Political Question Are Republicans inherently selfish?

Not referring to every individual obviously but as a whole, compared to democrats/independents they seem to really only care about themselves or their immediate family and pretty much have a “f**k em” attitude towards literally everyone else. Does anyone else feel this way?

This would explain why so many are against social policies but have no issue dumping much more money into the military instead, for example.

Do churches count as charity? And if so, does it matter how the church spends the money? Do we discount the mega-preachers who use the money for private jets like Osteen and Kenneth Copeland?

Church clergy are among the lowest paid professions that require a degree. Also while I'm not a fan of him Joel Osteen does not receive a salary from his church, he is rich because people like his books and speeches

I had a family member "donate" by buying a bench and having a deceased family member's name engraved on it. No one used the bench after like a month.

Another bought a chandelier that was on sale and donated it, it went in a back room that seldom got used.

Just because it's a "donation" does not make it useful. Sure these are anecdotal, but it's two examples of donations that I wouldn't count as "charity".
