Researchers from dTeam, a US-based group that tracks Moscow-linked influence operations, told BBC Verify there has not been "any traffic change from known Russian accounts and bot clusters on any platform".
That's the thing, known Russian accounts. Why would this espionage operation not conceal where they're operating? I'm not a tech guy but my understanding is that things like TOR and VPNs have been able spoof location for a long time.
In every comment section you'll find someone trying to make a clever joke about bots going down, while in reality they're just spreading misinformation.
You don't need bots, reddit will take care of everything.
Bots always get blamed for everything. Everything you don’t agree with: bots. MAGA content: bots. Liberal content you don’t agree with: bots.
Bots exist, yes. But you could get rid of all bots, leaving only humans, and things would hardly change. You don’t even need bots when we human Redditors are just as singleminded and repetitive, if not worse
who is dTeam? they seem to be kinda nebulous. i haven't seen any actual credentials besides a couple of mentions the last couple of months. one in BBC and one in NYT without any regard to their actual creds. Oh and another from like 2024.
hard to take the word of a volunteer research group seriously when there are plenty of agencies and companies that actually track this that could confirm.
