I've seen the internet tear down celebs who grew up in majority black neighborhoods for using aave, saying they were "black fishing" and appropriating their culture for financial gain.
Obviously this tweet has no financial gain behind it. But I dont understand why it's not okay for famous people to do it.
Because people don't type out accents? It's not changing the word, it's how it's pronounced. The only reason you'd literally type it out phonetically is to make sure the person's race is clear so you can use it as the butt of a joke.
I’m black. I grew up around a lot of black people. Black people do, in fact, type out accents.
You’re giving off the vibe of “white person trying to be offended for black people,” which is always incredibly annoying and typically wrong, like now. Please stop.
I’ve literally see a bunch of people, especially mixed people I know, share this meme. Stop being offended on behalf of black people.
I mean, I assume you're just claiming to be black to support your position, but you clearly didn't have any actual interest in why I said what I did anyway. So trying to have a dialog probably isn't worth either of us using more of our time on it.
