I know this comic is specifically comparing the US to Europe, but my pedantry compels me to point out: at the very least the huge portions, free refills, and casual friendliness (as well as the never going abroad bit, I guess) aren't at all exclusively American; from personal experience, they're just as prevalent in Brazil.

Certain European countries will also serve very large portions.

Greece is the only European country I’ve visited so far but I got insanely large portions at some of the restaurants there.

You can find both in every country.

Spain per example has both, regions like Galicia or Castilla, known for huge ass rations but they also have amazing restaurants where you spend 3-4 hours eating non stop small portions. Depends on what you want.

An american will never think he is paying too much for food in most of Europe if he is a tourist so this argument about rations never made sense. Sure, you got a little tapa in Spain? well you paid 4 euros what do you expect?

I had no complaints about the portion sizes in Rome while I was there, sometimes it definitely felt like I was getting more, especially considering the price.

Also Brazilians IMO seem to outdo Americans in terms of being outgoing, smiling, and friendly.

I was on a work trip to Brazil and we ate at a Minas Gerais restaurant. There was so much food I thought I was going to die

You will also get free refills of coffee and free water in restaurants in some countries in Europe .

I guess a very typical thing seems to be to generalize, visit one or two European countries and think that goes for all of Europe

Also, the huge portions aren't necessarily meant to be eaten in one sitting, typically they give you enough to take home (which they usually provide a box to do so with).

Geographically speaking, yeah, but when one is talking about Americans from America, they almost exclusively mean those of us from the north, as people in South America typically have their own labels that specify they're from the south instead (Brazilian, Argentinian, etc). I know might seem a bit nonsensical from a literal standpoint, but it's kind of like calling a Slavic person from Western Russia Asian because of the Eastern side's link (assuming this example is decent and carries over outside the US/my head, that is).
