The game looks absolutely beautiful and its definitely heavy af on the system, but I still don't think gta 6 running on ps5 "at all" is as wild as gta 5 running on ps3 AT ALL, ps5 and series x are two consoles that actually aged well compared to ps4 and ps3 being machines that held back half a generation worth of upgrades in many games. In fact I think ps5 and series x specs will be better than minimum pc requirements this time around... ofc they're consoles and offer devkits and they are also being prioritised so optimisation is better for the same specs on those but these are still decent machines.
I am talking gta 5 ps3 version itself, that shit looks insane for a hardware which had a generation start with stuff like the original oblivion (which itself was considered pretty great for 2006)
Idk if PS5 and XBSX will be higher than min PC specs this time around. The PS5/XBSX are basically a 5600 and rx 6700, hardware from 2021, 5 years ago and we have no PC release date. GTA 5 took two years to come to PC and if this does the same, we're talking 7 year old hardware.
Even if the lowest model supported is rx 5700 or 6600, its (barely) still above the minimum requirements this time... and ryzen 5 5600 is actually still pretty good, not as good as am5 CPUs, but pretty good.
yeah they were better optimized in the ps3 era, but the optimization homework assignment for GTA5 was like 200x smaller, and GTA5 had to be done with very specific constructs. game consoles only ran on one FPS plus the hardware gap between the console vs the computer system it’s made on was also a lot smaller. In the PS3 era you were hard capped on level size and how many NPCs and enemies could be on screen
sometimes I wonder if people grasp the sheer scale at which huge cutting-edge AAA games are made, especially the ones that aren’t just filler. You can either Ubisoft copy and paste fetch quests and stock assets, or you can do something like RDR2. it’s honestly sort of a miracle RDR2 only took 8 years to make
