How do you know what your alters's preffered appearances look like?
Like does alter A write down what they look like, alter B draws them based upon the description, then alter A verifies if they look like that or not?

If it's like the above, how long did it take to find out?

(And did different alters have different ideas on what another one looks like/supposed to look like?)

Mostly by them drawing themselves. Sometimes I can "see" them in my head if I try to visualize it and that generally stays consistent

We built an innerworld with the help of our therapist to help with internal communication as part of treatment. So I can actually look at others in the system. We're not unusually great at visualizing, so there's a lot of vagueness, but we worked from there. Pretty consistent. I am a domino mask, #32174D. I always see myself as part of fronting, because that is an exercise that helps to ground us better.
