It’s very basic sewing - running a needle and thread in a basic stitch in ready perforated fabric. Not like making a dress haha

Most people these days would freak out at the thought of a kid being within reach of a needle

We had these in kindergarten. It was plastic or wood and on a wooden board with holes drilled into it to run the yarn through. I think my mother mentioned doing the same kind in the 70s.

No poke risk!

I had a plastic cross stitch grid/yarn/plastic needle when I was a bit older and then my grandma taught me to embroider with a real needle when I was like 10-12ish. I’d also get to “help” my grandma at her sewing machine. Sorry grandma.

I bet your grandmother had a wonderful time with you.

I remember the tiniest bit of sewing a "path" for a bug on burlap for a little crafts project in kindergarten. I probably got there that day in the bed of an uncovered pickup though.

i'm in my 20s and i had sewing when i was in preschool. we'd get squares of felt with shapes drawn on them and we'd sew along the outline in a running stitch. i very specifically remember being fascinated by the tomato-shaped pin cushion the preschool used lol

In '97 my kinder class had a workshop area with hammers, nails and a hand saw.

Guess who got in trouble for sawing the play wooden blocks instead of the scrap wood. Oh yeah, this guy!
