You gotta keep info like this far away from the American media…..we’ve got RFK Jr. in charge of health FFS. We have a massive swath of morons drinking ivermectin and rejecting measles and calcium shots for their children. Not to mention all of the recalls on beef and food in the USA.
Yeah the thing is in Germany raw meat is heavily regulated and therefore we need to eat it on the same day, in general we're really careful with our productions like meat or eggs.
But Mettbrötchen (Mett-Bread) is absolutely sick, with a nice layer of salt, petter and ringed onions. The AI generated picture looks terrible btw.
At my last job, we had this every first Wednesday of the month. Team building. People called it Mettwoch (German pun combining Mittwoch [Wednesday] and Mett). It always took until Tuesday for the smell to disappear from the office kitchen.
What does "same day" mean? If course there's no leftovers with Mettbroetchen but if you buy a Mettbroetchen at the local tennis club, I doubt the Mett came this morning from the Metzger.
Side note: I love Mettbrötchen and had a lot of it after our weekly squash sessions.
Between mincing the meat and consuming it. It is minced the day it is sold at the Metzger, and you should consume it the same day, and you local tennis club will get into deep trouble with the Gesundheitsamt of they sell Mett from yesterday.
First its fresh meat - so only from the butcher, not from the supermarket
Then its eaten the day its been ground up much like a tartar
Some butchers do preseason it with salt, pepper and garlic and thats only to be sold the day they made it - any later and they will cook meatballs and similar dishes
You can get it at the supermarket, but i personally don't trust that. So i go to my local butcher, who is mincing it fresh and infront of the customers. It's one i am comfortable eating the day after. If older it get's use as normal minced meat as it is practically the same just minced finer than the regular stuff.
You dont need to eat it the same day if its packaged. Unless you mean after you put it on your roll in which case.. thats kinda true for all toppings? You dont leave a slice of cheese out either
Knowing German food is so safe, I’d be very willing to try Mettbrötchen, especially if I could load up on onions. I love onions so much. And alliums in general.
One of my dad's friends took ivermectin for COVID last month. It went poorly. He couldn't stop shitting and still had COVID. I was told he finally got out of the hospital this week.
During COVID, early Tests showed that ivermectin killed Corona in Petri dishes, in concentrations that would kill you. But antivaxxers only heard "Ivermectin Kills Corona", and that was that. Recently, social Media seems to be thinking that it can cure cancer....
The Mett is special selection of meat, which must be butchered, minced and sold on the same day.
Butchers do not use random scraps for Mett. They carefully select low-fat, low.Connective tissue cuts of pork (such as the shoulder or ham) that have minimal initial bacterial loads.
Yes, this was not something I would have eaten in the US even before the current nonsense. My high school biology teacher would describe what porkworms do to the human body (in great detail). Living in Germany the last 10 years I have tried it a couple of times. Not really my thing but I can see why people like it.
I think they're saying that Americans will start eating this without following food safety procedures or using quality ingredients, which will make them sick. I didn't get any inclination that they're making fun of the dish or culture itself.
