How are you feeling about our tech evolution?

Every day I’m thankful I grew up in a pre-internet world, and that I’ve been able to witness the tech evolution that got us to where we are today.

Maybe it’s AI being pushed absolutely everywhere, the surveillance cameras popping up on my neighborhood streets, social media being a cesspool for our society, or everything getting wildly expensive, but I’ve found myself starting to feel disgusted by the tech world. I used to be the guy who needed the new smart phone, needed the new gaming console, needed the new fancy gadget. Now I’m looking up how to transition to dumb phones and old school mp3 players. I don’t want any part of this anymore.

Are you still all in and excited by new tech, or do you feel completely burnt out and over it like I do?

I just want to know where all the free time we were promised with the tech evolution went.

This is why I don't buy the luddite AI bait. Those god damn computers and our managerial master class are going to think up of so many demeaning and redundant forms of work that it will make our heads spin.

We'll be hauling lithium, bare-handed, from the mines ourselves, so the expensive robots don't get dirty.

We should be working 32 hours, 4 days a week by now with how productivity has increased.we didn’t even get our income to keep pace….. but hey, at least all those CEOs have gotten 700% raises! Someone has to think of the rich!

Yeah, my company laid off thousands of employees and anyone left standing is expected to use AI to do the work of 4 people with no pay increase. I work 50-60 hours a week and haven't had a weekend off in months. I'm expecting to be impacted in the next round of layoffs. A utopia indeed.

I spend mine reading books, watching movies, listening to music, sports, hobbies and video game and I have a ton of free time now without all the pointless waiting in lines that we used to do.
