Had to gate check my carryon…

…and then watch the fellas manhandle it from my seat while waiting to de-plane. 😑

I’m just curious as to why you would always decide to buy super fragile things when travelling by plane

Only thing missing is a Faberge egg 🤣

Oh 007, I told you to carry it on.

Jesus this website.

-The people at the airline keep breaking my things "don't buy fragile things"

-My mechanic is overcharging me and holding my car hostage "don't get into car accidents"

-I ordered pizza and it came upside down and covered in shoelaces "don't buy pizza"

It's reasonable to expect certain services to be performed a certain way, and not engaging with the world anymore isn't a solution.

There's idiots everywhere.

Since you have never flown before, let me explain.
Inside the airport are places called duty free shops that sell items that are about 80% packaged in glass containers that travelers put in their carryon luggage
These idiots must be new, because they will get fired on the spot if a liquid spills out of a bottle they broke inside a carryon leaks all over the baggage trolley and it has to be taken out of service to be cleaned
Shout out to a particular Twin Cities airline who did exactly this and had everyone’s carry on smelling like SoCo

I agree these people are assholes and need to be fired, but given the heightened probability that your luggage will be treated like a football wouldn’t it be prudent to buy a more robust gift at the gift shop

This is this one person's personal example, but you do realize some person has to fly to work while carrying with them relatively fragile equipment right? And that the same would also apply?

It's only heightened probability if you're American. This doesn't usually happen in a lot of other countries. People aren't smashing my shit in Canada, the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Korea, China, etc.

I guess it matters if you pay your baggage handlers well

Lol, as if anyone in their right minds would buy SoCo in a duty free shop, let alone carry it in a duty free shop.

My dude, a bottle of liquor is not the same as a tea set. The glass bottle is designed as a transport mechanism and holds up to way more abuse.

At least learn how to pack them properly if you’re going to do it. Those are items you wrap with bubble wrap or your clothing to cushion it.

I mean the obvious answer is to blame the traveler rather than expect a modicum of care from the company you're paying thousands to to do a job, which is to get you and your belongings safely from point a to b.

This is the dumb expectations issue I always point out . People have no personal accountability but expect strangers to care and think about their personal items more than they do.

Victim blaming is weak. Stop it.

They did nothing wrong by expecting respect and courtesy from strangers. Repeatedly. They are not the problem. They are also not naive. They just happened to cross paths with 4 inconsiderate assholes.
