Hated Tropes (Hated Meta Trope) Plot Holes that are not Plot Holes. There is an explanation if you bother to watch the movie

"Plot Hole": Why didn't Thanos just make the universe bigger to end overpopulation!

Explanation: Thanos wants to kill half the population to end overpopulation right? If he created more resources, the universe would just become overpopulated all over again. He explains this in his villain monolog. There are parts of his plan that make no sense (he's called the Mad Titan for a reason), but this one is actually explained. His plan was also to punish people for their greed, and making more food would not be much of a punishment. He also has a savior complex which makes him double down on his plan to prove he's right

"Plot Hole": Why wasn't the Death Star's exhaust port fortified!

Explanation: It fucking WAS. They had laser cannons surrounding the port because the Empire knew it was a weak point. The imperial general saw the rebels and chose to do nothing about it. He says "I think you overestimate their chances". Luke needed help from Han Solo, the disembodied voice of Ben and the Force in order to get the torpedoes into that tiny hole. Han even says that the shot was "one in a million".

Except that Grant somehow already knew about it before they even got to the island. When he’s scaring the child, he mentions that a T-Rex’s vision is based on movement.

How. How does he know that.

In the book it makes sense because he DOESN’T know this and only realizes it when he becomes too scared to move and becomes a deer in headlights. This trait is explained as a biproduct of the amphibian DNA, because a predator not being able to see prey if they’re not moving is kinda counterproductive to the whole predator thing.

I would love a new take on Jurassic Park in which the protagonists exploit the mixed biology of the dinosaurs to defeat them.

JP T-Rex is not the apex predator of olden times; he's a nerfed one thanks to scientists including DNA from non-predator species to fill in the blanks.

Sorry, all you get is a raptor friend fighting various dino-mutants

We need book accurate Gennaro to make an appearance to fistfight some raptors. The first movie really screwed up by killing off their best (sober) fighter.

I dunno frogs would be terrifying if they were bigger. They're like the most efficient animal on Earth. Just a mouth with legs. The legs only exist to bring the mouth to food.

I love that in the next book this is explained to be a mistake, and i think is explained as the trex being confused by its prey not moving. The book then has one of the bad guys try this with the t rex because he'd heard about it working on the first island and is immediately eaten

But in the second movie it's explained that a T Rex has an enormously sensitive nose, in order to set up the hilarity of Rex in a tent.

This after the Rex in part 1 had Grant's stinkyness literally right under its nose.

I think Spielberg knew this and changed it. And he was right to do so cause it's a timeless legendary scene

It was the same with the raptors, Grant somehow accurately knows about their ‘one remains visible as a distraction while the attack comes from the sides’ hunting tactic, despite the fact that that shouldn’t be at all visible from fossils.

In the book they actually see it play out with the caged raptors shortly after arriving, which makes much more sense
