My first thought as well, but I must admit it was kinda fun watching her face fall as she starts to slip and realizes how badly she misjudged her opponent.

194

u/Dapper_Platform_1222 Apr 16 '26

It's sooooooo satisfying watching her come to terms with her very serious mistake at 40mph.

96

u/fiddlenb Apr 16 '26

I've seen a million of these stupid videos of people acting like assholes and never any consequences.

Seeing her fall off that car is giving me a weird feeling... Am I happy? Wtf

37

u/floggedlog Apr 16 '26

Schadenfreude: enjoying watching someone else suffer consequences.

20

u/fiddlenb Apr 16 '26

Yes that's it! Too many people in my life have escaped consequences for the crap they've done. This just scratches an itch for me.

3

u/driving_andflying Apr 16 '26

Agreed. The smug look of "So? What are you going to do about it?" when she jumps onto the hood, changes to, "Oh shit, I put myself in danger." It gives me a certain amount of satisfaction.

2

u/DecadentLife Apr 17 '26

I think it’s because she’s bullying a disabled woman, that makes it extra satisfying. For me, anyway. (as a disabled woman.) I’ve also seen way too many people fully escape any kind of consequence, even when they do terrible things, and I’m over it.

0

u/kaas_is_leven Apr 17 '26

So not schadenfreude then. That word is used when the joy comes from the harm itself. Clown acts, slapstick and body humor are often built on the principle, it literally means harm-joy. When the joy is because of the consequences it's just satisfaction, or glee. Schadenfreude is not appropriate here, no one expect psychos are enjoying seeing a woman get dragged on a car's hood and falling off when the vehicle speeds up. It's the context that makes it funny. Sorry for rambling.

4

u/drawkward101 Apr 16 '26

I don't feel happy, but I do feel satisfied.

4

u/Rovden Apr 16 '26

The way I look at it, no, neither person in this situation was in the right.

But I had no way of stopping it, so I'm in the clear laughing my ass off while watching an asshole in real time realize the consequences of their actions because they found an equally big asshole

5

u/Anon-Sham Apr 17 '26

Yeah, i quite enjoyed it.

The realisation coming across her face was poetry in motion.

3

u/reddog323 Apr 16 '26

I know. What’s happening to her is absolutely horrible, but there’s definitely a fuck-around-and-find-out vibe that’s satisfying at the same time.

Mixed feelings?

8

u/fiddlenb Apr 16 '26

I think it's because of the times we live in where people commit crimes daily and face no consequences. We are starved for come uppance.

3

u/browneyedohguy2 Apr 16 '26

You are not alone…

2

u/midnightmaroon13 Apr 17 '26

I was very confused about my own feelings on the 4th watch lol

2

u/DecadentLife Apr 17 '26

4th watch 😂

2

u/midnightmaroon13 Apr 17 '26

1st: "what the fuck, that's crazy behavior!" 2nd: "wait, was she really asking for it like that?" 3rd: "oh yeah, asking for it, LITERALLY" 4th: "hahahahaha, I think I love the driver"

5th, just now "i cackled and showed my child, who didn't have previous context and thinks I'm insane"

1

u/DecadentLife Apr 17 '26

I love it!

9

u/descendantofJanus Apr 16 '26

Agreed. Karen FAFO'd. Well deserved ending.

8

u/mrandr01d Apr 16 '26

And honestly I don't think the driver should have been charged with anything based on the few seconds of what I saw.

3

u/[deleted] Apr 17 '26

Sitcom freeze frame "I bet you're wondering how I got here" play intro

2

u/LackWooden392 Apr 16 '26

You may want to seek therapy, brother

-2

u/RefrigeratorKey8156 Apr 16 '26

Yeah honestly that's so hard to watch knowing she is seriously hurt most likely. Should have scared her and let her off if she wanted to teach a lesson. Violence is never the answer.

0

u/Dapper_Platform_1222 Apr 17 '26

She's fine. She'll remember this lesson. Violence is often times the answer.

1

u/RefrigeratorKey8156 Apr 17 '26

There's never a need for violence in a world where we can use words. Its 2026 man. I hope you heal

1

u/DecadentLife Apr 17 '26

Sorry to say, that’s probably coming from someone who hasn’t been violently targeted, or, perhaps you have, but are in a better position, physically, to defend yourself, if someone attacks you. This driver is disabled, I highly doubt she has some violent criminal record, if she was on her way to the Para Olympics. If you’ve never been so much more vulnerable than other people, you may not understand.

1

u/RefrigeratorKey8156 Apr 17 '26

You couldn't be more wrong man. I was abused from ages 8-14 heavily by a family member. I have CPTSD because of this. I still wouldn't wish pain on anyone. Not everyone that goes through something is a cynical ass hole, some of us heal and rise above it all. Take the high road, it's a better view up here, and easier to look down on those who are walking a lower path.

1

u/DecadentLife Apr 18 '26 edited Apr 18 '26

I think we’re talking about different things. I’m not advocating for people being purposefully violent, or even shitty to each other, verbally. I’m talking about the extreme vulnerability that can be difficult for able-bodied people to understand or relate to (few ever try). Specifically, how bad able-bodied people are at recognizing that, and adjusting their judgments. It’s very easy for a healthy/able bodied person to say what THEY THINK it would be like to be disabled, but they’re typically very wrong.

I wish people would just listen to disabled people, but that doesn’t happen much, does it? It’s so easy for able-bodied people to sit here, in judgment, and say that the woman in the car wasn’t in any danger, she shouldn’t have felt afraid, etc. Well, we don’t know how much she can defend herself, or what’s going on with her, medically, etc. So we really don’t know. We do know that the woman attacking her, was highly determined.

CPTSD sucks, I have it, too. I grew up rough (as a target child), and became a social worker, then a crisis counselor, for young kids, the vast majority of whom were severely abused in early childhood. I’m sorry you were abused, and I’m happy you survived. I’m happy I survived, too. So many don’t.

I understand that you were abused, from 8-14, by a family member. You know and remember what it was like to be a vulnerable child, when no one would protect you, and you were not yet able to protect yourself. But you may not know what it’s like to be a vulnerable adult, when you cannot physically defend yourself. I do, and I could see myself (like the woman in the video) getting scared, and just trying to get away from the woman attacking, without thinking it completely through. If you’re used to extreme violence, you already know hesitating could cost you your life. My crazy sister used to push me out of moving cars, push me into traffic, right when a car was coming. She’s seriously dangerous, racist and homophobic, she even abuses animals. In our 30s, she wanted me to help her cause tremendous harm to another person, hoping it would be fatal. I refused, she threatened to kill my son, instead (he was 6). I’m sharing this with you, to try to explain why that kind of multifaceted vulnerability could scare me to that degree, that I would just try to flee, however it might look to others.

0

u/Prudent_Meal6598 Apr 17 '26

I'm not sure what timeline you're talking about, but this one ain't it.

0

u/serabine Apr 17 '26

Yeah, I'll second the call for therapy.

0

u/Dapper_Platform_1222 Apr 17 '26

Oh man. Thanks random dude! That's the nudge I needed. Therapy is the thing that's going to Make sense of the world!

Grow up.

u/Wise_Vacation8279 Apr 16 '26

They're not psychopaths, just losers acting tough.

-1

u/Somanylyingliars Apr 16 '26

Exactly my impression. Childish, immature psychos. Crazy world.

1

u/RigBughorn Apr 16 '26

It's also satisfying knowing that the driver lost the privilege for six months, an incredibly inconvenience, and potentially fucked up her athletic endeavors

1

u/Dapper_Platform_1222 Apr 16 '26

Eh... I'd take six months on the chin to see that mutant slide off my hood

1

u/RigBughorn Apr 16 '26

I sure as fuck wouldn't lol, they've forgotten and moved on at that point. Could have just called the cops and gotten the other person arrested/fined/obligated to appear in court/inconvenienced for extended periods in various other ways.

1

u/Dapper_Platform_1222 Apr 16 '26

Oh lol... No dear. That look in her eyes. She'll remember that hood ride till her last breath.

Also cops are shaky. Maybe they come, maybe they charge, etc.

1

u/DecadentLife Apr 17 '26

“Could have just called the cops and gotten the other person arrested/fine/obligated to appear in court … “

Seriously? You would trust the police like that, assuming they’ll show up and do the right thing? Have you ever dealt with the police, directly? That’s not how it usually goes.

-3

u/ArrayLang Apr 16 '26

I mean both parties in the video are clearly in the wrong. But to say it's satisfying or fun watching someone realizing they are getting ran over at 40mph, even if they acted crazy, is pretty twisted. The person in the car was under no threat, certainly doesn't warrant running someone over and the consequences that come with that.

8

u/DittoSquido Apr 16 '26

The person in the car is a para-olympian meaning shes disabled and the woman on her hood attempted to open her car door before jumping on her hood, I'd wager that the woman on her hood wasn't attempting to open her door for any good reason

7

u/Dapper_Platform_1222 Apr 16 '26

How many times in your life have you acted like an asshole and ended up on the roof of a vehicle traveling at 40 miles per hour?

3

u/Small-Corgi-9404 Apr 16 '26

Once, and it was terrifying!

2

u/Economy-Fee5830 Apr 16 '26

Everyone is not you.

1

u/FervantFlea Apr 16 '26

This person is winning stupid prizes.

-3

u/LukaCola Apr 16 '26

Y'all can stay the hell away from me, thanks.

19

u/Julio-Dewey-Crayfish Apr 16 '26

Stay the hell off my car and we'll have zero issues.

It's amazing how many professional victims seem to relate to the assholes causing the problems in these kinds of videos.

1

u/Somanylyingliars Apr 16 '26

LOL The issue for you would be you have a weapon vs crazy just being crazy. You could kill them and YOU would spend rest of life in prison. Congrats, you played yourself from your immaturity.

8

u/Platnun12 Apr 16 '26

So the alternative is what. She gets to damage my car with impunity but if I go out and knock her out I'm the problem

Shit in other states she'd just be shot and it would be a done deal

5

u/Simon-Says69 Apr 16 '26

It should not be that way. It's just because the Australian goernment is totally corrupt and against their own citizens.

The driver lady was morally fully correct here. Should be legally as well.

The criminal attacking her is fully in the wrong here, morally and legally.

1

u/DecadentLife Apr 17 '26

Damn right.

-4

u/LukaCola Apr 16 '26

Relate to? You're projecting.

They both did something stupid, but the woman in the car is far more reckless. It's quite literally a grade school lesson that two wrongs don't make a right. There's nothing "satisfying" about this exchange, it's an escalation of violence and stupidity that turned an altercation over something stupid into something potentially lethal. If you wanna repeat that, while sitting comfortably at home and under no pressure, you're dumber than both of these women.

12

u/descendantofJanus Apr 16 '26

So the driver was supposed to simply sit there and allow the woman to attack her or her car, likely get away with everything?

Jump onto a moving car, deal with the consequences.

10

u/Aladris666 Apr 16 '26

These virtue signalers never ever offer solutions they are always like what s/he did is wrong and i am superior to tell you this

1

u/lycoloco Apr 16 '26

Hit the brakes after clearing out and at least try to get her loose from your car. If she doesn't, do it again, and again, at low speeds. Or literally anything where you're going 40 mph where the first crazy woman might fall off, get hit by someone else and die, pushing further trauma onto others and probably manslaughter for yourself.

The fact that you didn't even try to think of something less reckless and potentially deadly as a counter-response means you're wildly inferior to those who are at least pointing out that this was reckless at best.

1

u/Aladris666 Apr 17 '26

With your example she could fall from your car and hit her head to the toad and die easily as well so its not a safe solution either so you need to accept she is putting herself in danger with that reckless action and only thing you can do is either do nothing and let her have her tantrum attack your car etc or choose actions that can hurt her

And I was just criticizing people just complaining about the action but never coming with an other explanation. I would not do what the person did in the video i am not crazy and have a lot to lose but i also would not try to stop the a car with my body because i am not crazy and the person driving would be.

The solution is don't play her stupid game! I thought y'all loved that, now she got a stupid prize and put her entire livelihood in peril.

Fucking hell, what if this woman was armed and used her being deliberately targeted by a car as grounds to shoot her?

Just stupid shit all around and you're the ones defending it.

1

u/Aladris666 Apr 16 '26

Dont play her game is not a solution mate she is there in front of your car blocking you whats your move?

So the driver was supposed to simply sit there and allow the woman to attack her or her car, likely get away with everything?

The woman didn't attack her or her car, and whether she gets away with it isn't her problem in that moment. If you want to keep yourself safe and secure, you don't play stupid games. That's what y'all keep saying, right? Check your fucking ego.

Jump onto a moving car, deal with the consequences.

Try to kill someone, deal with the consequences.

3

u/[deleted] Apr 16 '26

[deleted]

1

u/LukaCola Apr 17 '26

Wait so we're saying it's fine to play stupid games now?

Why do you think she would be trying to open the driver's door and prevent her from leaving, if not to assault her?

That's a reasonable fear, but once she's not doing that, you don't get to kill someone. That's kinda the whole thing. Someone can bang on your door at home too, doesn't mean you get to shoot them from your window because of what they might do if they get in.

I'm not going to pretend to know the answer to a situation we cannot know how it turns out. But I do know that once she started accelerating into her and gaining speed, she lost all pretense of acting out of self-defense. She escalated, she played a stupid fucking game and is very lucky she didn't kill that woman.

I'm just applying the same logic more consistently than y'all about playing stupid games. Just don't do it, isn't that the whole point?

Do you think this was a good idea? Out of all possibilities, are you telling me this was the right or even a good choice?

1

u/DecadentLife Apr 17 '26

The disabled woman was trying to escape the person who repeatedly attacked her car, trying to get at her, to attack her, physically.

Your response, is what? That disabled people should just let anyone, do anything they want to them, no matter the harm? That’s ridiculous.

Very fortunate for both of them, absolutely, just such a foreseeable outcome and amazing it was avoided. Nuts to me so many would run that risk here.

Y’all are absolutely nuts with these takes. That woman could have done plenty of things other than speeding off. The law simply looked at danger. A car can be replaced, however fucked up the attacker is, she cannot be replaced. The woman was simply not in danger inside her car

Here’s an example of someone actually in danger who drove off with someone on his hood. This man didn’t get charged because the attackers showed the means to get in the vehicle to cause harm.

https://www.reddit.com/r/ActualPublicFreakouts/s/1A0KcEDKKj

If that don’t do it, idk what will. Y’all are literally arguing against what’s written in law that has plenty of examples and has been scrutinized, analyzed and agreed upon before some of y’all were even born.

1

u/BookProper9115 Apr 16 '26 edited Apr 16 '26

Y’all are absolutely nuts with these takes.

Funny, the only nuts I see here are people thinking the driver did anything wrong. Interesting world.

Good thing Florida passed a law that says if someone does this to you, you have every right to drive right through them. Couldn't imagine living in a backwards ass place that would charge the driver for this.

2

u/Ok_Shoulder_9492 Apr 17 '26

I’m pretty sure cases like this have been going on before you were born, so you’re pretty much arguing with the collective verdict of people much more educated than you in this matter.

but hey, yay Florida for taking a step back

1

u/BookProper9115 Apr 16 '26

Not only is it appropriate reaction, the woman in the car would have been legally jusitifed in shooting the crazy woman in Florida. The crazed woman was hitting her windows, trying to break in, and pulling on door handles. That is considered felony carjacking:

Under Florida § 776.012, deadly force is justified only if the driver reasonably believes it is necessary to prevent imminent death or great bodily harm or the imminent commission of a forcible felony.

Guess what carjacking is considered?

Anyone who thinks the driver did anything wrong are just as crazy as that woman who jumped on the car.

3

u/Dexchampion99 Apr 16 '26

You’re right, but there is also the playground lesson and old adage: “Don’t start none, there won’t be none.”

If you create a problem….expect there to be a problem. The entire situation could have been avoided if the woman just waited her turn like a normal person.

Yes, the response was also not correct, but the response was just that. A response. No one forced her to hop on the hood of the car and threaten the driver. She chose to do that.

4

u/Simon-Says69 Apr 16 '26

They are not right. The woman attacking the car is in the wrong here. Driver was fully correct in trying to dislodge the attacking criminal.

1

u/lioncryable Apr 16 '26

Nobody here is arguing that the women on the car isn't wrong or even the victim. It's the response that people feel weird about because there were so many other ways to resolve this, I'm sure even after going 15 mph and then stoping again the women would have shat her pants and fucked off. Accelerating that hard and letting her slip off is so much outside of a reasonable response it's crazy how many people in here arguing they would have done the same. I'm very glad to live half a planet away

3

u/LukaCola Apr 16 '26

Okay? Literally nobody is defending the woman who started shit's behavior (not that I know what happened before this video starts) but lots of people are acting like then trying to kill them is fine.

Can we just agree, without caveat, that trying to kill someone is way worse than "starting shit?"

Please? Like, y'all are making me feel unsafe knowing how many are actively okay with the response here.

7

u/Economy-Fee5830 Apr 16 '26

The crazy person in the car is performing a societal service, because if people believe that you are perfectly safe intimidating others because they won't retaliate with deadly force, we will get more such incidents.

She sacrificed her license for 6 months to make the world a better place.

Like, y'all are making me feel unsafe

Were you planning to start shit or something?

2

u/LukaCola Apr 16 '26

"You don't understand your honor. This woman intimidated people and she may have gone on to intimidate others with her stare! I had to kill her, think of the service I did for others."

Yeah nah I'm not gonna start shit but there's a reason people don't trust you.

Then don't do stupid shit like that. Simple

I'd have brake checked her to see how far she'd go

1

u/LukaCola Apr 16 '26

Then don't do stupid shit like that. Simple

Same goes for her, and you, apparently.

I'd have brake checked her to see how far she'd go

See, this is playing the stupid game. I'm the one here saying neither did anything right, but a lot of y'all are gleefully promoting how much you want to harm someone given the opportunity.

Truly, how hard can it be? Don't play her stupid game. Don't escalate. Don't end up with murder charges.

3

u/cockypock_aioli Apr 16 '26

It can be both reckless and satisfying. Oftentimes what would be a satisfying outcome also happens to be the thing you should not do. And most folks do in fact resist the urge to up the ante and respond to crazy with more crazy but that doesn't mean it's not satisfying to see.

2

u/LukaCola Apr 16 '26

I guess I just don't find that kinda stuff satisfying.

but that doesn't mean it's not satisfying to see.

I dunno dude, I think it's a bit weird to take pleasure from this kinda stuff. There's no poetic justice here, it's a stupid fight over nothing that got lethal for no good reason.

2

u/cockypock_aioli Apr 16 '26

Yeah I mean that's fair, I certainly don't want her to get hurt. This video might be a bad example because like you said, this fight is pretty stupid. In general though sometimes it's satisfying to see a bit of karma get someone.

2

u/LukaCola Apr 16 '26

Oh I can get that, sure, my response is mostly about other people's... Eagerness to recreate it to someone who hasn't personally wronged them.

But yeah, someone getting the consequences of their actions can be totally satisfying. I just have a hard time seeing this as a reasonable consequence, it's like, if she busted her face on the hood by accident because the driver tried to avoid her and got a bloody nose that'd be one thing. That feels appropriate. This just made me afraid I was about to watch a snuff film.

4

u/Somanylyingliars Apr 16 '26

The redditor you're replying to is nothing but a big talking keyboard warrior. Bet they would cry like a baby at sentencing. Their immaturity doesn't allow them to recognize actions have consequences. Consequences like the one the driver is experiencing with more to come. Here's a world class athlete working towards Olympics and now that's in jeopardy. I'm almost positive they'll be stripped of their place on team. All because they acted like a child.

6

u/Dapper_Platform_1222 Apr 16 '26

Dude, if a crazy person jumps on the roof of your car and acts in a threatening manner then you should have every right to drive off with them on that. This person is acting like a fool.

1

u/LukaCola Apr 16 '26

She didn't jump on the roof of her car, she was pushed onto the hood by the driver.

then you should have every right to drive off with them on that

Why? To prove a point? To "punish" them? That's not your prerogative, that's not your right, and no sane society should make it the right of everyday yahoos like yourself to decide what the appropriate punishment for a behavior is--and that's why we prosecute people who do take it into their own hands.

This person is acting like a fool.

And you think playing her game, demonstrating yourself as the bigger fool, is going to prove anything to those who care?

I know this subreddit loves being vindictive, how much do you trust your local judge to be as short sighted as the morons who are advocating for what you are?

5

u/Simon-Says69 Apr 16 '26

The car driver was being attacked by an aggressive criminal. They handled it well, attempting to get away before the lunatic could damage or worse, enter her car.

All of your mental gymnastics are irrelevant. Karen that attacked the car is wrong. Driver will is just fine.

→ More replies (0)

2

u/Thelmara Apr 16 '26

They both did something stupid, but the woman in the car is far more reckless.

Really? Driving at highway speeds is more reckless than climbing on the hood of a moving car and talking shit to the driver?

1

u/LukaCola Apr 16 '26

If you have to omit "while someone is on top of your car" then you know what's more reckless and dangerous. Your own omission reveals what we both know to be true, and if you wanna play stupid games, I hope you understand you'll get stupid prizes.

All of this could have been avoided. Now she's put her career at jeopardy.

1

u/duckndalaw Apr 16 '26

I mean I see both of y'all's points, I didn't realize this was in Australia at first, but being an American, and living in a state where castle doctrine applies to your car? I immediately thought driving off was the right decision, because a lot of people I know would have shot her through the windshield and very little if anything would have been done about it. Is that right? Hell no? But I'd rather just shake the crazy bitch off than just start blasting.

2

u/LukaCola Apr 16 '26

and living in a state where castle doctrine applies to your car?

That's magic castle doctrine thinking my guy, there is no state where you are allowed to murder someone for fucking with your car.

Like, my word, y'all are gonna get someone killed and (hopefully) be sent to jail for a completely bad understanding of the law.

She didn't pose an imminent threat. Self defense is not a valid argument when there is no imminent threat. Like, if nothing else, please understand that. Your LIFE has to be in CLEAR AND PRESENT DANGER before you can take actions that will knowingly risk another's.

But I'd rather just shake the crazy bitch off than just start blasting.

The fact you, and apparently others, only see these two options is insanity to me and really speaks to how pathetic we've become as a nation.

Like, no, sorry--you can suffer the indignation and do nothing if she won't let you go. You're not trapped, you're not in danger. You do not get to run people over for blocking your path. Your inconvenience is not more precious than her life, no matter how in the wrong or obnoxious she is. Have some integrity, please.

3

u/sembias Apr 16 '26

You're right.

Except if they're in Texas or Florida. Then it's whoever is whiter with a penis wins.

7

u/Dapper_Platform_1222 Apr 16 '26

2

That's the saddest part of the whole thing

1

u/serabine Apr 17 '26

Oh no, one of the two shit people in the clip had to face consequences for being shit? The humanity!

2

u/DrownmeinIslay Apr 16 '26

The look on her face is gonna keep me in a good mood for 3 days.

2

u/Mysmokingbarrel Apr 16 '26

You guys do realize that slamming on the brakes even at slower speeds and throwing someone off your car onto asphalt could cause life threatening injuries right? The smart thing to do in this situation when your life clearly isn’t in jeopardy would be to call the cops. It’s not worth screwing up your life to stick it to some other crazy person. Now if this lady seemed like she had a gun or was legitimately about to somehow cause you bodily harm then yeah things would be different. Dumb all around on both sides.

A kid on my town died like this when I was younger. He was well liked by everyone, the town was devastated. School had let out and one of his friends was in his car and the kid must’ve jumped on the hood playing around, his buddy did what you said, hit the gas then the brakes and the kid flew off and probably landed on his back whacking the back of his head on the ground which killed him. From what I understand the two were good friends, obviously the driver has to carry that for the rest of his life. That’s just one of the ways this could’ve wound up being manslaughter.

I feel like the chance for death if she slammed the breaks is way higher than forcing her to slip off

You understand *she* risked *her own life* jumping on the hood of a moving vehicle, right? Like she is her own person who chose to do that; let's not take away her autonomy. No one else made her jump on and continue to egg on the driver by repeatedly saying "go on" no less than 5 times and calling the driver names.

0

u/Somanylyingliars Apr 16 '26

You understand that the driver has a lethal weapon that can KILL under her hands? Apparently you don't or you wouldn't be saying such stupid things.

2

u/cuntpimp Apr 16 '26 edited Apr 16 '26

I do understand that which is why I don’t stand in front of moving cars or try to hop on them! I definitely don’t egg people on, especially living in America where people will kill you over road rage.

Like genuinely, be so fr. If you agree a car is a LETHAL WEAPON, why are you jumping in front of it????

-2

u/AbbreviationsNew6964 Apr 16 '26

Yeah but also escalating it makes you culpable, which we see here is what happens. If the lady died the driver would be in bigger trouble

6

u/Edharrel7 Apr 16 '26

Graves are full of people that were right.

1

u/Somanylyingliars Apr 16 '26

So are jails.

2

u/xToksik_Revolutionx Apr 16 '26

At least the jail means you lived.

6

u/cuntpimp Apr 16 '26

I didn’t say that the driver didn’t escalate the situation haha the comment just insinuates only the driver is at fault for risking “another” life - no, she risked her own life the second she jumped on the hood of the car

It’s the way you phrased it. “Actively risking the life of another” isn’t what happened in /this situation/, is it? It was a /reaction/ to a lady /already/ risking her own life

Sane people protecting their own life don’t actively stand in front of cars

2

u/prudentWindBag Apr 16 '26

I quite like existing.

I don't have a single memory of jumping on a moving vehicle and agitating its operator...

Not one.

1

u/RayLiotaWithChantix Apr 16 '26

And they actively risked it further.

You're REALLY reaching to pull the worst faith interpretation of their comment, and it seems strange that you keep doubling down on it.

I usually have time to kill. I'd sit there completely silent until the crazy lady got bored and walked away. Wouldn't film it or anything.

Jumping on your car is not assaulting you. Good Lord.

1

u/Somanylyingliars Apr 16 '26

You would lose the case. You're inside of a lethal weapon vs a person. What you do is wait. Wait for cops to arrive and deal w the lady. You don't drive off increasing speed.

1

u/AbbreviationsNew6964 Apr 16 '26

A) Maybe slow down and soon as soon as she shower fear instead of watching her fall? B) Lock the doors and call the cops if there’s too much crazy traffic around.

Not gonna lie we all daydream of this scenario.

5

u/Soft_Oven1913 Apr 16 '26

5

u/Langstudd Apr 16 '26

Nah; braking would put her under the car unless the driver came to a complete stop afterwards

1

u/r0b0c0d Apr 16 '26

Going off the side makes it easy for a limb to end up under the wheels. A complete hard brake seems likely to be safer in my head, but it'd depend on your tires and vehicle weight I suppose. Always driven light stuff with short braking distances - rubber tends to give more traction than jeans... and.. skin. :E

3

u/Langstudd Apr 16 '26

You think going off the side is more dangerous than going off the front? The original comment implies going fast enough to where coming to a complete stop immediately afterwards is unlikely

1

u/r0b0c0d Apr 16 '26 edited Apr 16 '26

It's a little complex, but I am assuming threshold braking.

https://www.westssom.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/Stopping-Distances.pdf

https://www.kawasakiworld.com/threads/how-far-did-you-slide.2478/

It's tough to calculate sliding distances for people since there's tumbling and gear/lack factors in. Keep in mind this is coming from a motorcyclist perspective.

Tires and brakes are specifically engineered to come to a stop in as short a distance as possible, which is not the case for a human body.

Heavier vehicles have longer stopping distances, and much depends on brakes/tires, but yes I think there is a good chance that if you full brake to a complete stop, you will not hit a person who has been thrown from your hood by the maneuver assuming that all your equipment is in good condition. Seems like a good project for a mythbuster style channel tbh.

Obviously it takes less than threshold braking to throw the person off to begin with, so maybe the risk of bad brakes is greater than the risk of a limb going under from the side. I'm not sure; there are a ton of variables. But I'm fairly confident that a track-ready vehicle, at least, would be able to stop significantly faster.

edit: Found another stopping-distance comment in the cars forum regarding vehicle stopping distances -- https://www.reddit.com/r/cars/comments/5ereyl/how_much_faster_do_f1_cars_brake/daepb76/

They're estimating about .8-1G of braking for a modern car with good tires, which would be significantly less than some of these reported motorcyclist slide distances.

1

u/cyrusthemarginal Apr 16 '26

and also most likely result in an immediate open head injury

1

u/the_orange_lantern Apr 16 '26

That’s what slam on the brakes means, come to a full stop she slides off and hopefully you’ve got enough time to reverse and get out of there

1

u/Langstudd Apr 16 '26

Ok I know we’re getting in the weeds here but slamming on the brakes doesn’t imply that you come to a complete stop. It just means you slow down rapidly. You could slam on the brakes from 80 mph down to 60 mph

2

u/Big-Blind-Eyeball Apr 16 '26

For a second I thought she was heading for the grass to dump her off nicely

5

u/BlackhawkBolly Apr 16 '26

Lmfao no you absolutely would not, redditors larping about a psychotic situation

2

u/Zestyclose_Remove947 Apr 16 '26

How rude interrupting their little cute murder fantasy over a tiny slight!

People are fucking insane thinking they'd drive faster and just straight up murder a person.

1

u/thatcakeisfake Apr 16 '26

Thank you for being rational. I was just thinking this. Like, no you wouldn’t lol

0

u/the_orange_lantern Apr 16 '26

lol you have no idea what I’ve experienced in my life

4

u/Somanylyingliars Apr 16 '26

Oh please Billy Bad Ass what have you experienced that would be worth killing someone because OMG they're on my car hurt durr

2

u/DirtyMike69 Apr 17 '26

1

u/Unhappy-Mix-6246 Apr 17 '26

Go on tough guy, give us an example!!

1

u/AyKayAllDay47 Apr 16 '26

Do a barrel roll!

1

u/idkxxi Apr 16 '26

i feel like the act of stopping to make her let go would’ve created more punishments for the 6mo license suspension the driver already received. idk but I feel like driving and speeding off with no regards to what happens to the crazy is less intent to injure then to try and slam on the breaks and fling her from the car. i can barely keep up with my own country’s laws & this didn’t even happen in my country.

1

u/the_orange_lantern Apr 16 '26

Probably depends on the state this is taking place, my state is very heavy on being able to protect yourself.

1

u/brutinator Apr 16 '26

The thing is "protecting yourself" generally means that you are within your right to ONLY use force escalation that meets the a reasonable assessment of the threat you are facing, and ONLY so much as to escape danger.

In this confrontation, the belligerent is unarmed, and the person being threatened is operating a 1-ton deadly machine. If the belligerent pulled out a gun? Sure. But very, very few courts are going to accept a defense that you were in so much danger that you HAD to create a situation where she was at excessive risk of being maimed or killed. It doesnt really matter that she was putting herself in front of the stopped car like that (just like how its wrong for drivers to run through protesters), at no point was the driver at a reasonable risk of main or death that warranted putting the belligerent at such risk.

1

u/Somanylyingliars Apr 16 '26

A car is a lethal weapon. Nothing like catching a murder charge after the person slides off and you run them over. Or they hit their head on curb and instadie. Nothing like spending rest of your life in prison because of decision made by childish temper.

1

u/Kytyngurl2 Apr 16 '26

Easier to explain to the cops too. “I just panicked.” Do it quick.

1

u/forlorn_hope28 Apr 16 '26

My only thought is if she flies off your car, slams her head, and bleeds out, then you're likely in a world of trouble even if you claim she started it. Because otherwise, I'd likely do the same.

1

u/jon2dk Apr 16 '26

A couple of my friends fucked around in high school. Friend 1 jumps on the hood of friend 2's car. Friend 2 speeds up to maybe 10 MPH then swerves a bit and hits the brakes. Friend 1 flies off the hood, hits his head on the pavement, fractured his skull and spent two weeks in the hospital. Bad stuff can happen in an instant.

1

u/ruat_caelum Apr 16 '26

rips fingers off. Look up "De-gloved hand"

1

u/Portugearl Apr 16 '26

Nothing like good old murder as a response to a minor annoyance eh?

1

u/NutsonYoChin88 Apr 16 '26

Might be worth it in the moment until she presses charges for attempted murder..

1

u/pyalot Apr 16 '26

It usually works in an APC when the alien hangs off the windscreen.

1

u/Street_Top3205 Apr 16 '26

I'm not saying I know the laws thoroughly, but that's kind of have an "intention" to do harm, probably won't do well in court.

Personally I'll just drive around in circles in the parking lot until she can't hold on anymore and has to drop off.

1

u/Fine-Sky-6562 Apr 16 '26

I love how she asked "are you going to let go now" and the lady nodded yes, and then the driver still didn't slow down. That bozo got everything she deserved.

1

u/TheAsianTroll Apr 16 '26

Ngl if I was in this situation id be doing my best to make her sick.

Left-right quick swerves. Stop and go, super hard braking. Mabe even find a parking lot and drive in a tight circle for a while.

1

u/marvin_bender Apr 16 '26

From a legal perspective that might be worse, as it is easier to claim you meant harm. This way you can play stupid that you were afraid and just drove away.

1

u/pumpkins21 Apr 16 '26

That’s what I was expecting lol

1

u/Erolok1 Apr 16 '26

If you ever happen to be in such an situation I would advise you not to do that. It is almost guaranteed to kill the person. They would fall with their head with high speed on concrete. Even a fraction of that speed will kill.

1

u/The_Whogg Apr 16 '26

Yep a quick 0-20-0 does the job way better than depositing her in the middle of the M1.

1

u/DirtyMike69 Apr 17 '26

Enjoy your prison sentence I guess. I don’t think it’s safe for you to interact with the rest of society with that kinda mindset, maybe you need to take a time out

1

u/Brief_Worldliness162 Apr 17 '26

Oaf at the skin grating on road

1

u/Volcacius Apr 17 '26

A friend of mine killed her boyfriend like this. He hopped on the car as a joke, not even going fast in the drive way, she hit the breaks, he hit his head, he never woke up from his coma.

1

u/Equivalent_Service20 Apr 17 '26

You’d get arrested and convicted like the driver in the video did. This is why we have GTA, can’t do that at all IRL.

1

u/Rhinoseri0us Apr 16 '26

You might run her over which would be your fault.

1

u/Raztax Apr 16 '26

Or she could be hit her head on the pavement when she goes flying off the car.

2

u/the_orange_lantern Apr 16 '26

That sounds like the consequences of jumping onto a cars hood to me

1

u/Raztax Apr 16 '26

Which could result in serious charges for the driver. Don't be a dumbass.

1

u/Somanylyingliars Apr 16 '26

Sounds like consequences of life in prison for killing someone by running them over w lethal weapon to me.

1

u/the_orange_lantern Apr 16 '26

Yeah if you didn’t slam on the brakes like I mentioned already lol

1

u/Rhinoseri0us Apr 16 '26

Harder than one would think.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 16 '26

You'd like to potentially kill someone for being an idiot?

2

u/the_orange_lantern Apr 16 '26

I don’t think you’d die if I was going 15mph and slammed on the brakes lol

1

u/[deleted] Apr 16 '26

Someone could die from that. Weird shit can happen. You don't think someone falling and hitting their head on pavement could end in death or serious permanent injuries? Again, putting someone's life in danger because they did something dumb is very stupid and careless.

1

u/dumbsoldier987hohoho Apr 16 '26

The problem is you are misjudging how fast 15mph would be. That is “going fast” for the average bicycle rider. Now imagine that but been thrown backwards and the back of your head hitting pavement at 15mph without any bracing for impact.

Also 15mph would feel like nothing in a car so the average person would likely think they need more speed.

1

u/Mach5Driver Apr 16 '26

what if she flies off, hits the back of her head and dies or gets massive brain trauma? I couldn't live with that. I can sit in my comfy car far longer than anyone can stand in front of my car.

1

u/the_orange_lantern Apr 16 '26

I don’t think I’d stick around to find out, I’d be calling the cops and driving down the road

1

u/VictorVaughan Apr 16 '26

You would attempt to kill someone for a parking lot disagreement?

1

u/the_orange_lantern Apr 16 '26

lol I don’t think you’d die if I was going 15 mph and and stopped the car

0

u/VictorVaughan Apr 16 '26

She was going 35-40 mph

1

u/the_orange_lantern Apr 16 '26

That’s what she did, not what I said I would do lol I said I’d speed up and slam on my brakes aka hit the gas and then hit the brakes. You should work on reading comprehension before starting arguments about theoretical scenarios

0

u/VictorVaughan Apr 16 '26

You didn't specify that you would do it slower than this woman was driving lol... I think it's your communication skills that need improvement. I can't read your mind. I need my glasses to read something so small

1

u/the_orange_lantern Apr 16 '26

lol I was describing what I would do in this situation, the situation started at a stop, not at full speed. Whatever you need to tell yourself buddy have a good day

0

u/VictorVaughan Apr 16 '26

Better luck next time

1

u/the_orange_lantern Apr 16 '26
