Question about Islam How to praise Allah properly while making dua

I always say, "ya Allah your the greatest and the most merciful" and I send salawat to the prophet (pbuh) and then I ask for whatever I want. But recently I've been thinking, maybe my praise for Allah is too short.

Seeking Support This has been a really rough year

I won't go into very much detail but this year my Muslim mother got into gambling, she never gambled before, never drunk alcohol, never did drugs, her only addiction she struggles with is cigarettes. Every night she comes home and tells me about the money she lost and won, she knows it's haram and doesn't use it for personal use but still, what's the point? She's lost thousands of her own money for money she won't even use.

In the beginning she justified gambling because my brother struggled with substance abuse and needed money, so everytime I would ask her to stop she would say anything she gets she gives to him when he bothers her with money which was almost everyday. She doesn't work.

My brother on the other hand is somewhat recovering from substance abuse for many years and his mind seems to slowly be fading. For the past month he's been telling me about him seeing signs and dreams of Christianity (Authobillah) and usually I try talking sense into him but it's very strange, he keeps saying things like father, son and the holy Spirit so casually and it really confuses me. He's never been like this. He still believes in Allah but only he knows what's in his heart.

I couldn't ever tell my mum this because I know it would possibly cause her to have a heart attack. She's previously told me she thinks he may believe in something else but he doesn't tell her what he tells me because he knows she couldn't bare it. So I'm just left to carry this. It's truly been a trying year but Alhamdulilah always, I cannot guide whom I love, I just hope my mum doesn't suffer from whatever the outcome is.

If you have no words of support please do keep me in your prayers, Dua is so much more powerful than we think. Jzk

General Discussion What do I do, I've made some terrible mistakes

I was invited to a birthday celebration with my friends. And it turned out to be in a bar pizzeria... I probably could have and should have known, Boston pizza would have a bar and yet I just couldn't think of it i guess but I guess I also didn't wanna let my friends down or give them a poor image of "Muslims can't have fun or do anything", "too many restrictions". I still should've found a way to not go any excuse...

I sat there and enjoyed my time and got a vegetarian pizza, and now looking back I have no idea what was it the pizza, there could be contamination, the cheese could have animal related ingredients as many cheeses do, or the pizza sauce could contain alcohol. I ate it and I tasted one of the cookies they got. I feel horrible, I wanna make myself throw up but its too late. I also missed my prayers due to coming home late and exhausted. I'm not the best Muslim by any means, in fact I still don't cover my head or read the Quran daily as I should but I really am trying to at the very least pray on time, and the bare minimum was eating correctly and today that changed.

I genuinely feel horrible, this is after some good things that happened in my education a few days ago and I was so thankful to Allah I really wanted to be better and yet this is how I thank Him? Im a horrible person.

Question about Islam Is my purpose just to pass the test?

Is my purpose in this world just to pass this test? What about the dreams I want to achieve here? I want to be a scientist In Sha Allah. I want to research and find out more about the things Allah gave us in this dunia. That's okay as long as it doesn't keep me away from Allah right? I have so much I want to do and learn and achieve, is it okay to want both? Is it okay for me to strive towards all my purely worldly goals here?

Seeking Support Sometimes I wanna leave Islam.

Im never going to stop believing in God but sometimes I see non-Muslims talking about God and I kind of feel like what am I doing here? Is this the right religion? I see those Hadiths going around and they confuse me a lot and I feel like maybe they are right.

I’m also low on faith and I don’t usually pray a lot, coming from someone who was super religious but due to mental health I lost it all. I also feel super weird about covering up, niqab and all.

Can anyone tell me how to tackle it? I love Allah swt but I’m so tired of doubts in my heart. Which are never for Allah just the Hadiths and some parts of Islam.

Question about Islam is allahs love unconditional

i’ve been thinking lately about love as a whole and how ive started to believe all love is conditional to an extent and this got me wondering if allahs love is conditional upon the fact that we worship only him and pray and if we committed shirk or stopped praying would allah still love us, and yeah i know allah loves a sinner who repents but what if he didn’t repent or just didn’t believe does allah still love that being because at the end of the day that’s his creation and why condemn him to hell if he knows he will never believe. would appreciate if anyone could explain it to me

Quran & Hadith Such a short yet powerful dua for forgiveness

Post image

This is the supplication of Prophet Musa (peace be upon him) after he struck a man who then died, an act he immediately regretted. It is from Surah al-Qasas, verse 16. Perfect short dua suited to any moment when you realize you have done wrong and want to turn back to Allah. May He accept all our repentance ameen.

Question about Islam Halal butchering

Hello, I wanted to make this post to try to find someone to talk to. I am a Christian with zero hates to other religions and cultures. I was tasked by a person of Muslim faith to help him slaughter rabbits. (Sunni islam) I just wanted to learn more about it so I don’t ruin the time and cause the meat to be haram.

Thank you in advance, peace and blessings to all of you

Edit: thank you for the advice that has been shared anything more in welcome, but thank you to all that have commented thus far

Seeking Support I want to wear hijab

Hello!! Im hana and i was born into a muslim family. I have always believed in islam but during middle school and into highschool i lost my faith and i was never a consistent prayer. Recently i wanted to learn more about islam since i dont know much about it. I wanted to strengthen my faith. I pray much better now and yes i still forgot some prayers or skip them but i am much better than i have ever been. My younger sister wears the hijab, and since then all my family has been pressuring me. Im even surprised my dad told me i need to start thinking about it since im entering university soon (My mom says theyd never force me though). So my issue is that i am very insecure about my looks and whenever i try on the hijab i feel so uncomfortable. My hair is the best thing about me its whats most special and i feel like covering it means i lose a part of myself. But i really want to wear it and im always at fear that if i dont wear it ever even if i pray and try to be a good muslim i will go to hell because i am not wearing the hijab. I am an adult now and i feel so stressed because i have not worn it yet. Especially since everyone around me isnt wearing it either. Please give me advice i am really lost i feel so much guilt but it is still not strong enough to make me cover my hair.

Quran & Hadith Need help getting started reading the Quran.

Hi everyone, I'm a woman from the UK & I've been studying the Bible for around a year, they are things about the Bible I'm unsure on but I have stuck to it none the less just because I like to see things through once I commit.

I have been looking into Islam very casually and from what little I've seen & learned, I am not hating what I am learning. Instead I am intrigued.

I'm not from a religious background but I have always believed in God and prayed & now I want to find the truth and serve God.

I've got a Quran now from The Quran Project, it's apparently easy to read & easy to understand which I need as I do tend to get overwhelmed when reading.

Just wondering if anyone has any tips on how to start the Quran? Is there a certain place I should start as a beginner or a certain place to start that might make it easier to understand?

Thanks in advance 🫶🏽

Question about Islam Im losing faith in Allah.

I fear Allah.
I do.
I don’t know what’s happening. I have been quite depressed for some time I guess, so maybe that is also a factor.
I question things a lot.
It breaks my heart and makes me want to cry.
I can’t even pray. But even when times get hard,
All I can think about it Allah.
But at the same time, I’m losing my belief.
I fear him, it makes me scared thinking there is so god.
Even typing this, I’m scared.
But I don’t know.

Seeking Support Im not a 'good' muslim

I pray all my 5 prayers consistently, subuh, zuhur, asr, magrib, isha but i still feel a void.

Am i a good muslim who follows the teachings of muhammad and the quran.

Even when people do awful things to me, i forgave them because that what muhammad would do.

Even if i had doubts about allah i still prayed even with my diagnosis

General Discussion Why doesn’t Allah consider me worthy of listening to

Ive been drawing away from islam and have almost lost about all my faith. Couple years back, i used to sin more than i do now. But somehow Allah always answered my prayers. I got everything I wanted. I got to go abroad, get the person i wanted, got into my dream university. Anything i asked him, he gave me.

Then i stopped sinning. I became a better muslim. Kept Allah as my priority. And suddenly, everything collapsed. The guy i loved cheated on me and is happily married now with a great career. I lost my career, couldnt pursue further education. I kept being steadfast. I did everything i was supposed to.

For more than a year, i prayed tahajud regularly and cried in sujud. I fasted voluntarily and made dua while breaking the fast, i gave alot of charity. But Allah chose to ignore me. I didnt want an exact thing anymore, i just wanted a door to open up. A way to be made. I belived that God will be as I precive him so I thought of him as the One who would save me, help me, listen to me and make a way out. But nothing.
Things keep getting worse. He could’ve helped me. There couldve been a moment of ease after 2 years of failures and constant struggles. Now i resent the idea of making dua because i see no point.

Ik people who arent even religious and God made the impossible into possible for them. I just dont understand why i was never deserving of that. And if youre gonna say its because Allah tests those who he loves, even better muslims than me have their prayers answered, and theyre not suffering like I am. Im not saying i dont wanna be tested, but atleast help me out once in a while. I still pray all my salahs, but my heart isnt in it. I’ve learned that i will only get whats in my naseeb so why bother making dua? If my dua couldve changed qadr, it wouldve happened. I wish A was as kind to me as i have seen him be to others. Ik he doesn’t owe us anything, but it hurts when He’s accepting everyone’s dua but you dont make the cut.

Question about Islam How to dispose of Islamic texts and other Abrahamic texts respectfully?

I’m unsure what to do , given that it’s disrespectful to throw Islamic texts away, and that other Abrahamic texts aside from Islam could have some parts of uncorrupted message, and that I have a cross cut shredder and I’m aware it could not be enough.

Seeking Support Please make dua for my cat, he ran away

My cat has run away, and I've been crying nonstop and feeling so distressed. I can't stop thinking about him being out there, hungry and looking for me. He's so precious to me, and I'm desperately praying that he comes home safely.

Please make dua that Allah protects him from all harm, keeps him safe, provides for him, and guides him back home to me. I just want my baby back. PLEASE

News A Child’s Pain Must Never Become Normal

Post image
128 Upvotes

Perhaps I will surprise you if I tell you that this image is real, one hundred percent, and has not been altered using artificial intelligence.

This little girl lost her mother tonight in a brutal Israeli bombardment. Yes, she watched her mother burn to death, after losing her father as well just months ago. She herself was on the verge of dying the same way, had it not been for God's protection and the brave young men who intervened.

This scene is meant to become ordinary, normal, and repetitive, despite being deeply shocking, utterly brutal, and horrific.

After repeating this scene thousands upon thousands of times, Israel wants people to stop being outraged or moved by it. It wants them to turn their faces away once, then keep scrolling past it again and again.

This crime, along with countless others, is a war against God and against His creation. Its deliberate repetition is intended to destroy the very human instinct for compassion and decency with which people are born.

May Israel be cursed, and may all those who have befriended it, normalized relations with it, or colluded in the rivers of blood and scattered body parts be cursed as well!

I traveled a lot and I see so many animals especially dogs and cats sufferin, I cant get my head around the idea that they don’t go to heaven and that their suffering went to nothing?

can someone explain it to me please? I’m genuinely trying to understand this.
