Nah, that’s just straight up stupid. Its a shared home and you do not just straight up throw away things without informing the other. Im married and its common sense to ask first.

Yeah, unless something is completely 100% mine I won't throw it away without at least asking my wife.

Wife tells husband, "That piece of furniture is ugly, I'm going to toss it and get a new one." Husband replies "Yeah, just don't do it yet, I need to clean it out." Two weeks later: "You cleaned that thing out yet?" "Not yet, I'm still working on other stuff." Three weeks later: "Clean that thing out because I'm going to toss it next week." "Yeah yeah I'll do it." Four weeks later: "YOU DID WHAT??!!?!?!?!"

Still not a reason. In this scenario i would force them to clean it out the day i would need to toss it. Gave them enough time

Had this happen to me (though on a lesser scale). Got a deadline, agreed to the deadline, missed the deadline. Real world hurts sometimes.

I think you missed the whole "without telling your spouse" qualifier. You gave an example scenario where the fault lies entirely in the husband's laziness since the wife DID bring it up to the husband, multiple times even.

Yeah I ask my wife before I toss a rusty spoon and she's going to ask me before she tosses even a random screw because we know how each other feel about these things a whole ass piece of furniture is an in-depth discussion about could it go to another room then can we use it in the garage then maybe sell it finally as a last resort I get to break it down and toss it!

You jest, but this is the correct way, if i am going to throw a bunch of rust stuff, i collect them and put them in a box or bag or w/e, and have them take a look before we throw them away.

There is almost always some benefit that can be extracted from old stuff before throwing them away, my closer friend is a handyman, i always give them the stuff i am gonna throw to take a look at, most of the times they extract materials &/or spare parts from them.

I promise no jest here all seriousness and yeah the reason I break down the end pieces is for the sweet sweet extraction of last valuables

i get that this is probably how most marriages are, but to those people who this applies, why do you marry someone that has zero communication with you?

1

u/Adi_San 14h ago

It's not that. If you've been married for a while some things are less likely/important to be discussed than other stuff.

I'd say it's more of a problem that a spouse would not mention the hidden compartment than anything, my husband would tell me 'hey this is where the secret stash is' so then there would be no problems. I'm assuming they are hiding the stuff from burglars not each other.

1

u/Adi_San 14h ago

Yes correct. The break in communication would be not mentioning a big stack of cash hidden in that scenario not a wife making a decoration change.

u/Jezirath 19h ago

I'm not a guy, lol.

Sounds like you have a horrible spouse with zero communication skills tbh.
