A few days shy of 18 weeks and suddenly a small meal feels like I just gorged myself on a super size McDonald’s meal. Please tell me I’m not alone 😂🥲

Rant/Vent Friends and family are making me feel crazy for 2.5 year age gap

Ive recently announced im pregnant and didnt really get the reactions I was expecting. There were a lot of comments like 'oof' 'good luck', 'was it planned?', and 'how is 2 under 2 going to be?'. Which confuses me because we didnt get pregnant until my child was 20 months old which means they're going to be about 2.5 years apart. I was feeling good about this age gap but now im worried and the disappointing reactions make it a little less magical 😞

Tip! 38weeks, yay!

Hiii everyone!! 236 days ago I posted here that I was holding my first positive pregnancy test in my hands and here we are, 9 months later, big ass bump lol. Can’t wait to hold him in my arms. My whole pregnancy was very normal, I didn’t have any crazy symptoms except for feeling sick which comes back now. But my doctor was telling me since the 20th week that he measures two weeks ahead! A big baby. Which is weird because my husband isn’t the tallest and neither am I but hey, maybe I’ll be raising a basketball player so I can’t be mad. However, last week he was already 7.5 pounds. Girls, I am tired. It is getting hard on me, on my knees, on my back, on my everything. I’m very scared of labor, of tearing and to be honest - I just want to get him out of my belly already lol! I don’t feel his movements regularly either since I have an anterior placenta which drives me crazy sometimes. I go on walks every single day, long walks, short walks. Is there any tips to induce labor naturally? Help a girl out, I am tiiireeeddd!!!

Funny Two months from baby and husband is focused on ... Jogging strollers.

The nursery furniture isn't together. We have no newborn/ 0-3 clothes. We just moved house and it needs work, our first is going through a sleep regression, we have no bassinet/ bottles/ muslins/ car seat. But he spent yesterday running a half marathon and "recovering" and today buying and cleaning a double jogging stroller he openly acknowledges we don't need for about a year.

Meanwhile his mother is buying us exclusively torn/ stained boys clothes (we're having a girl and are not financially strained, nor is she) and seems to think the boundaries we have in place no longer apply to her. He's handling it but she's a lot and I know it's hard on him.

Normally he's all about making me rest/ relax after work while he handles dishes, taking care of the vacuuming etc. I think he's genuinely just coping by jogging stroller shopping...

Discussion third trimester leg swelling is no joke

I'm 34 weeks and my ankles have basically disappeared. My calves feel tight and heavy from the moment I wake up and it just gets worse through the day. I keep my feet elevated whenever I can but it barely takes the edge off.

My OB said it's normal as long as it's symmetrical and not sudden onset. I know that. I just want to feel less miserable about it. Compression socks help a little during the day but taking them off at night is its own kind of pain. Anyone found something that gives actual relief?

Help? Worst Headache of my life- 2nd trimester

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for some advice or shared experiences regarding headaches during the second trimester.

Some background:

I rarely get headaches normally. My first trimester was pretty smooth—mainly just mild nausea triggered by spices and needing a lot of sleep. At my 13-week scan and tests, everything came back normal. My PAPP-A was borderline, so I’ve been taking daily low-dose aspirin as advised by my doctor. My blood pressure has been completely normal.

I was really looking forward to the second trimester being the "easy" phase, but starting around week 14, I’ve been getting headaches almost every week for the past 3–4 weeks.

My current symptoms:

The pain is concentrated entirely across my forehead, right above my eyebrows.

For the first time, I've had a continuous headache lasting over 15 hours.

I took Paracetamol/Acetaminophen last night, which only helped enough for me to fall asleep, but I woke up with the same headache today.

I also caught a cold this week and have a stuffy nose, so I'm not sure if sinus pressure is contributing.

Has anyone dealt with something similar? What safe remedies or tips helped you manage headaches like this during pregnancy? I’d appreciate any relief strategies!

Help? Anyone else transitioning from full time work to part time work + new baby?

• Upvotes

I have worked from home in the same job for the last 6 years. At the beginning of October, we got news that the company was being dissolved by the end of the month due to financial struggle. Today, two weeks from my last day at work, I am 16 weeks pregnant with our first baby. I will be continuing to serve one of the company’s clients in a part time capacity and (hopefully) making about half of my full time salary. At the same time my husband is in the process of changing to a new, higher paid position where he works, which should make up a good portion of what I will be lacking from my full salary.

So the timing of this isn’t stellar, seeing as we will have new financials to navigate while preparing for our first baby. But on the flip side, with me working part time, I will have more time to dedicate to our baby once she arrives in April. However, until then, I am struggling with my worth as a contributor to the home and finances, etc. I am someone who needs to be actively doing something that feels productive and I hate that my husband works so hard outside of the house and I’m just home all day. Obviously, I will pick up more slack on chores in areas where he used to help out, but I’m just in a weird transition phase that I’m not quite sure how to navigate.

Anyone else have similar experiences?

Help? 33 weeks at time of baby shower

• Upvotes

My baby shower has been planned for early December when I'll be 33 weeks. Should I wait to buy stuff off my registry? My concern is that it will be peak holiday shipping season and while I'm on light duty at work, it's still our busiest time of year.

My inlaws bought the crib and mattress and we had planned on buying the car seat but one of my aunts bought it already. Other aunts who also didn't wait for a baby shower invite and asked for my registry bought bottles/high chair/stroller for us.

Aside from some nursery decor, we've bought a few clothes but that's it. There are only 20 or so people invited to the shower. Should we wait or buy some of the little things now?

Help? Crib mattress gap - are we overthinking this?

Post image
64 Upvotes

Hi all! We are first time parents and just got a new crib mattress to use in a hand-me-down crib. The crib is about 12 years old but we checked it against safety standards and we think we're good there. The one issue were having is we bought a new mattress, but there's roughly a 1.5 inch gap between the short side of the mattress and crib (the longer side is very snug). Is this a safety hazard? We are seeing some mixed things online regarding acceptable gap, 2 finger test vs. actual measurements, etc. so just wanted to crowd source some wisdom. Thank you!

Trigger warning for mentions of early miscarriage

Sorry if this is a bit all over the place. Im having a rough time putting it all into words.

Hi so my husband and I have been trying for a baby for 8 months. I know thats not long but I feel like its taking forever. Well I live with my sister in law and brother they just started trying and have just announced their pregnancy. I dont know how to feel about it. On one hand im super happy to become an aunt and they deserve this (they had an early term miscarriage a bit ago).

On the other hand I feel crushed and like im falling behind. I can barely be around my sister in law and feel awful about it. I want to break down in to tears everytime she mentions turning our guest room into a nursery. I feel like trash. Like a kid throwing a fit because they aren't blowing out the candles on the cake. I want to be happy and be there and celebrate but getting my period every month just sends me into tears and I just dont think I can handle those on top os seeing someone else get what im trying so hard to have every day.

Thanks for reading and id appreciate any advice.

Rant/Vent Just F&&@ing Miserable

Just need to vent. 35 weeks pregnant with my second. My first was born 33+6 due to pprom. So this pregnancy has been high risk due to history and age and some other medical things. Biweekly MFM appts and twice a week NST

I love the extra monitoring. That’s not the issue. Baby is healthy.

This pregnancy has been physically brutal since the beginning. I was in the best shape mentally and physically before. But I haven’t been able to do much movement for months. That has taken a toll on my body and how it feels. Screw the weight. I don’t care about that - it’s expected.

I’m in so much back, hip and stomach/uterus pain. Constant Braxton hicks and false labor. Two L&D visits just to be told I’m not dilated and to go
Home and rest.

I’m being induced at 39 weeks but my two doctors aren’t surprised if the baby comes early. Which I hope.

The next few weeks are gonna be rough. Need all the good vibes.

Rant/Vent first trimester is horrible

Currently 7w, nearly 8w, and having an awful time. Have felt so sick and nauseous for the past two weeks. Have a constant uneasy stomach. Lots of gagging and just feel exhausted. I can’t remember what it was like to not feel sick. I know I am in the thick of it. To make things worse I have just gotten a huge cold sore, and have terrible tinnitus right now. Am getting better at constantly snacking but just really struggling. How are we expected to keep working, kudos to all of you with kids already, can’t imagine being anything but vertical! Rant over xx

Info How did you prepare for baby #2?

• Upvotes

Hi all. I am 11 weeks with baby #2. My toddler is 25 months and just starting to speak more. Ideally we’d like to potty train him and will need to transition him into a big boy bed but we want to do this with enough time that there aren’t a bunch of changes at once. He is fairly mild mannered (def has tantrums, picky eating etc) but so so sweet. He definitely isn’t showing signs of potty readiness yet but I’ve been teaching him how to pull his pants up and down and dada takes him to the potty to show him. How did you prepare your family/routine for baby #2? I am due in May.

Discussion Pumping to induce labor

I see a lot of posts here about what methods actually work to speed along a natural labor and thought I’d drop in to say that I was feeling impatient at 40+3 so figured I’d give pumping a try (with a manual pump, not electric), and ten minutes into the pumping session, my water broke! Took a few more hours for contractions to start, and baby was born the next day.

Not foolproof of course, could be a coincidence, but idk. I’d also been eating a few dates each day, walking a ton, and had sex the day before. I was really trying to get things moving lol (wanted to avoid an induction).

Discussion Professional Organizer - Worth it?

I am considering bringing in a professional organizer to help me bring some order to the nursery and to do our kitchen as well. Im wondering if any other FTM have done this before baby arrives, and if it was worth it for your peace of mind?

Im 30 weeks, exhausted and I don't think I'm going to have the bones to do it myself. I feel like if I ask family for help then it doesn't really take off the mental load because I will have to answer questions/make decisions. And my sweet husband works LONG hours in a very taxing job, and I'd love to just take it off his plate too. We are fortunate that financially we can do this if I choose too, but I am hesitant.

Did anyone else get a second wind after this point? Would I be better off waiting until after baby gets here? We plan on having him in our room to start with, and I feel confident that I can get my bedside table sorted by myself.

edited to remove extraneous information that isn't relevant to my question

New here Walmart baby registry free cleaning.

Has anyone used the free 3-hour cleaning service from Walmart’s baby registry after spending $300? 👀🧹 These past 6weeks pp has been hectic and I could definitely use a home clean.

I just qualified for it and have a cleaner assigned to me! I’m curious about your experiences. How was the cleaning? What exactly did they clean, and did they take out the trash? Were you able to get any extra areas cleaned within the 3 hours, or did they charge extra?

Just trying to know what to expect before my appointment! 😂🩷

Funny My baby just started solids and the poop smells so bad 😷

When we came back from the hospital and I changed the baby’s diaper for the first time, I wore a mask as I couldn’t bear the smell. Little did I know, the worst was yet to come. 🤢

What’s the most disgusting thing you’ve done as a parent that would’ve horrified your pre-baby self?

Help? Back pain - office chair recs or chair pillow.. or anything else

I’m almost 23w and have been dealing with pretty bad back pain on my right side, around my mid-to-lower back. I work a desk job and spend a good portion of my day sitting, which I’m sure isn’t helping.

Looking for recommendations for a supportive office chair and/or chair pillow that’s helped anyone with pregnancy back pain. I’m willing to invest in something good if it’ll make the next few months more comfortable!

Would love to hear what’s worked for you!
