A man takes his seat on the plane, the guy next to him strikes up a conversation. He’s a statistician. The guy asks why he looks so nervous. The stat guy says “well I know the probability of there being a bomb onboard, so I never fly, even if the chance is extremely low. But my conference is in Hawaii so…”

They take off, no fuss, and land. They part ways.

The man gets on his return flight and happens to be seated next to the same statistician. He asks if he’s nervous. “Not at all” says the statistician.

“Aren’t you afraid of flying?”

The stats guy responds “I usually am. But then I calculated the chance of there being two bombs on the same plane. It’s a non-zero chance. Won’t happen in our lifetime.”

The man says “well yeah, but does that lower the risk?”

The statistician elbows the man with a smirk. “Now, I simply bring my own bomb.”

A physicist, an engineer, and a statistician go deer hunting together. As they are walking through the woods they come upon a meadow with a giant, beautiful 10-point buck standing in the middle. The physicist aims his rifle and shoots, but misses the deer by 5 degrees to the right. Then the engineer raises his rifle and shoots, but misses the deer by 5 degrees to the left. The statistician yells, "Good job, guys. We got 'em!"
