

Reconcile as in "I accept he is my father, and I accept that he was/his force ghost is, genuinely converted" is one thing.

A true physical reconciliation, which I would regard as him adopting some kind of position in her life, a fatherly position even... come on. The guy tortured you, blew up your entire planet and all of your family, and was the perpetrator of so many crimes against humanity it's kinda hard to keep track.

You'd have to be a literal saint to forgive that and move on. Leia does not strike me as that person.
