As a German I can confirm we only eat raw pork, pretzel and Bratwurst for lunch every day. We also only drink beer.

I’m hungry all the sudden and I’m Italian.

No their far right party is on the rise and therefore not welcoming newcomers. But I lived there some years ago and Mett is soooo good and of course their beer is on another level from the rest of the planet

As a true German I have to correct you: Raw Pork Beer of course

No, we like our meat raw and the beer cooked.

As a matter of fact, the beer ought to be cooked in a sausage while the mett ought to be frozen in a pretzel form thank you very much und guten Tag noch

As a German, I can confirm. I love my raw meat and Pretzels, and Bratwurst and Beer.

Yep. Everything else is a lie.

And we only wear Dirndl and Lederhosn all day long!

While wearing Lederhosen and Dirndls.

Oh ja, we do that very much. Und for special occasions we eat the Mettigel. It is a hedgehog made of Mett. Sehr lecker.

dont forget about the Mettigel for vesper

1

u/Cucumberneck 6h ago

Oh you people with your southern state slang. What is Vesper again?

1

u/IAmAPirrrrate 4h ago

its a small meal between Mittag and Abendbrot, can also mean straight up Abendbrot in some areas tho

1

u/Cucumberneck 4h ago

So... Deftiger Kaffee.

1

u/ichbinsflow 6h ago

To be fair the Mettigel has been out of fashion since the eighties.

Although we still do eat Mettbrötchen. Occasionally. Like - maybe twice a year. Unless you are a craftsman. Then you have it for breakfast every day.

Or you drive past a backers that has a window that opens towards the street so you can pick something up without having to go inside. It’s not really saving time but it sure feels like it and it’s just so convenient to pick up a Mettbrötchen as a treat.

I'm sorry I don't speak european. Could you translate in to normal?

2

u/Fun-Understanding258 8h ago

Mettigel is a compound word: Mett (minced, seasoned raw pork) + Igel (hedgehog)

You shape the meat into a sort of body and use thin slices of onion to make the quills.

2

u/Kind-Block-9027 8h ago

Or laugenstange (pretzel sticks) as quills

with pepper corns for eyes

Who's Matt Eagle?

u/igittigitt1972 6h ago

German here, can confirm Zwiebelmett for breakfast, Schnitzel for lunch and Bratwurst with Sauerkraut for dinner. Sometimes pork belly instead of Bratwurst or sourdough bread instead of Bratkartoffel. Every day!
Enjoy your meal!

Very wrong. Typical German lunch is the biggest meal of the day. Mett is served as Abendbrot (evening bread/dinner) or maybe a weekend breakfast/brunch
