📌 MEGATHREAD 📌 MEGATHREAD — Week of October 18, 2026 for Pricing, Dating, ID, or Authentication Requests

**Post all new requests in this thread — a fresh one goes up at 9am ET every Sunday, so make sure you're in this week's before posting.**

We want this sub to stay a great resource for learning about vintage fashion, but we've seen a rise in low-quality posts from resellers. To keep quality high, please use this thread for pricing, dating, identification (ID), or authentication requests — posts made outside it will be removed.

To get the best answers:

* Share any research you've already done — comps, similar sold listings, brand history, etc.

* Include photos of labels, tags, or any identifying marks — these often hold the most useful dating clues.

* Include photos of zippers, snaps, or other hardware — zipper style/brand is a common way to date an item.

* Note visible wear and condition (stains, fading, repairs, missing pieces) — this significantly affects valuation.

* Mention fabric/material and any construction details (stitching, seams, care tags) if visible.

Posts asking for pricing, dating, ID, or authentication outside this thread will be removed. Thanks!

bought a beautiful vintage sears dress, apparently 1960s maybe 1970s mini dress! I was wondering if anyone had or knew any information about this piece and if it’s truly vintage or not! 🙌

A beautiful find! I love how vintage prints mixed animal patterns with other designs. I'm an environmental educator so I love the white oak leaves. It's a little hard to see under my hair hit the neckline had a horizontal diagonal button. My mom hates this shirt and it's one of my favorites. 😊

This brand seems to be founded in the 1971. Not sure if it's the same company called Eccobay Sportsware that filed for a trademark in 1979. If anyone knows more history, I'd be cur

Earlier this year I moved my sewing gear into our guest room. Ever since then I have been putting my personal touch on the room by hanging stuff on the walls. Stuff = vintage clothes/shoes. Makes me very happy to be in there.

ADVICE PLZ Vintage shops London for this style

Thumbnail

Hi there!

I’m looking for vintage shops that have dresses in the following styles in London. I’m aware that these are couture dresses, just added this per illustration. I’m not looking for big brands, but was wondering if there are any markets / shops that sell dresses in this style.

I’ve searched on this forum and found the following shops/markets:

- Beyond Retro Dalston
- Storm in A teacup
- Nordic Poetry
- Y2K Vintage
- Hunky Dory Vintage
- Brick Lane Market
- Pennies Vintage
- Karen Vintage Boutique
- 282 Portobello Road
- Oliver Vintage
- Lime Green Bow
- Portobello Road Market (Saturdays)
- Lovers Lane

Are any of the aforementioned places any good for the type of dresses I am looking for? Any other recommendations?

Budget is around £150.

Thank you!

INSPO Six Ivy/trad-inspired outfits: patterned knits, sweatshirts and shirts

Three comparisons from my outfit photographs: a cricket knit and Fair Isle under different jackets; two sweatshirts with different outer layers; and rugby stripes beside madras under denim. These are Ivy/trad-inspired combinations, not a claim that every garment is a vintage original.

1970s Day Off, Another Opportunity to Dress up

Had a day off, so I wanted to show off my new (to me) sweater while shopping at the local vintage and antique shop. Purchased this one from eBay also. It is a 1970s DonnKenny sweater with a tie belt and a half-length metal zipper up the back. I also sported my vintage 70s sunglasses today. Again, my jeans are newer. Heck, they may even be vintage. I got them at Savers a couple of years ago, they definitely are not new.

Hey!

I have these polyester 70s pants. fit fine everywhere else, but fabric really pools in stomach and waist, despite the fact their not big in those areas for me. ive had other people try them on w different measurements and same thing happens. has anyone else experienced this with this era of pants?

Symmetrical tears around the collar of my vintage mink fur coat. I just purchased this from a consignment store a couple weeks ago, and I haven’t had the chance to wear it yet. I’ve been storing it on a wide hangar. I’m not sure how it was stored prior to being in my possession. There doesn’t appear to be any other rips except these two.

I’m thinking of taking it to a furrier. But these years appear quite fragile, I’m wondering if it’s even worth it. I paid $370 for this, it was the coat of my dreams. any thoughts? Thank you

The shop owners said the guy who donated it to them was from the states but the sizing label had been cut off so I wasn’t even sure if it would fit until I tried it on! As soon as I did I told them I’d take it - was only £65 too!

2000s (Pre 2006) Found this early 2000s Rip Curl "Built for Riding" stroboscopic hoodie with the classic Future Evolution tag!

Hey everyone! I finally tracked down this amazing early 2000s Rip Curl pullover hoodie in a faded navy/slate blue.

What makes this piece so cool and representative of the era is the front graphic: it shows an orange stroboscopic sequence of a snowboarder mid-flip, which perfectly captures the Y2K extreme sports boom. It also has the classic "Built for Riding" text under the wave logo.

I included a photo of the neck tag because it features the iconic Rip Curl "Future Evolution" design with the four distinct tech symbols across the bottom. The fit is beautifully thick and baggy.

ADVICE PLZ Best undergarment for small vintage skirts?

I've collected a few vintage skirts over the years, but some of them are an inch or two smaller than my waist measurement and how well they fit depends on weight fluctuation. A couple of them, I can do up the zip but not the waist band, I thought about trying to add something like a loop or hook on the ends to allow for looser fit, but then you get visible zip issues, and if there are old button holes you can't get rid of them. I got into a bit of a panic after one skirt that I wore a lot got the check pattern on the waistband warped due to pulling and had to get it patched over, still kicking myself hard over it.

So, I was thinking it would probably be best to try a girdle or corset, but unsure what's best. I already tried a cheap softish cotton corset with plastic boning found at a vintage shop, but I can't seem to reduce more than a half-inch with it and it doesn't help fit with small skirts any, just adds support for belts or skirts that are a bit snug but already fit. I had been interested in Regency style or 1830s-40s style stays for a while because they look the best for everyday casual wear & back support due to straps but unsure if you can get a reduction of 2 inches with those. With girdles, the problems are that I prefer non-synthetic fabrics, I don't wear stockings (over knee socks occasionally but not of that length), and the longer ones look annoying to use the bathroom in, this also applies to the Edwardian style corsets. (Similar issues with longline bras, I'm really interested in them but don't know if non-synthetic ones exist, so I pretty much just wear cotton sports bras over a shirt... I get very sad seeing cute lace bustiers in the vintage shops lol, but they are usually too big in the bust anyway, I'm like an A cup or B at most)

What would be best option? If I go for a corset is it better to go for a steel boned one?

Hi all,

I've bought this 60s/80s woolen dress suit that i love, but i dont know what shoes to wear with it. Ideally I want to wear this to the office but im wary it looks more like a costume then anything, what kind of shoes should i be wearing that gives me a contemporary look but i still look smart?

Im open to buying a different pair of shoes but ive tried it on with tan ankle boots and knee high chocolate brown boots and i still dont really know.

Open to any suggestions.

Thanks for all the feedback. I'm going to play around and explore all your suggestions
