Hated Tropes (Hated Trope) Endings so awful they completely destroy the legacy of the media.

  1. Two and a Half Men's final episode teased Charlie Sheen's character coming back and going to harm the other characters whilst also having insults to his character and Charlie Sheen himself. It's clear the director had a grudge and the ending where his character comes up to knock then get crushed by a piano before it cuts to the director before he says "winning" before getting crushed by another piano
  2. This was an upbeat animated show about a magical teen princess. The writers desperately wanted a romantic endgame for her and her best friend, but the way they got there was essentially multiversal omnicide. To stop a villain, the main character unilaterally decides magic is the root of all evil and destroys it entirely. By doing this, she casually commits mass genocide against every purely magical being in the multiverse. It also triggers a massive apocalyptic event that violently crashes different dimensions together into a chaotic hellscape. But the show frames this horrific, mass-extinction catastrophe as a sweet, triumphant ending just because two teenagers get to hold hands in the rubble (Star Vs The Forces Of Evil)

Sex Education. The whole final season was a disaster.

It was like they spent the whole season lecturing the audience instead of telling a story

Not the whole thing. Adam's arc, which was entirely divorced from most everything else, was great. But yeah generally awful with a huge focus on characters who haven't had time to endear themselves to the audience coupled with just terrible choices for the direction of series mainstays (wtf was Eric's plot line? Just terrible). Overall can tell they weren't sure where to go and with huge parts of the cast moving on the entire thing was mostly garbage.

The respectful French atheist hottie “not being what he needed” was so confusing. Like, on the one hand, sure, maybe not compatible. But it felt like a fuck you to secular people. Particularly a secular gay like me.

Last season felt like a show that had been cancelled then picked up by Netflix for a revival, given the change of setting and big cast changes. No idea wtf they were thinking

That new school full of caricatures that apparently always existed in the show was beyond the pale. Before that last season, the show was relatively grounded in its exploration of sexuality. But, holy shit, apparently this Mecca of sexual freedom has always existed and just down the road, too, I guess.

Then Eric is talking to God. Yeah.

The Otis and Ruby relationship was actually interesting in the previous seasons and showed potential for growth. Then that was just shit on, with Otis's character just being "asshole". Ruby could have been the endgame and I would have supported it.

The new school and characters felt less like actual people and more like the nightmare of some far right talk show host.

You can’t convince me that they were not mocking people with how they did that final awful season.

Also obligatory justice for my girl Ruby.

You didn't think so?

They introduced a huge cast of new characters in the final season, that seemed to just be caricatures to explore specific issues.

But the biggest issue to me is they turned Otis from a awkward but genuinely caring person into someone who is incredibly selfish, constantly jealous, s terrible friend to Eric, and just repeating mistakes he should have learned from two seasons earlier.

Once you have done the character development you can't then go back and do it again.

As for Otis and Maeve the actual conclusion to the story could have been good but they spent their limited time together with totally manufactured drama. We had 3 seasons of missded connections and misunderstandings and poor timing and now they are together and they are trying to make this long distance work but we didn't get a chance to enjoy their relationship at all so I didn't give a shit when they then were like ok forget it.

Sex Education went from exploring emerging teen sexuality by saying it's ok to be straight/gay/bi/pan/whatever to pretty much saying straight people are bad.

Apparently it was rewritten in the editing.
