This exact same thing happened to us. They took several passengers carry on bags as we tried to board. This was at an airport where a bus drove the passengers to the tarmac and you board via a staircase.

Luckily my seat was facing the people loading the luggage and watched them start throwing bags into the plane. Even more violently than this video.

I had a 35mm camera and a laptop in that that bag and started panicking. I jumped up and ran to the front of the plane and tried to go out the door. This set off the flight attendant who wasn't too interested in my situation. I got louder about what was happening and the captain came out. I quickly explained and he said he would handle it. He ran down the steps and started screaming at the workers. He told me to come outside and show him my bag, luckily it hadn't been thrown yet. He took the bag and then absolutely tore into the workers. He took their names and basically told them he was reporting their behavior.

We go back on the plane and he tells the flight attendant to place my bag with the flight crew bags.

Laptop is problematic because of the battery and the potential for a fire if it's damaged.

My guess is the pilot was a camera guy

Every Pilot I've met was an autistic man.

They understand the love and respect of the inanimate.

This is not typical treatment in this timeline. Surprised you weren't taken down by the sky cop.

Shittyprolifetip. Tell them you have a laptop in the bag even if you dont, and therefore due to fire risk it should be in the cabin.

Even better, tell the flight attendant there is a pressure sensitive bomb in your carryon and you need to hold it properly for the rest of the flight or it will go off. It will definitely get their attention.

Yeah and when I asked a captain if he cares about the luggage being thrown around he responded with "As long as it ain't mine."

Some people care and some don't it's all about the turnaround time and was the plane late landing at your station. If they see that they're gonna be late they don't even say nothing as long as they're out on time it's fine by them.

Ok so from now on, always carry one of those nylon tote bags that folds up into its own envelope. You can take our super delicate or important stuff and put it into the nylon bag and take it on board, never check this shit

I understand that they should handle with more care, but check in a bag with fragile items such as a camera and laptop?

He had it in his carry on, but the flight attendants were making them check the bags instead.

At which point you explain. Most FAs will try find a solution because you're not meant to check in laptops.

Mine didn’t. She just got a “not my problem” attitude with me and insinuated I could not board if I didn’t figure something out about the electronics in my bag. There was plenty of space in the bins too, but they weren’t asking for volunteers, it was mandatory.

Next time explain that your medical supplies are in there. Don't say anything else, they should just let you go. If they push you then tell them you need access to this bag of medical supplies or you will die during the flight.

That's why I use a backpack as my personal item. Anything fragile goes in that, and I will never have to check it.
