Two people could not look any less alike for a mother son cast

The 90s Cinderella movie with Brandy and Whitney Houston disagrees.

I love that one. The best live-action Cinderella by far. The one where the stepmother was white (Bernadette Peters), with one white daughter and one Black daughter, and the King was white, the Queen was Black (Whoopi Goldberg) and their son the prince was Filipino.

so the rise of red is keeping a tradition alive is what you are saying

This is the BEST live action Cinderella

I really like it! Whitney Houston is 100% the best Fairy Godmother.

DUUUUUUDE she was incredible!! Everyone in the cast was but wow what a perfect fit

Harrison Ford as the son and Zendaya as the mom

I know dozens of families that look exactly Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, and Tom Holland (though not as objectively hot usually). Elite private schools are stuffed full of them.

Lol your comment gave me an almost Pavlovian instinct to call you yuppie (or preppie) scum.

u/SlowDontRush Jul 06 '26

Kinda rude but okay

That’s just not true. They’re not obscenely different or anything. Heaps of people and their parents I know look way less alike

Agreed

They were trying to give a bunch of A-listers a paycheck and a Nolan movie for their resumé

6

u/Every-Two-4848 Jul 05 '26

I mean considering some other choices they made, I don’t even think there was a casting department….it was all HR.

3

u/princessviridian Jul 05 '26

I somehow thought Elliot Page was playing Anne Hathaway’s son and I thought that was really good casting…

12

u/JamStan1978 Jul 05 '26

they could be completely different races and they would look even less like mother and son so youre wrong.

11

u/the_cave_allegory Jul 05 '26

Right? I hate when people exaggerate like this. There's so many more better examples of horrible casting for families. I actually look at this stuff in every movie.

Not everything is meant to be taken literally..

4

u/CrazyElk123 Jul 05 '26

Ah okay, so how should i read your comment then?! Exactly.

6

u/IcyOrganization1748 Jul 05 '26

You should read it with whimsy and an open heart ❤️

Hyperbolicly.

Take it as a direct personal attack and go scorched earth. Type out a long comment with revisions but ultimately get bored, realize you didn’t care that much anyway, and delete the comment.

Space out watching r/traincats

Reddit is full of insufferable pedants to the point you have to catch and stop yourself from listing every possible exception or extremely rare situation to a situation lol

2

u/CjBurden Jul 05 '26

While that's true, there really isn't another way to interpret your comment.

1

u/BankElectronic1325 Jul 05 '26

Other than the way where it’s very obviously not literal, sure.

1

u/Witty-Example-4291 Jul 05 '26

Not every observation needs a hyperbolic response.

2

u/True_Protection6842 Jul 05 '26

But they were told this casting choice would sell tickets!

3

u/BeeExpert Jul 05 '26

You think casting two super popular actors won't sell tickets? They don't look that different anyway, they could be mother/son in real life and no one would bat an eye. Not everyone looks identical to their parents lol

-2

u/True_Protection6842 Jul 05 '26

Did you even read my comment. Of course it will. This shit movie was custom made to sell as many tickets as possible.

3

u/BeeExpert Jul 05 '26

Everyone in this thread is acting like this casting choice was poor because of the ages. Idk why reddit hates this movie so much lol.

Did you know almost every movie ever was made to sell as many tickets as possible?

-2

u/True_Protection6842 Jul 05 '26

Every studio trash built to be a product and not a work of art...correct. Most independent films are made to tell a good story.

1

u/BeeExpert Jul 05 '26

So what is it about this one that is so different? You dont like any movies made by big studios? I preferer independent films too, but I'm not going to pretend there havent a lot of great films from big studios lol

0

u/True_Protection6842 Jul 05 '26

Everything I've seen on this movie looks like yet another made for the lowest common denominator slop fest like Oppenheimer that had nothing to do with history and everything to do with really shitty writing and name dropping. Nolan is a hack

1

u/BeeExpert Jul 05 '26

Haven't seen Oppenheimer. But I'm curious what you mean by everything youve seen. You mean like the trailer and pictures?

0

u/True_Protection6842 Jul 06 '26

That and all the hype they're trying to build.

What about Taylor Swift as the mom and Denzel Washington as the son?

1

u/EthosLogosPetros Jul 05 '26

i got piled on for this but Nolan’s insistence on casting only within his fifty person friend group is getting very old

1

u/ifeelnumb Jul 05 '26

They certainly don't look greek.

0

u/AX-10 Jul 05 '26

Margot Robbie and Sam jackson.

1

u/jdubzakilla Jul 05 '26

They arr pratically the same person
