Photo Question 9 cont…

Post image

Question 9 is a veto referendum on the 2024 gun law (Chapter 135): a NO vote repeals it. But here is what does not change either way — Massachusetts still requires a license to own or carry, and safety training to get one. Repeal the law and the pre-2024 rules remain, among the strictest in the country: licenses required, safety training required, sales tracked, red-flag petitions in place.

The 2024 law adds burdens on lawful owners — serialization requirements, expanded bans, a real-time registry — without creating the training standard. Training was required before this law, and it stays required whether the law is repealed or not.

I’d argue it was the well organized militia part that did the heavy lifting

Alright, let's form our legally allowed militia then.

Yeah, like actually. If the left really wanted to challenge gun rights they would fund a militia in Massachusetts. It would be well regulated by the laws already in place.

Private militias are illegal under Massachusetts Law. I was being facetious there's no way to legally be part of an actual militia, the state has full authority over that.

Massachusetts National Guard is our state milita. After the Revolutionary War all state militas were reformed into the National Guard

Counter point, we should all have skills and know our neighbors so that we can be the well organized militia.

For many years Maura Healy has complained that the Second Amendment was a mistake. Consequently she has actively worked to limit our right to bear arms. She is an authoritarian.

This is the key phrasing that carries less weight now than as it was intended.

That would be each state’s National Guard

Supreme Court seemed to forget that part
