Hated Tropes (Hated Meta Trope) Plot Holes that are not Plot Holes. There is an explanation if you bother to watch the movie

"Plot Hole": Why didn't Thanos just make the universe bigger to end overpopulation!

Explanation: Thanos wants to kill half the population to end overpopulation right? If he created more resources, the universe would just become overpopulated all over again. He explains this in his villain monolog. There are parts of his plan that make no sense (he's called the Mad Titan for a reason), but this one is actually explained. His plan was also to punish people for their greed, and making more food would not be much of a punishment. He also has a savior complex which makes him double down on his plan to prove he's right

"Plot Hole": Why wasn't the Death Star's exhaust port fortified!

Explanation: It fucking WAS. They had laser cannons surrounding the port because the Empire knew it was a weak point. The imperial general saw the rebels and chose to do nothing about it. He says "I think you overestimate their chances". Luke needed help from Han Solo, the disembodied voice of Ben and the Force in order to get the torpedoes into that tiny hole. Han even says that the shot was "one in a million".

For the thanos one, can’t you say the same thing in reverse? He is just prolonging the problem as the universe repopulates?

It makes a lot more sense to say that Thanos is an emotionally scarred crazy person. Rather then trying say his idea makes even a little sense

I don't know, in the comics his motivation is different, he just wanted to seduce death (no joke)

Tbh that feels like trying to seduce a janitor by spilling a whole bunch of applesauce on the floor.

Which is an accurate comparison because Death (usually) can't stand him. She finds him gross and obsessive.

seduce custodian by throwing tennis balls on the roof

What if the Janitor liked cleaning applesauce?

If you were a janitor, would YOU like mopping up applesauce?

Thats basically her reaction to it I think

She's too busy trying to have sex with Deadpool, which she can't because he's immortal so he only gets to see her for a few seconds between deaths

It's a problem of timing in the MCU. "Thanos doesn't understand how populations work" is extremely bad for the project of a godlike general advised by cunning devotees. "Thanos has it down bad for Aubrey Plaza and wants to impress her" is obviously understandable and fair.

He’s a confident moron.

Yeah, that’s one of the big threats about him

He believes that the universe will be grateful and will "learn from their mistake"

just like Old Testament God in the Noah story, except Thanos only killed half, unlike the other guy.

Which also doesn’t make sense because not every planet had suffered over population yet so they didn’t even make a mistake yet. Earth knows it will be a problem soon, and but it’s not really a pressing issue right now

In fact like the vast majority of the universe doesnt even know about him

To most aliens its just a super freaky day where lots of people evaporate and they can't tell how or why, then years later those same people reappear

He probably started a lot of religions

If they didn't, they will and should be grateful anyway.

At least that's how the Mad Titan thinks about it.

I’m not an evil supervillain, but by killing that many people, he makes the overpopulation of the universe everyone’s problem. If he just makes it bigger, “no one has learned a thing.”

But thats not everyone's problem, thats everyone suddenly not having that problem

To make it everyone's problem he'd need to make the universe so overpopulated that they get to agree its bad

You really think there are many people still alive who aren’t mourning the loss of multiple cherished loved ones, friends, role models, pets? That’s how it’s everyone’s problem.
