Science Fiction / Fantasy Recommend me more futuristic comics?

Post image

This is my current collection, I’m in love with anything futuristic/post-apocalyptic, specially cyberpunk or atompunk. I want to get some new comics, so I’d love some recommendations!

Edit: forgot to say I don’t like war/fight-foccused stories. I prefer mystery/investigation/slice of life!

Science Fiction / Fantasy Do you still read work by Neil Gaiman?

I was in the middle of my 3rd read through of the Sandman series when I found out about his accusations and since I mostly read digital it was easy to delete but I’m not gonna lie when I say that I haven’t been able to get into a series like I did The Sandman. Coraline is also one of my favorite movies and most of his work fit my personality which I’m not sure what that says on its own. I don’t condone anything he did and am shocked that he’s really like that. If you guys have any suggestions to anything similar I would appreciate it.

Went to Barcelona to visit and their Norma store is absolutely bananas. Asked one of the guys for a recommendation based on my likes and he gave me this thing that looks like the emo child of Enki Bilal and Moebius, it's amazing. The story and vibes remind me a bit of Akira but I have just started. Do recommend.

Science Fiction / Fantasy Books where the story is not on par with the art

Mickey Mouse and the Amazing Lost Ocean.

Wasnt aware of this a couple of weeks back and had to order it in from europe (had a tough time finding a copy to purchase locally ) I fell in love with this cover (how can one not ? Look at how gorgeous is it!). The art throughout the book is just as good. However, kind of dissapointed with the story. Dont get me wrong , it was ok. Just didnt feel as if the story matched the next level that the art has taken.

Are there any books where u have felt the same?-amazing art let down by not so amazing story?

Science Fiction / Fantasy Just finished BONE as my first graphic novel, what next??

Absolutely devoured this and had a great time. BONE was my first foray into graphic novels and I'm excited for the next one! Love most things in the genre of fantasy and scifi, but also love flowery prose and poetry. I'm a real sucker for post apocalyptic worlds.

Any suggestions??

Science Fiction / Fantasy Any recommendations similar to frontier? Extremely detailed, cozy, cluttered and “scroungy” vibe. I love highly detailed environments.

Science Fiction / Fantasy Recommendations for sci-fi graphic novels to read

Hi, I love sci-fi but not a huge lover of horror so any sci-fis that have a lot of horror please don't recommend. I don't mind mild horror just not a lot of it.

I like Rick and morty and transformers and Dr who is alright. But I'm looking for something a bit new to me.

THANKS! :)

Edit: There have been tonnes of wonderful great recommendations. Thanks everyone! And anymore not mentioned I'll check out :)

Science Fiction / Fantasy Shangri-La might be one of my favourite comics

Having just finished Adrastea, I went with Bablets next work chronologically. Thought maybe I’d read it a bit today and tomorrow. Nope read it in one sitting! Couldn’t put it down.

I think this might be up next to east of west as my favourite comic I’ve read. It resonated with me so much it felt like someone had gone inside my own brain and pulled from it. Clearly me and Bablet are burdened by the same moral challenges. The concepts around rebellion and the futility of it all, the place of violence, the need for purpose and freedom vs safety and comfort. These are things that constantly buzz around my brain whilst existing on this hellscape that is increasingly hostile. So reading something that tied all of that together so well was quite an experience.

As a story the world is built impeccably, it’s similar to our own enough that it can be read as a parable but makes sense within its own context. The characters all go through changes and the main character is almost stuck in the middle of it all trying to find their place, something I relate to greatly. It’s a really engaging read with ample mystery, action and emotion.

The art is fantastic, again the colouring is moody and emotive and the detail is wonderful. It’s great to look at and also very easy to follow not just from a story standpoint but in terms of its world.

Another thing that struck is how prescient it is. The book was written over a decade ago and feels like it’s hitting on stuff that has only become more socially relevant. Of course this was all there in 2016 but even more so now.

Next up is Carbon & Silicon, then I’ll have finished with Bablet for the time being. Afterwards probably Tokyo Ghost as my version in English has arrived!

Oh yeah they’re racist to a dog in this, wtf

Although I had longed for this I never thought it would be a reality due to the significant price tag. However out of the blue my wonderful and amazing wife surprised me with this stating “ I work hard and deserved something nice” I was simply floored.

Just finished volume 1 of the Incal. First time reading Jodorowsky and Moebius. Man, what an adventure. Great world building, pacing, and visual storytelling. I did some screenshots to show Moebius' ability to show action as well as create scenes/architecture to world build.

Finally managed to find The Nikopol Trilogy by Enki Bilal from Titan comics (English version)

This has been out of print for a while and has been very hard to find. The original French version is really easy to find but the English version isn't.

Found it in Italy for only €15🤯

Shipping through Vinted with DHL Express was €16

So €31 total.

Very happy about the whole deal.

Got this in the mail today a couple days before the release date. Havent seen any photos of it online yet so thought I’d share first look for anyone interested. It’s the first ongoing series (rather than limited series) that Jeff Lemire has both written and illustrated since Sweet Tooth, which I loved, so I’m excited to dive into this one.
