why is Boruto hated on? i’ve loved Naruto for a while but i’ve been really getting into it more. I started Boruto a bit ago and am on ep. 132. I’m aware it’s different than Naruto, like story telling, symbolism, the vibe and meaning to things just aren’t the same. It is also not dark at all. (I believe it will definitely get dark in some way) In terms of where the story and the world of Naruto is going I think it’s good, of course they are going to build off the Okutsuki. With the announcement of Naruto : Shadows rising I see people being happy saying that Boruto’s “not canon” first this isn’t even confirmed or debunked, right? second, are people just hopping on the hate train that’s been around since the show first came out? Wtf is wrong with Boruto?

I made this Sarada fanart before I met her voice actress last April! I wanted to share here ❤️

Kishimoto and Naruto having the same posture, both overworked and stressed, and reasonably so. Idk, Naruto might be sloughed even more.

Can I just say I love that Ikemoto didn't try to make Naruto into this badass all the time. He of course has his cool moments, and he's very strong, but he still retains that goofy side of Naruto which is essential to his character. I just love it.

I’ll admit that I’m not the biggest fan of Boruto. I’ve spent my time keeping up with it mainly out of curiosity rather than as a fan of it. I’m not one of those rabid Naruto fans who’s been obsessed with demanding it get retconned or acting like it killed my family and burned my dog alive. I’ve made my peace with its existence and just accept it for what it is.

And while I think it’s lackluster in many areas, I also understand that there are certainly things to like about it, and I’m happy for the people who can band together and enjoy it, even despite it’s flaws. After all, Naruto wasn’t perfect, it had lots of issues as well.

However I think that something that always bothers me is how it’s treated when you bring up how Boruto has overall mishandled its legacy characters. Aside from Naruto and Sasuke, the other legacy characters have very minimal roles and some iconic legacy characters are just not present at all. And I think this is probably the biggest sin Boruto commits, worse than any potential bad art, worse than any plot lines. And when it comes to Sasuke and Naruto, they are either stagnant and in the exact same spot that they were in before the time skip to Boruto, or just make decisions that don’t make sense in the larger context of the character.

My issue is how so many people will disregard this by saying “It’s Boruto’s show, not Naruto.” Essentially saying that those old characters don’t matter and don’t deserve any attention since it’s not their show, and I think this is blatantly false. It also confuses me a ton, because I imagine a lot of people who came to Boruto like Naruto, so why are you ok with this blatant apathy to some of the most beloved characters in the franchise?

Yes the show is about Boruto, but it’s still set in the world of Naruto, not only that but it’s set only 15-16 in the future. Boruto owes its existence to Naruto, and as such there should be a certain respect and reverence given to the more iconic characters of that franchise. Seeing our characters continue to do cool things is almost like saying thank you to us for supporting it and while I get it that can be seen as pandering, by doing what Boruto has done and actively just ignoring the older generation of characters it just kind of alienates people who maybe wanted to see their favorite characters in some form that wasn’t a bland piece of plywood.

And I’m not saying make the show about Naruto, but at least have the characters play a larger role as mentors and teachers, as icons and legends. Let them exist to teach the younger kids how to be like them, and then let the kids surpass them in a way that feels natural and not forced.

There was a way to do this in a way that didn’t feel unearned and forced, and I genuinely think that this is the worst issue within Boruto, it doesn’t seem to really respect what came before it. If this issue were fixed, I’m sure Boruto would be looked at much more fondly.

Anyways, this was a yap, and I’ll probably get downvoted to hell considering a lot of Boruto fans will see that I said I’m not a big fan and then immediately ignore everything else I had to say. But I just have a hard time understanding why so many fans of Boruto just seem to have such an apathy towards anyone saying they wished the older generation was more present.

Shout out to my little brother in the last two photos for helping me put on the belt and taking pictures of the fit!

Kawaki is apologizing for "keeping them sealed for so long" feels like a subtle shift in his mental state because up until now, he treated sealing Naruto as a cold necessity that required no remorse.

Is this foreshadowing him making a desperate mistake later or will someone force his hand to enter the dimension?

WE didn't need or want this story. they should've made a slice of life OVA post naruto and called it a day.

I remember when Boruto out of all people summoned Nue when he was an academy student. I always thought that this isn't just coincidence, but hey😅.

Would you enjoy it if Nue returned?

Boruto uzumaki in my art style..

I hope you really liked this..

This is the combination of the previous and present time skip design...

I really enjoyed it..

May be i will draw Naruto next...

Bye have a nice day..

My big sister actually brought me this Boruto because I wanted it so badly in 2022. She surprised me in the mail, and I brought Kawaki for myself to go with Boruto.

I never liked Naruto's Baryon Mode, I think we could have gotten a more fox-like form as his last Kurama transformation.

In the past, Kurama used to give his chakra before, now since he was departing, he literally fuses with Naruto to give him all of his power.

I took inspiration from Super Saiyan 4 Goku from Dragon Ball GT for this design.

What do you guys think?

Does anyone not also feel like the anime deserves a full remake like Part 1 like whats happening to super, i hear many people on social media always wanna start it but sadly this converts to the problems we have today and why many people do not wanna give it a chance

honestly i think it would be great. i believe the story holds up on its own as a whole but i feel studio pierott damaged its reputation which is why even have to tell anyone to read the manga instead of watching the anime which is i feel as a person shouldnt be the case to be honest.

I do find it interesting, Boruto fans seem rather jaded at project Rasengan. Feeling a need to validate the series existence. No games announcing Boruto related dlc for games, the Ninku crossover is being done with younger Naruto crew instead of the Boruto crew, and a return to a manga focus exclusively before Boruto was born. Would you say the people behind project rasengan was fair to not mention Boruto or was foul for not mentioning it so far?

I’ll go first

The omnipotence being reversed and Boruto getting back his original identity back

Who is this very special, specific person in his life?

You're entitled to your opinion on the story but personal taste doesn't change financial reality. Boruto consistently ranks near the top of MANGA Plus every month, has sold over 10 million physical volumes and generates massive revenue through international streaming rights and Bandai Namco gaming licenses.

Judging a modern global IP purely on domestic print sales misses how media giants like Shueisha and TV Tokyo actually make their money today. A franchise driving millions across digital platforms, games and streaming is anything but a failure.

The novels contradict boruto directly. So umm how will this canon work?

Every single time Kishimoto drops or gets attached to a side project, one shot, or spin off announcement (like kishimoto's new manga project: "Shadow Rising") a subset of Naruto fans instantly run to Twitter, TikTok and Reddit to yell "BORUTO IS CANCELED! IT'S BEING RETCONNED!"

It is genuinely funny how desperate people are for Boruto to fail.

Side projects don't replace ongoing series: Kishimoto literally wrote the Minato Whorl within the Spiral one shot while Boruto was actively publishing. Did Boruto get canceled then? No.

Boruto is Kishimoto and Ikemoto's ongoing monthly flagship, TBV is sitting at top ranks globally on MANGA Plus. Shueisha is not throwing away a top tier revenue generator because haters online miss 2007.

Spin offs are standard for big IPs. Dragon Ball, Gundam and Naruto all run side stories, special chapters and anniversary projects alongside main series.

Boruto isn't going anywhere. Don't let fan rumors and misread announcements convince you that Shueisha is canceling a multi million dollar franchise.

for context, boruto is the least sold amongst the four here, after inherited some of the popularity from Naruto. the question is the manga cannot keep up with newer shonens in terms of sales, despite being able to maintain its popularity on manga plus, do most people only read boruto online?

Considering time doesn't flow in kawaki dimension

But momoshiki also have ability to stop time just like kawaki pocket dimension, will that even stop from momoshiki coming out

What if kawaki decided to unseal naruto but when he do so boruto immediately goes to momoshiki shortly after so kawaki seal naruto again and will never repeat the same mistake to unseal naruto until the very end

What your thoughts

So i was listening to naruto openings or songs in general and i was listening to this song and for some reason i can hear him singing a line that sounds like deep purple singing smoke in the water like the chorus. This might be just me but i definitely hear it
