Hadn’t seen it before but i really liked it

Hey everyone! I’m El, from Russia, and I’m really into folk-punk. The thing is, folk-punk barely exists here. We’ve got a punk scene, but folk-punk is almost nonexistent — so I feel like I’m pretty much the only one around here with this taste in music.

I enjoy making equirhythmic song translations, two years ago I translated “Urine Speaks Louder Than Words” into Russian. To be honest, I only discovered Reddit fairly recently. Anyway, I’m excited to share it with you all!

I'm moving myself away from streaming services and have started buying more albums either physically or on Bandcamp. Naturally this has made me go back to listening to albums start to finish more, it's been nice.

Usually there is a song or 2 that you can take or leave on most albums, though. What albums for you are just front to back bangers?

For me atm it's Desecrated Bug by Crisis Crew. (Worm in a Puddle is great as well but Desecrated Bug is fucking perfect)

S1E2 of Adults on FX. this show also features AJJ songs in both season finales. noticed this shirt in my second rewatch. they changed the dog for legal reasons, I assume.

I like a lot of the stuff that Pat the Bunny makes but I can't relate as deep as other folk punk fans because I've never done drugs. Any other recommendations?

TLDR: I'm looking for lyrics or prose that would be good to read aloud at a wedding.

I've been asked to officiate a wedding for a couple of my dear friends. They are both people I would describe as embodying the ethos of folk punk, and one of them (Partner A) is specifically into the music genre. Partner A introduced me to AJJ, Ghost Mice, Ramshackle Glory and The Mountain Goats back in the day.

Are there any lyrics in this genre that would work for a reading in a wedding ceremony? (Non-religious, so this part would go in a place where people might normally read Bible verses or something)

Alternatively, even passages that fit this vibe from prose or other works of literature, would be cool. Things about life and love, or what it means to be in community, supporting and depending on one another.

Can be as short as a sentence, or a whole dang song! I'm open to suggestions.
