Hey all, I finally got around to activating user flair. We’ve got several options, including various automotive brands (please let us know if I forgot any) and an editable one where you can add your make and model (or whatever you want, I guess) to your flair.
”That’s great, but how do I change it?”, some of you are asking. On mobile, you go to the sub page, touch the three dots in the upper right corner, choose “change user flair”, and go from there. The process is similar on desktop. If it doesn’t work for you, comment here and we can change it for you.
Edit: and now post flair is available too!

🇯🇵🔥** Preserving Japan’s Automotive Underground: A Journey Through the Showa and Heisei Eras
Hello everyone!
I’m from Okinawa, Japan, born in 1982, and I’m a former member of Japan’s Bosozoku subculture.
Today, I dedicate my time to preserving and documenting the history of Japan’s classic motorcycles, vintage JDM cars, Kaido Racers, and the unique youth culture that existed throughout the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s.
**This isn’t just about cars and motorcycles. It’s about preserving a piece of Japanese history.
🚗 The Golden Age of Japanese Street Culture
Before smartphones, social media, and modern car culture, young Japanese enthusiasts created their own automotive identities.
From the legendary Nissan Skyline Hakosuka, Kenmeri, and Japan models to Toyota Mark II, Cresta, Nissan Laurel, Cedric, Gloria, and Mazda RX-7, these machines became symbols of individuality and creativity.
Motorcycles such as the Honda CBX400F, CBR400F, Kawasaki Z400FX, Z2, Suzuki GS400, and GT380 were equally important.
Extreme body kits, dramatic exhaust designs, custom paintwork, low suspension setups, and handcrafted modifications gave rise to a uniquely Japanese automotive aesthetic.
🔥 The Stories Behind the Machines
As someone who experienced Japan’s Bosozoku culture firsthand, I believe these stories deserve to be preserved.
I’m not here to glorify reckless riding, violence, or dangerous behavior.
My mission is to document the actual history, craftsmanship, friendships, regional differences, and personal experiences behind this extraordinary period of Japanese youth culture.
Some of these groups no longer exist.
Many legendary vehicles have disappeared.
And sadly, some of the people who lived through those years are no longer with us.
But their stories shouldn’t disappear.
📸 Rare Historical Photographs and Footage
Through my YouTube channel, 大人BIKE/人刻【HITOKOKU】, I share rare photographs, historical videos, and firsthand accounts from people who experienced these decades.
I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who has helped preserve and share these valuable historical materials.

❤️** More Than Nostalgia — A Record of Lives Once Lived
Every old photograph tells a story.
Every custom-built machine represents someone’s passion.
Every historical recording captures a moment that can never be recreated.
I want younger generations to understand what Japanese automotive culture was really like, while giving those who lived through those decades a chance to reconnect with their memories.
The past cannot be changed, but its history can be preserved.
**Different people. Different backgrounds. Different lives.
That’s the spirit behind HITOKOKU — the belief that every individual has their own story.
I’m also interested in hearing from international enthusiasts who remember this period or have questions about the history behind these machines.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and for helping keep this history alive.
Respect from Japan! 🇯🇵🤝🇺🇸

🇯🇵🔥 A Look Back at Japan’s Legendary Showa-Era Street Culture
Long before today’s JDM scene became popular worldwide, Japan had a distinctive underground car and motorcycle culture.

I put together a video exploring Japan’s wild and unforgettable car and motorcycle culture during the 1980s Showa era.
Long before social media, Japan had an incredibly distinctive underground automotive scene.
From heavily modified Japanese classics to outrageous kaido racers, bosozoku motorcycles, and rebellious youth fashion, this was a completely different world.
Some of the legendary machines featured include:
Nissan Skyline “Kenmeri”
Nissan Skyline “Japan”
Nissan Laurel “Butaketsu”
Nissan Cedric / Gloria 430
Toyota Mark II / Cresta GX71
Honda CBX400F
Massive spoilers, aggressive body kits, slammed suspensions, custom paint jobs, and unmistakable Showa-era styling defined the scene.
But there was more to this culture than modified vehicles.
The fashion, music, rebellious attitudes, and close-knit groups were all part of Japan’s youth culture during that period.
I’m from Okinawa, Japan, and was personally involved in the bosozoku scene during my younger years, although I belong to a later generation.
My goal is to preserve the history, memories, and unique automotive culture of that era—not to glorify dangerous driving or violence.
For anyone interested in Japanese classic cars, vintage motorcycles, or the history of Japan’s underground street culture, I hope you’ll find this interesting.

Which 1980s Japanese car or motorcycle would you most want to own today?
And has anyone here experienced Japan’s original kaido racer or bosozoku culture firsthand?
