United States of America 🇺🇸 US Visa Megathread - Q4, 2026

This is the US Visa Megathread for the last quarter of 2026. All queries and approvals regarding the US Visa must be posted on this megathread.

Business/Tourist visa

The B-1/B-2 visitor visa is for people traveling to the United States temporarily for business (B-1) or for pleasure or medical treatment (B-2). Generally, the B-1 visa is for travelers consulting with business associates, attending scientific, educational, professional or business conventions/conferences, settling an estate or negotiating contracts. The B-2 visa is for travel that is recreational in nature, including tourism, visits with friends or relatives, medical treatment and activities of a fraternal, social or service nature. Often, the B-1 and B-2 visas are combined and issued as one visa: the B-1/B-2.

Application items

If you apply for a business/tourist visa, you must pay your application fee and submit the following:

  • A Nonimmigrant Visa Electronic Application (DS-160) Form. Visit the DS-160 web page for more information about the DS-160.
  • A passport valid for travel to the United States with a validity date at least six months beyond your intended period of stay in the United States (unless country-specific agreements provide exemptions). If more than one person is included in your passport, each person desiring a visa must submit an application.
  • One 2 x 2-inch (51 x 51 mm) photograph taken within the last six months. This web page has information about the required photo format.
  • If a visa is issued, there may be an additional visa issuance reciprocity fee, depending on your nationality. The Department of State's website can help you find out if you must pay a visa issuance reciprocity fee and what the fee amount is.

In addition to these items, you must present an interview appointment letter confirming that you booked an appointment through this service. You may also bring whatever supporting documents you believe support the information provided to the consular officer.

More details on the USTravelDocs website.

Taiwan 🇹🇼 Messed up and bought tickets to Taiwan in the middle of CNY

Basically the title, I booked a flight for Taiwan from Feb 4-14. This is for Kaohsiung Entry > Taipei Departure. I’ve been reading people’s experiences and they all said it wasn’t worth it.

Note that I’ve been to Taipei and Taichung before this. I just fell inlove with Sun Moon Lake and I wanted to visit Alishan sana 😭

Has anyone had this experience? I’m thinking of just calling it a loss.

China 🇨🇳 China Visa: Is ₱150K Bank Balance Enough for 3 People?

Hi! We're planning a 5-day trip to Shanghai, and I'll be sponsoring my two brothers. We already have hotel reservation and paid flight tickets.

My current bank balance is ₱150K, with a 6-month ADB of ₱100K.

Would this be considered a red flag since I'll be financially supporting all three of us? I'm worried the amount might be too low.

Has anyone been in a similar situation? Would appreciate your insights. Thank you!

Australia 🇦🇺 Best hassle-free Filipino ATM card to use in Australia for ATM withdrawals?

Going to Melbourne next month and staying for around a month. Which Philippine ATMs would you recommend?

Or if you've already tried them, which ones worked for you? I'm bringing an ATM card just in case I need to make emergency cash withdrawals.

Thanks!

Laos 🇱🇦 Laos hot air balloon experience

Sa mga nakatry na ng hot air balloon sa Laos especially with Above Laos ano po yung experience niyo?

I’m booked for the 5:30 am slot and was wondering if anong oras usually ang balik sa hotel.

I have a 6 pm train to catch kasi from Vientiane to Bangkok on the same day. So need ko pa mag travel from VV to Vientiane.

Tight kasi yung sched namin and eto lang yung available day na makapag hot air balloon ako and eto pa naman yung activity na pinaka excited ako about.

Real talk po sana: realistic ba yung itinerary namin and do we have enough time to get to the train stations? 😭

Query ❔ First Intl Travel: Airport and Hotel nearby? + CC inquiry.

Hi everyone! I’ll arrive at NAIA on October 30 at 2 PM, and my flight from Clark Airport is the next day, October 31, at 10 AM.

I’m torn between staying inside Clark Intl airport or booking a cheap accommodation near the airport. I considered sleeping at the airport, but the lounges I found cost over ₱2,000 and closes at 2am 😞 I have the following Credit Cards I might be able to utilize:

Metrobank Travel Visa
Unionbank Visa Gold
Eastwest Visa Platinum
Maya Black (new, just got it last mo)

What would you recommend? Is staying near Clark Airport the most practical option? Any tips for affordable accommodations and how I can maximize my cards would be greatly appreciated.

Also this will be my first Intl trip, dapat ko ba tawagan ang banks to inform about my travel? What are the preparations I should do before I go to Taiwan (14days) and Vietnam (15 days) Thank you! 😊

China 🇨🇳 3 Weeks China Visa Application Still Under Review

Hi, seeking advice on what to do to escalate or expedite.

I submitted my China visa application requirements Sep. 29, and it’s already Oct. 20 and my status is still under review.

This is my 4th time traveling to China, so I have 3 old China visas. I also have other visas - Japan, Korea, New Zealand.

I made a follow up in Oct. 7 and they told me to pay 3.6k to expedite. As there was still time and there was a Chinese holiday from Oct. 1-7, I thought I’d just wait it out since my flight to Shanghai is still on Nov. 24.

But this has dragged on too long, beyond the typical 7-10 working days.

I’ve been trying to call their landline but can’t connect. I also sent an email and sms but no response.

Has anyone been in the same situation before? How do you expedite?

Query ❔ Agoda booking with infant 1yr old

Hi everyone! Has anyone booked at Regala Skycity Hotel Hong Kong via Agoda with a 1-year-old infant?

We booked a Standard Room for 2 adults and our 1-year-old son. During the booking process, I selected the infant option and entered my baby’s age as 1 year old.

However, when we received the final booking confirmation, it only showed 2 adults and did not mention our infant. Agoda also showed a “room capacity exceeded” message.

we received the final booking confirmation, it only showed 2 adults and did not mention our infant.

Would appreciate hearing your experiences. Thank you!

/already sent an email concern to the hotel, waiting for their reply.

Flights ✈️ Accidentally used MR instead of MS PAL Flight to Japan

Anyone experienced using the wrong salutation sa flight ticket?

Booked a flight from MNL to NRT via PAL, pero accidentally used MR instead of MS. All other details are correct and match the passport.

As far as I know, salutation lang naman ito. Would it matter during check-in, boarding, or immigration sa Manila and Japan?

Already called and emailed PAL, pero they're charging us USD 25 just to correct it. Didn't even confirm kung okay lang.

Is it really necessary to pay for the correction, or okay lang to proceed since salutation lang naman?

Anyone experienced the same and traveled without issues? Thank you!

Taiwan 🇹🇼 How’s the weather in Kaohsiung around Dec 27–30?

Hi! For those who have visited Kaohsiung, Taiwan, how’s the weather usually like around December 27–30?

I’ll be visiting on those dates and I’m wondering what clothes to pack. Is it cold enough for thick jackets, or are light jackets and sweaters enough? I don’t want to overpack! 😂 Also, any tips on what to prepare or bring? Would really appreciate your suggestions. Thank you!

Japan 🇯🇵 Family trip at Nagoya, Japan on Dec 25-Jan 2. Any advice on what we should do?

We will spend 7 days at Nagoya. Included in our itinerary here are the following: Hida Takayama, Shirakawa-go, Inuyama Castle, Tsumago-juku, and also the city center.

Planning on spending 2 days and 1 night in Kyoto. Is this a good idea?

We already went to Tokyo in 2019 and Osaka/Nara/Kyoto in 2023. However, while we explored much of Osaka/Nara, we only went to Kinkakuji in Kyoto. That’s why we thought of maybe coming back to explore more.

We’re also open to maybe going back to Tokyo instead. Or are there any other places we can go to for 2 days and 1 night?

Recommendations are much appreciated!

Agency👩‍💻 Japan Private Tour Agency

What agencies do you recommend for private tour sa Japan. Since first timer, kind of overwhelmed sa dami ng places to go to, kaya I thought having someone else do the planning for me would be better, but still catered to what the family wants.

We are going for 4D3N. Is this good for the usual Tokyo-Kyoto-Osaka loop, or should we limit to 1-2 cities, since we might allot a whole day for disney/usj (and maybe shopping?). I do want to travel back nmn but that still depends if we get an ME visa.

Japan 🇯🇵 Peak autumn in Aomori? Worried about my luggage and not sure what the right move is

Post image
26 Upvotes

I'm hopeful to catch some foliage in Aomori next week, specifically the Hakkoda mountain (I know, low chance since it's late October) and then take the bus to Jogakura bridge. Since daylight is short during autumn I want to head straight to Sukayu onsen afterwards, where I'll be spending the night (already booked)

Question: what do I do with my luggage here? I'll be departing my hotel in Aomori station first thing in the morning (staying here one night only) and I'm carrying a large suitcase. Do I carry it on the bus or use luggage forwarding services to send it to Sukayu Onsen?

Taiwan 🇹🇼 Where to stay in Taipei? Zhongshan vs. Ximending

Hi everyone! My partner and I will be visiting Taipei this December, and we’re looking for hotel recommendations.

Our budget is around ₱3,500 per night max. We’re not looking for anything fancy or luxurious since we’ll be out exploring most of the time. We just want somewhere clean, comfortable, and conveniently located.

We’re currently considering Zhongshan because my partner prefers a more chill and quiet neighborhood. However, we’re also open to Ximending, preferably somewhere away from the busy streets and nightlife but still within walking distance of the MRT and restaurants.

A few questions:
1. Any budget-friendly hotels you’d recommend in Zhongshan?
2. Are there quieter areas in or around Ximending that are still convenient for getting around?
3. We’ll be arriving at Taoyuan Airport at around 2 AM. What’s the best way to get to Taipei at that hour? Is it better to book a private transfer or wait until the Airport MRT starts operating?

Would appreciate recommendations based on your personal experience, especially from fellow budget travelers. Thank you!

Japan 🇯🇵 puwede ba magdala ng decant bottles sa ph to jp flight?

Hello! I’ll be visiting Japan soon, and I’m not sure if I can decant my skin and body care products and place them in my check-in luggage. I saw a comment in another platform that said the decants need to have labels or else it will be removed from your bag.
