White is obsessed with 'perfection' yet keeps around a visibly damaged Pearl. This seems out of character to me. Is it ever explained? Is there some lore i missed?

Pearl's story is genuinely one of the most painful in the entire show... like wdym she was literally made for Rose. They spent thousands of years together, fought a whole war together, and Pearl carried her biggest secret for all that time. And after everything, Rose decided to have a baby with some fatass rockstar, knowing she'd have to give up her existence for him to be born. And Pearl just had to live with that. Like how do you even recover from that

Remember Steven Universe Future episode Mr. Universe where Greg takes Steven on a road trip which leads them to Greg’s childhood home and Steven discovers his father’s childhood? I remember it and I remember Steven lamenting how his dad had a normal childhood because his dad’s life was seemingly normal while Steven spent his childhood saving the universe from the Great Diamond Authority.

I don’t blame Steven in any way for being angry at his dad for not giving him a normal childhood. If anything, it was justified because imagine spending your entire childhood fixing the mistakes of your mother despite it not being your fault and having to end a 5000 year war that had nothing to do with you. Greg had every opportunity to save his son from such a devastating fate but willingly chose not to because his biggest excuse was wanting to give his son absolute freedom. Unfortunately, having absolute freedom with no conditions or rules to keep you safe from the dangers of the world is what ultimately caused Steven to suffer from all of these traumatic experiences from all of his adventures with the gems, especially with not being able to go to school and receive education which will ultimately prevent him from getting a job in the future because he doesn’t have a diploma, which is necessary for a job.

However, if you look at these two images of Greg and his parents, along with the drawer of unopened letters Greg sent to his parents, you can see why he left his parents behind. Like seriously, Greg had every reason to leave.

Greg’s entire childhood was spent living up to his parent’s expectations and having no obligation to do whatever he wanted simply because anything his parents saw that they didn’t approve of was wrong. Greg said it himself, “Steven, I couldn’t do anything growing up. Everything I liked or wore or wanted was always wrong.”

Greg’s entire life was built around his parents and he had no say in what he wanted to do with his life. He wasn’t allowed to eat certain foods that he liked like tacos, he wasn’t allowed to wear clothes with cool designs on them, he couldn’t grow his hair to a certain length and worst of all, any kind of music was forbidden in that household. Greg’s dream was to be a famous musician. He wanted to go travel the world and make music but his parents refused it because they believed that his dreams didn’t matter and that he must continue to live by their rules.

There was even a time where Greg refused to go with his parents to Florida Island and his parents threw a fit because of it. Mind you that was the one time he rebelled against his parents and they lost their temper over it.

Eventually, Greg finally decided to pack his things, get in his van, drives out of town and never looks back. He even changed his last name because he wanted NOTHING to do with his family. The fact that you gotta change your last name to cut ties with your family and leave your old life behind just to embrace a completely new identity just shows us how much he heavily disliked living with them.

What makes this even sadder is that despite leaving his old life behind, he still tried sending letters to his family and make contact with them. This just shows that despite everything his parents did to him and despite everything that happened to him throughout his childhood, he still wanted to talk to them. He tried writing letters to them, calling them, he even sent invitations to one of his concerts because he wanted his family to see him perform.

Greg is such a nice guy and was willing to reconnect with his family despite everything they put him through. He’s willing to forgive his parents for the toxic, strict and abusive lifestyle they made him go through. He wrote those letters to his parents to let them know that he was okay, that he met some nice people like Rose Quartz and the Crystal Gems, got married and has a son named Steven. Seeing Steven holding the unopened letters sent to the house by his own dad just proves that his parents didn’t love him and wanted nothing to do with him.

Greg deserved so much better than the life he got and I wish the show had written the episode properly instead of making Steven lash out and get mad at his dad for not giving him a normal childhood. Yes, Steven was right in getting mad at his dad for failing to give him structure and a normal life, but if Steven took the time to understand the kind of lifestyle that his dad had, he might’ve come to a conclusion that his dad was right about the kind of lifestyle that was forced upon him and he was right in his decision to leave his parents behind.

Do you guys think Greg made the right decision to leave his family behind?

Yellow’s power seems to be only partially effective against Steven, but Blue’s appears to interact with his Gem part totally. He is as emotionally destabilised as the other Gems in her proximity.

Steven was definitely a lot more innocent back then, yeah, can we address that? There were some moments where you could just feel the trauma starting to bloom even if nobody else, not even Steven, seemed to realize it. For example, in the moment right after the one seen in the gif here the way he still had that happy grin on his face while looking horrified... Jesus Christ it was like watching him realize this is his life now, this show is beautiful but man can it be fucked up

Some questions I am left with: Why is Garnet pretty much the only one who takes him seriously? Why were the corrupted gems oftentimes more animalistic than monstrous like in the later seasons? I kinda liked them better more animalistic tbh. Why is Amethyst so painfully oblivious? What the hell was that thing that possessed the together breakfast? How do the corrupted gems have offspring?

Acabei faz uma semana steven universo e ainda sinto um vazio, normalmente quando termino alguma coisa boa sinto um vazio também, mas o de SU foi diferente, pq não foi tipo: nossa nunca vou ver nada melhor que isso (esse tipo de coisa que falamos no calor do momento), tem chance de alguma série mais pra frente eu gostar mais do que SU, mas é diferente. Sei lá, o vazio é de que eu nunca vou sentir nada igual com o que eu senti assistindo, esse tipo de vazio dói mais. Queria sugestões de outros desenhos que passam um sentimento semelhante à SU, porque não adianta ter alguma coisa parecida, quero que o sentimento pareça. Já vi hora de aventura e não se compara a steven universo nesse sentido, já vi além da parede do jardim e não é nada parecido também, a mesma coisa acontece com gravity falls.
