Characters Character shows off a skill that doesn't seem like anything special to the layman but is unbelievably impressive to those who know the craft.

  1. Giotto of Florence from real life. The pope wanted to commission a painter and sent a messenger to collect works from a bunch of artists so that he may examine their skill. When the messenger got to Giotto, Giotto simply freehand drew a perfect circle on a sheet of paper in front of the messenger. The messenger was confused, but Giotto told him that it'll make sense once he tells the pope how he drew the circle. Sure enough, the pope recognised the skill it takes to draw a perfect circle freehand without a compass and gave Giotto the commission.
  2. Johnny from The Devil Came Down to Georgia. While the Devil's solo sounds cooler on the surface, Johnny's solo is actually more difficult to play and showcases more advanced technical skill.

Wasn't he considered one of the kids with potential to be an All Might-tier hero in the future?

He was a candidate to inherit One-For-All until Deku came along

Not just a candidate, but the candidate to inherit OfA before deku came along.

No lie, like go deku and all that but I would have LOVED to see mirio using his quirk in tandem with the others in ofa.

The story would've been much shorter had they given OFA to Mirio (just like his life span)

While also really cool sounding, (semi-spoilers related to OfA as a whole) the human body can only handle 1 quirk. OfA's powers all count as OfA's quirk, so Deku and All Might only have 1 quirk. Mirio would have 2, and as shown by other holders of OfA, you age really quickly and die fast when you have 2 quirks and actively use them.

Didn't they say it is highly not recommended to do that because he would die really soon from the strain plus OFA would take his quirks as it gets passed on, but by the time it gets to Deku it has already become so strong that Deku was probably the last one to fully inherit it without issues? Adding another quirk to it basically guarantees it cannot be passed on anymore

Yeah, but could you imagine the NEXT guy?

Can't be a next guy. This was the final time the quirk could be passed.

Did you read/watch the series or are you just saying stuff? 😂

Your quirk must be the ability to dodge jokes and counterattack with words that make you look like a smug asshole.

Yes the emoji was to show how serious my tone was. Tf you think you got that up vote? Taking it back.

Yeah and then they squandered his character, he loses his fucking powers and stays a G, you expect his comeback to be epic but when he gets them back he's made to seem weak, the kid who's supposed to be an all might one day, the number one kid hero, and he does nothing special

I don't hate the ending like a lot of people but I hated what they did to my weird eyed lad

MHA is basically a prime example of wasted potential across so many characters. Even the protagonist doesnt escape from it.

He was too busy giving the villain too many non-defined powers to do any side character development

I did a re-read recently, and I was so mad this time because my favourite character, the invisible girl, was barely in it. That bit where they go to the mountains to practice, and everyone is told it's to push past their limits? It's never shown what she's doing. She's knocked out for the Bakugo rescue thing. I could go on and on.

Then when she's finally teased as being the mole, the tease doesn't last two pages before it's just shown as her watching the real one. She then goes and gets Deku, who then deals with it all.

Absolute fucking waste, from start to finish.

Not just that, but the final manga chapter shows that he is the top-ranked hero years after the end of the main narrative.

Deku, the protagonist and guy who defeated the final villain of the narrative thus saving the world (and admittedly then lost his powers and so had to find a new way to contribute) is ranked 4th.

Tbf Bakugo kinda stopped trying that hard after Deku lost his powers

Bakugo also loses a lot in the rankings because of his behavior issues.

To be fair Izuku is 4th after only like six months of hero work after being out of the game for 8 years, it’s pretty much guaranteed he’ll be number one soon.

In Deku's defense, he shot up to 4th in an extremely short amount of time, and he was still ranked in the double digits while retired, if I remember correctly.

Wouldn't be shocked if he were to take number 1 at some point in his future.

Really needs to be emphasized that personality plays a huge factor in the rankings, and not just strength. Mirio is the perfect balance of competency and personablity. Even Deku struggles with the latter. But Mirio always has a joke or smile to lighten the mood and take everyone else's worry away. He even accomplished this for Deku twice during major battles. Mirio is the epitome of making the best of a bad situation

It's honestly super impressive Deku hit 4 in what is essentially a borrowed iron man suit.

He was considered the strongest of the Big Three, the strongest three students at UA.

I believe Aizawa said that even among the pros Mirio has the most potential to be an All Might-tier hero

17

u/Remote-Monk-8542 25d ago

Not just kids, even among the pros.

While he was still in school Aizawa considered him the closest to becoming number 1, including Pro heroes

The guy was an absolute monster
