Hated Tropes Stupid Contrived Survival Stories

  1. 12 Feet Deep - Two idiots decide they absolutely positively MUST go swimming in a pool after it's closed. An incredibly contrived sequence of events happens so they get stuck in a pool. So the movie can happen.

  2. Frozen (not that one) - Three idiots decide they absolutely positively MUST get on a ski-lift after it's closed. To the point of bribing the operator who for some stupid reason doesn't say anything. Do the movie can happen. Also, Wolves are not that aggressive. They are typically shy and avoid humans.

  3. 47 Meters Down- Arguably the most believable scenario on this list. It's still really stupid.

  4. Fall- Two idiots decide to climb an abandoned radio tower without proper equipment that would make escaping their predicament trivially easy. Stop me if you've heard this one before

so the movie can happen.

That's also pretty close  to the Descent

I think the Descent counts for this though, ik it's technically a monster movie not a survival movie, but they end up down there because one of the girls decides on behalf of everybody that exploring mapped caves in lame and wouldn't it be more fun to jump into this unknown hole in the ground and just see what happens?

Yeah. The Descent is 100% this exact type of movie, just done extremely well and with a bunch of evil blind albino cannibal Gollums

The decent is a monster movie and has more than two girls, but definitely closer

Obviously The Descent is much better but I felt like it and 47 Meters Down were pretty comparable especially insofar as both are much better and more scary before the monsters/sharks.

You are a little slow, how exactly would 47 meters had been better before they encountered the sharks?

Well I mean without the silly CGI sharks chasing them around like movie monsters; when it's just them and the cage and no air and the bends to worry about. That's plenty to be incredibly terrifying!

Also that killer whale movie that came out recently. (I wrote that then went to look up the actual title which turns out to be Killer Whale… so…). Except instead of cheating with the lover, she had him killed, but literally delivered in the same sort of guilty-feelings reveal.
