As a trans woman, I had to find a new doctor after moving to a new city. So I went to see a doctor who had “LGBT health” listed as one of her specialties.

Despite being incredibly clear that I was a post op trans woman, she asked about my uterus at one point. I reiterated my status and she was like “Isn’t getting one of those part of the surgery?”

Needless to say, I didn’t go back to that doctor in the future.

"Are you giving me yours? Who would I get one from? Are they giving them out somewhere?"

Ugh omg that's when you have her put it in writing that you can do that like "oh! I didn't know I could do that! This is so exciting, can you refer me to a doctor who can do that?"

Oh god.

I had to switch PCPs to find someone LGBT+ friendly for my transition. My doc isn't perfect but he's been so great with listening to me, respecting what I have to say and what I ask for, and respecting who I am. In fact, during my first appointment with him I heard the nurse (accidentally) misgender me in the hall and he was so quick to correct her.

May all of us be blessed with doctors who respect and care about us! I hope you have that kind of care now.

My current GP, who I’ve been seeing for a few years now is amazing. Best doctor I’ve ever had, for both my trans and non-trans related medical needs.

The first endocrinologist i went to was advertised to me as a "specialist" for transgender stuff

dude didn't want to measure my testosterone levels because "blockers don't affect T in the bloodstream, only getting balls removed does"

also needless to say i switched

Glad she's so hopeful about how great surgeries are. But unfortunately no.
