Art & Fanworks When fat characters are drawn in a completely different art style

1: Tomohiro Nagatsuka from A Silent Voice (looks like he’s from a kid’s anime)
2: (Flashback) Yuko Ozawa from Jujutsu Kaisen (she’s a realistic depiction but like too realistic… why are her eyes so small)

Besides from the fact that it alienates heavier characters (even when there is more to the character than them being fat), the inconsistency of the art style is just annoying. Fat Gum from My Hero Academia is sorta understandable since the art style allowed for varied designs, but the sources I chose from this post have a much more uniform art style, so it looks jarring when they draw one character super different.

No one in Danganronpa is or looks normal.

Right, semantics, I'll clarify then If I must.

Obviously I didn't mean "normal" in terms of realism, but "normal" in terms of the style that the series established as normal, the style of eyes and facial proportions most characters have. Hifumi for instance, could still be fat but with the similar styled eyes the rest of them have and without the weird cat-like cleft lip thing. He looks more like a caricature than a character if we compare him to the rest of the cast is what I'm saying.

And my point is this character is from the exact same entry and she looks like this. No one looks normal.

It's not about plausible aesthetic/character design normalcy, it's about art style normalcy. Sakura still has the eyes and the facial features relatively similar in style to the other characters. Which was the point of the post, that the fat characters look like they don't belong in the same show in terms of art style.

And I disagree. He looks like he is part of the circus that is a Danganronpa cast.

It's not about the aesthetic exaggeration but the art style consistency, but ok. We can just agree to disagree.
