Okay but I can't even count the number of times I had to take off my shoes in Egypt for Airport security. It's not just American.

Europeans say Americans are "Americentric", but they are often just as guilty of Eurocentricity, assuming European norms = international norms.

Europeans love shitting on American defaultism on a website overwhelmingly populated by Americans.

And it’s not even a rule in the US anymore. Just flew the other day and they had to yell at people to keep their shoes on.

That’s because American security officials train airport people in the Middle East and North Africa.

This does not apply to most European countries, China, etc where they are taught based on local standards.

The major airports in China installed the massive full body scanning machines so that’s not needed anymore.
