Photo Question 9 cont…

Post image

Question 9 is a veto referendum on the 2024 gun law (Chapter 135): a NO vote repeals it. But here is what does not change either way — Massachusetts still requires a license to own or carry, and safety training to get one. Repeal the law and the pre-2024 rules remain, among the strictest in the country: licenses required, safety training required, sales tracked, red-flag petitions in place.

The 2024 law adds burdens on lawful owners — serialization requirements, expanded bans, a real-time registry — without creating the training standard. Training was required before this law, and it stays required whether the law is repealed or not.

Cops should be held to a much MUCH higher standard and unfortunately the opposite is true. Half these dudes are walking around with only a high school diploma. Uneducated and dangerous.

While I agree about holding them to a higher standard, I don't think level of education is relevant here.

OOOOOF... Unfortunately research that has been done for decades on social emotional learning, education level, etc. ALL have a massive correlation to the likelihood of violence. Cops are given the highest amount of authority, paired with the lowest amount of formal training and education, of any profession in our country. A barber in MA has to log more hours of on the job training and schooling than a cop. Cops are also responsible for the most domestic violence in relation to a career field. Over 50% of cops ADMIT to abusing their partner physically and/or emotionally.... And these dudes walk around with guns... But this isnt relevant!? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Bro common

It absolutely is relevant. In 2026, cops should be required to have at least a Bachelors. That or we can pay them less than we do teachers.

Please don't take my comment as pro cop. 100% let's pay them less than teachers and raise the standards, including real training, but I don't think they need college degrees.
