It is of my passed away cat, Tabi. It has been 6 weeks now... I still miss my teddy bear. We would hug each other at night, falling asleep together. Then wake up, still together... Not anymore now... Living without her hurts, she was with me since I was 6, for 22 years.
For context of this image, it was during the point I was super interested in older games, in this sense, the PS2. For the original Monster Hunter games 9n the PS3, even the Japanese exclusive ones, there are fan servers online. So I was playing Monster Hunter on the PS2, online, in 2026. The keyboard is there to talk to other players.
Tabi just wanted to snuggle as usual. So this became our arrangement so I could game, she could cuddle, and I could still easily pet her whenever I wanted.
You are a stronger person than I am, it’s been almost exactly 5 years since my 18yo cat passed away (she’d been in my life since I was 5), and my 13yo dog passed away at the end of February. I tear up whenever I see a picture, and even just writing about them now.
I am not strong at all. I just do not want to forget a single bit of Tabi.
I am actually in the process of scavenging all platforms I've ever been on to recover any photos or videos of her, to preserve them as the frozen piece of time they are.
Every day I still lose myself in sadness. At nights, I struggle the hardest. She loved when we hugged each other to sleep. I loved that as well. That is what we did for 22 years. The loneliness without her is unbearable to me. I still tear up, I still ugly cry every day, she is my actual emotional support. Without her around, my emotions are going wild without control. I can laugh one moment, then the next I have to run away, hide, and ugly cry my heart out. I am barely not crying right now.
I do not see myself as strong. I see myself as someone who is desperate to hold onto everything about Tabi.
This, might be the closest to my honest feelings I have ever put out since Tabi passed away 6 weeks ago. Maybe the animity is helping that...
I’m so sorry for your loss, friend. I too lost my dog of 13years a couple years back, and youve had Tabi for 22 years. I cannot imagine your pain right now, but I do hope you know that you have given Tabi the best life she could ever have, thats why she had 22 longggg years! I do hope that someday, you will be able to open your heart to another cat as any cat would be lucky to have you as their hooman.
Grieve and cry for now, but always remember that Tabi’s watching over you. Better days will come, friend. Just hold on tight to Tabi’s memories.
I think that does help. When my dog passed away I couldn’t bear to tell people, besides my best friends, to tell them I’d be MIA, absolutely couldn’t post on my private socials. I did make a post on here and honestly it was kind of cathartic. Just seeing all those strangers taking the time to reply, say kind words, share their stories, so many preppie dm’d me, some made drawing and collages. Honestly it helped me get some words out that I couldn’t irl. Just sharing that she was here and she was loved helped.
I feel you. Sorry for your loss. Mine is my old friend Titus I grew up with. It's been 8 years since he past away and he is still on my wallpaper... When he was 18 he was diagnosed with colon cancer. It was pretty fast downhill from there. These where his goodbye pictures to remember him. He almost couldnt stand anymore. We will always remember our furry friends.
