White Sox fan here
I just wanted to make a post in here, I just got done watching one of my fav movies ever Moneyball, and lately it’s taken on a whole new meaning ever since the A’s were taken from Oakland. I just wanted to say to this day I feel so much anger and sadness for what they did to yall. I can’t imagine the emotions I would feel if those rumors of the Sox moving to Nashville came true. It just goes to show you these owners view is nothing more than a walking bank account and nothing more. I hope one day the Athletics come back to where they belong in the great city of Oakland, along with the Raiders and Warriors.

The Coliseum: One More Memory
Some of my first memories were A's games at the Coliseum. My grandpa took me to A's games on Wednesdays as a kid. I thought I'd said goodbye to the Coliseum at the reverse boycott game.
Then the Oakland Roots moved in and I got two more season there.
I recently took my son to his first game at the Coliseum, ironically at what could be the last game at the Coliseum. I started writing about that day, but it turned into a story about what the Coliseum meant to me and how it became a place for generations of my family.
I usually write for Rootsblog, but I started a Substack to write short personal essays about raising my sons in the Bay and the memories that connect the two. Here's the first one. I hope you all enjoy.

New card of my favorite Oakland player
My favorite player is Eric Chavez, and one of my favorite sets is the 1959 Topps set. I recently saw the card on the left and had to add it to my collection! We really got spoiled as Oakland fans with him and Chapman at the hot corner for so long! #FJF

Canseco As vs Giants 89w.s.🏆
Pitch to the head video on fb.
Though growing up in NW Indiana is what most likely made me a White Sox fan, Loved Canseco as a youngster; still remember during the time he was still with the A's me and my step brother were crazy about collecting all his cards. So as a Sox fan, my first thought when I saw this video, I flash to when Buehrle took out Haffner in '05. However I don't think you're gonna ever hear me say; "Oh that did nothing to improve the odds for my '05 Sox to win the AL Central that season" anyways.. I wish I still had my Canseco cards. I even had I think the Score 86 or donruss rookie card. My swindling ex step brother heisted my card collection when our parents got divorced; Canseco was with Texas Rangers at that time because between the both of us, we had only one card each with him in the Texas uniform . Yeah he looked pissed in this video. Not sure if the pitcher did it intentionally though.

Old cap from grandfather
Hey friends.
German here, so no native speaker. My granddad died few weeks ago and when he was younger he visited parts of our family in the USA. From time to time he just bought things he liked, even he had no idea what he bought. Just... things, cause they looked good.
And thats why we found the cap in his belongings, great condition, bright colors. Maybe someone can tell me from what time that hat is? I think it must be from end of 90s or maybe 2000. I hope someone can help me.
Best wishes
Foxxi

What do we think? Is this something that we'd like to see, or would you rather send the Coliseum off with the final A's game in 2024 and the Roots game yesterday?

What likely is going to happen next with the Coliseum?
I went to The Roots last game and that felt like that could've been the last time I ever step foot in there again. I only see MLC but thats just a week during summer and I think they might be trying to change.

The Coliseum has no more events booked
Just learned that the Coliseum has no events booked after the Roots game tomorrow and that a few sources say it will likely be the last event ever held at the Coliseum. Or this version of the Coliseum at least.
I thought it would get better over time, but thinking about what John Fisher did still just makes me madder than anything. The idea that the heir to the gap fortune, along with 29 of his billionaire friends, unilaterally decided that an extra half million dollars was worth more than every sports fan in Oakland; the idea that someone with free will and that much money decided it would be worth their time to steal my joy of baseball.
I thought for a second that I was starting to accept the reality of the move, but I was wrong. I wish John Fisher nothing but misery(and Rob Manfred and Bud Selig too, among others).
The Coliseum closing just really shook me. FJF

A bad look for Matt Olson
We are five years removed from that time the Braves chose to let Freddie Freeman walk. Trade for Olson and go younger. Yet here we are. Freeman is going to Cooperstown as a Dodger when it's all said and done.
Olson fits in with the rest of the 21st Century A's players in the postseason.

This Saturday may be the last ever public event at the Coliseum
The Roots play on 10/10, and to my knowledge there aren’t any more games or public events scheduled there indefinitely. It’s been rumored to be demolished next year, though there’s not a lot of news on that front either.
I’m going to say goodbye to the brutalist behemoth and one of my favorites places in the world.

[Sports Info Solutions] Fielding Bible Awards Flashback: Daric Barton Beat Out The Best
Hi there- This is Mark Simon at Sports Info Solutions (the Defensive Runs Saved folks). With The Fielding Bible Awards scheduled for October 22, I'm doing a little reminiscing with players who won our award but didn't win a Gold Glove.
That led to a 30-minute chat with Daric Barton about his 2010 season. Thought the A's fans would enjoy the reminiscing and would like to hear what he's doing now.

7 yr ago was my first and last time up on Mt Davis for the 2019 wild card game
FJF. Was this also the last game they ever opened it for? Wasn't used in the final series either.

2026: A Season of FJF SELLebration
Some teams make the playoffs, some teams have winning records, some teams have non-nightmare owners, some teams have homes and fans.
Other teams get me and my son.
(Oh and we had another son this year so we are really stretching the generational grudge now.) Haunt you again whenever & wherever & whatever you are, A’s.
