Hated Tropes Stupid Contrived Survival Stories

  1. 12 Feet Deep - Two idiots decide they absolutely positively MUST go swimming in a pool after it's closed. An incredibly contrived sequence of events happens so they get stuck in a pool. So the movie can happen.

  2. Frozen (not that one) - Three idiots decide they absolutely positively MUST get on a ski-lift after it's closed. To the point of bribing the operator who for some stupid reason doesn't say anything. Do the movie can happen. Also, Wolves are not that aggressive. They are typically shy and avoid humans.

  3. 47 Meters Down- Arguably the most believable scenario on this list. It's still really stupid.

  4. Fall- Two idiots decide to climb an abandoned radio tower without proper equipment that would make escaping their predicament trivially easy. Stop me if you've heard this one before

so the movie can happen.

Cave divers with a loving wife and two kids when they enter Satan’s urethra and get stuck and need to be rescued (who could have seen that coming)

I had to read this three times before my dyslexia stopped making me read this as Santa's urethra.

I read your comment like 5 times before realizing the difference was in "santa", not "urethra"

If I knew cave divers were making an attempt on my urethra, I wouldn't be laughing I'd be screaming for security!

As someone who has watched many stories about real cave divers and spelunkers getting into situations that go terribly wrong...

Yeah. This is real. The amount of newly weds and adults in charge of children is also very high.

From what I've seen, people fall into two main categories:

  1. Absolute amateurs who don't understand the gravity of the situation and all the things that could go wrong.
  2. Experts with decades of experience who seem to eventually think that they are such experts that they can handle anything.

Somehow, being in the middle seems like the safest spot. Experienced enough to understand the danger, inexperienced enough to know your limits.

Actually the safest spot is not going in the cave

Now I finally know why cave divers with a loving family get themselves into these situations: So the movie can happen.

You have got to feel sorry for the actual poor soul who has become the embodiment of this 'meme', but he really should not have gone caving without a partner, for that exact reason.

Oh man, The Mormon church made a movie about Nutty Putty. IDK if they thought the prayer scenes were supposed to lighten the mood or what.

I hate how accurate your description is to the shape of the hole in the gif....
