MISC. Michael Jackson was performing in Seoul in 1996 when a fan climbed up a crane to reach him. MJ held onto the fan securely to prevent him from falling, all while continuing his performance

Elvis came before the Beatles.

I said I wasn’t a music historian. 😏

And being from Memphis, I probably shouldn’t have gotten that wrong. But in order to one up you, I will just note that, apparently, Sinatra was probably the literal first in the 40s, then Elvis in the 50s, then the Beatles.

Holy fascinating read, Batman. Didn’t realize that Phoenix song was a reference to an actual phenomenon, but it makes perfect sense!

Beethoven used to get absolutely dogpiled at shows

Definitely Liszt. He started the whole "-mania" thing with Lisztomania and is often called history's first rock star.

I was just gonna comment this. This was in the 1830s and 40s so probably the oldest we can get. Checks all the boxes too, screaming, fainting, trying to touch the guy, swarming him, and taking his stuff post-concert (back then it was gloves).
