Hated Tropes (Hated Trope) Endings so awful they completely destroy the legacy of the media.

  1. Two and a Half Men's final episode teased Charlie Sheen's character coming back and going to harm the other characters whilst also having insults to his character and Charlie Sheen himself. It's clear the director had a grudge and the ending where his character comes up to knock then get crushed by a piano before it cuts to the director before he says "winning" before getting crushed by another piano
  2. This was an upbeat animated show about a magical teen princess. The writers desperately wanted a romantic endgame for her and her best friend, but the way they got there was essentially multiversal omnicide. To stop a villain, the main character unilaterally decides magic is the root of all evil and destroys it entirely. By doing this, she casually commits mass genocide against every purely magical being in the multiverse. It also triggers a massive apocalyptic event that violently crashes different dimensions together into a chaotic hellscape. But the show frames this horrific, mass-extinction catastrophe as a sweet, triumphant ending just because two teenagers get to hold hands in the rubble (Star Vs The Forces Of Evil)

Terminator Series. Peaked at 2, and each following movie was worse than the last.

The Sarah Connor chronicles was awesome and Salvation was a fun look at post judgement day. I also heard the anime was good too. Most of the movies suck because they are just rehashes of T2 over and over

SCC was one of my favorites when it was on. I don’t remember it getting a lot of hate back then. Shame it was cancelled at a cliffhanger.

I didn't watch it at the time - it wasn't on channel I had - but I did go back to it a few years later.

Its really good, and Shirley Manson is an inspired casting choice. Like you say it ends on that cliffhanger which is a shame as the machine on machine civil war story had potential and was different to rehashing the human vs machine war.

Salvation's biggest problem was the marketing, they spoiled the 'twist' in the first trailer and it just really made the movie uninteresting.

I mean, that was a problem with T2 as well. So I guess it's just tradition.

It wasn't just that. Humanity was supposed to be scraping by, doing everything it can to combat the machines.

Instead we got guys with full on ipads broadcasting digital signals, magnetic bomb protected high tech silos, full heart transplant operational capacity, it was too much.

I mean in T1 Kyle said that humans ended up winning. Which is why the Terminators were sent back to begin with. Salvation makes the war seem hard but not insurmountable.

I loved the show so much.

SCC was stellar. Can't believe they axed it.

I feel like I'm one of the few people who genuinely enjoyed T3 and salvation

3 is mostly mid but that gut punch ending is so well done and memorable. Completely redeems the whole thing.

But they made the Terminator a hot chick that could increase the size of her BOOBS.

Absolute cinema.

I agree with your assessment, Big Balls.

T3 was just weak comparatively. Salvation was good, but again they're being compared to two genre defining classics that are cultural touchstones to this day. It's like coming on to do a stand up gig after Robin Williams is walking off stage. Unless you're on the same level, people will view you negatively.

I really enjoyed the peek into the Post-apocalypse Salvation brought, it was really well done.

They were so much better then genesis or dark fate

I consider those two as just fanfics

That’s just a insult to fanfic writers lol

T3 was fun but it wasn't great.

It’s fine but the first two are untouchable

I defend Salvation to this day. The twist on the time travel trope was good, and we actually get to see John meet Kyle (!!!).

Absolutely loved Salvation for its setting as well. I wish it would have gotten some sort of sequel, but alas...

T2 is just too perfect. The only way to continue from there is with an extended universe that's less ambitious. Let T2 be the jewel in the crown, and give us a gritty TV show following the parallel stories of Enrique and his future granddaughter in the resistance.

I don't know why the last two movies wanted to kill John Connor. Like thanks to let me know that the second movie was pointless and he dies soon after, what a surprise now the new John Connor is a girl...

I hope you got to go see the T2 stunt show at Universal before it closed, that show was better than all those crappy sequels combined 🤩

As incredible as T2 is, I think it can also be argued that it's a bad sequel. It ruins the closed loop plotline of the original film.

T3 had the balls to start the war, t4 5 and 6 should have been about the war

If there is no t4 there is no real sequel

Maybe unpopular opinion amongst 40-somethings, but Terminator peaked at The Terminator and making the second one a film about a boy and his dog (the T-1000 is the dog) was funny as a kid's movie, but weird for a sequel.
