I (20F) have a history of irregular periods, where my cycles can sometimes be short (~20 days) or long (35+ days). I’ve been on and off birth control pills for about 3 years, where I’ve stopped taking it for a few months at a time due to insurance issues. About 6 months ago, I had an ovarian cyst and began taking it again, but stopped for two months bc I couldn’t get my prescription refilled. I started taking it once again, I’m currently on the second week of my second pack, but my last period started 40 days ago. I didn’t get it during the placebo week.
I’m starting to get worried because I have no idea when I will get my period. I feel like I’ve been PMSing for 2 weeks; I’ve had headaches almost daily and a constant feeling of tiredness. This might be due to stress, considering I’m a full time college student with a part time job.
I’m unsure if pregnancy is possible because my boyfriend (20M) and I always use condoms + pulling out. There was ONE time where we didn’t use protection, but he only stuck it in for about 10 seconds and didn’t finish. This was at least a week after I officially started birth control again. There may have been two times in the first month where I missed a pill and took it the day after. I took a pregnancy test two days ago and it was negative.
I’m hoping this is caused by a possible ovarian cyst or just adjusting to birth control again.

What pads are we using? Because I’m trying new ones out because I keep overflowing on my day 1 and 2 and sometimes day 3. I used to use honeypot but it was causing a diaper rash sensation even though I was having to change every 2 hours because I was bleeding through. I’m currently using the Kotex night defense pads but they have honestly sucked the last 2 cycles I’ve used them. (I don’t get the diaper rash sensation so that’s a plus) but I’m still bleeding through in about 2 hours. I’m using the heaviest pads possible. I think I just need a little help lol. I don’t like tampons, they are uncomfortable for me.

I’ve never seen this on the app and honestly it’s kinda confusing me. I use this app to track my periods so I know when my next cycle is, but now it’s telling me I should expect more periods throughout the months when it’s never done this before

Idk if anybody else has this problem but I’m someone who prefers pads over tampons because tampons make my cramps worse and extend my periods, however lately pads have been rubbing my skin raw down there and I’m not sure if its the underwear I’m wearing or maybe the brand of pads ?? (i use rael i boyshort/boxer type underwear) does anyone else have this issue and if so how did you work around it ? last thing i want to do is go back to tampon and bleeding for 8 days

All my menstruating life, (I only wear them to bed and on super heavy days and always pair with a tampon) A Ultra+ tampon won’t last me all night, neither will 2 inserted at once so these are very necessary for me. Also no success with period underwear because they stupidly are made to not absorb in the front. All the padding is in the back where I don’t need any of it. Like men designed it or something.

I’m thinking of getting either Mirena or Nexaplon as a woman going into the military. Can anybody educate me on the pros and cons of both, and which one I should get? Thank you!!

30 years old
Ive always had heavy periods that last a normal 5-6 days, however I've noticed my periods getting more and more spread out, and now I keep getting "periods" that are lasting a month. This last one started September 4th. It stopped for a couple of days, but as I type I'm spotting bright red again. Pregnancy test is negative.
The period is very light to the point I don't even need a pad, but the color varies from fresh to old blood with some clotting. I have 0 cramps. Doctor appointment is next month.
Last time I went to the doctor they tested my hormones and my testosterone was high, everything else normal. It sounds like this might be PCOS or something hormonal. Pap smear also came back clean.
I'm just irritated and stressed out now because I'm scared the lining is building up to much? Or am I just not ovulating? I have no idea what's going on and it's honestly scary. Looking for insight/reassurance.

Hi everyone,
I play sports and have had multiple injuries all my life but never to the current extent. I have to get an MRI for my knee which usually doesn’t mean anything good. So with that in mind I was wondering although it’s not confirmed for myself, has anyone on here ever had to experience going through surgery for your knee or anything like that ever during your period or had to go through the first few weeks of recovery on your period ? How did you deal with it, I’d imagine if it’s an ACL/MCL tear you wouldn’t be able to bend your knee so how you go about things.
I’m just planning ahead incase I do need to buy extra stuff to help me out but does anyone have experience with this ?
Thanks
- a 18 year old who doesn’t know what she’s doing lol

Idk if I’m being stupid but if anyone else uses Flo, I swear no matter how long I’ve used it, it just never gets the length of my period correct? Like it’s always longer than the timeframe that it suggests, and I don’t know why considering how much data it has from my cycle it wouldn’t predict that my period would be longer? Like it usually lasts for like 7 days which I don’t think is insanely unusual, but it just always says it will be 5 days like it can’t even comprehend having a period longer than that. And it’s not like I’ve been inconsistent or anything, I’ve always had 7 day long periods. I’ve been using the app for like 3 years or so now and it just pisses me off that it never changes it to 7 days, like it’s implying that I’m supposed to only have 5 days. I have to edit it manually every time and it’s just irritating. Is this like something I need to change manually? Considering it’s supposed to use the previous data to understand your cycle I really don’t think it should be.

Oh my gosh I had the worst period pains today that last for 5 hours, my usual pain meds would not touch it. I threw up over 5 times! I felt so weak and the pain wasn’t lifting so I called an ambulance because I thought I was dying.
As soon as I called the ambulance, my period pains lifted. I had to call them back to cancel and now my whole family are laughing at me and making jokes that I called the ambulance for period pains 😂😂 I can laugh now I’m out of pain but surely that’s not normal!!

Hi everyone! I’m 33 years old and wondering if anyone has experienced something similar.
My last period started on September 2nd and ended September 8th. Today is October 20th, and I still haven’t gotten my period.
I’ve had some irregular cycles in the past, but they’ve been fairly consistent lately, so this is unusual for me.
I started my weight loss journey in August at 225 lbs and got down to around 207 lbs by early October. I wasn’t following any crazy diet, but I did cut back on soda, fast food, and how much I was eating. Looking back, I probably wasn’t eating proper meals consistently, especially with my busy work schedule.
I’ve also been dealing with quite a bit of stress at work lately.
I’ve experienced occasional cramps, breast tenderness, and that feeling like my period is about to start, but nothing happens. Pregnancy isn’t a possibility.
I’m happy with my weight loss progress, but I’m wondering if the changes in my eating habits and weight could have affected my cycle.
Has anyone else experienced something similar? Did your period eventually return on its own?
Thank you in advance ❤️

ive had a restrictive eating disorder for 3ish years now but i have been weight restored for about a year. my period is very strange and my family is convinved it is from undereating/ malnutrition. i stared taking birth control at the start of this year after i had a period of 50 days of heavy bleeding throughout december 2025 and january 2026 and i needed medication to stop the bleeding. prior to that, the only other period i had in 2025 was at the start of september, so my period has always been super unpredictable and irregular. i decided to stop taking the pill at the end of july this year just to see how things go and i got a very short and light period straight after stopping the pill but nothing since then.
my family is pretty convinced its from under eating. although i dont have the best diet (i eat alot of safe foods that tend to be energy dense but low nutrients), i maintain my weight fine and have no concerns from doctors about the medical side of things.
my blood tests show normal ranges of vitamins, electrolytes and hormones
i did have an ultrasound at the start of the year to try and find a cause for the exessive bleeding but they didnt find anything conclusive, just that i had 25 follicles (im not sure what that really means) and that i have "bulky ovaries" and a tilted uterus
my question is, how can i have no medical signs of malnutrition with normal weight and bloods and still have no period? What is a possible reason for this irregularity? Could this be PCOS?

Does your sleep or energy change before or during your period?
I'm curious about what people find most difficult: feeling tired during the day, having trouble sleeping at night, cramps disrupting sleep, or something else.
What do you usually do when this happens?

Yesterday I went to Germany with a group of friends (all men) to watch a football match. I had my period, but up until then it had only been light bleeding, so I wasn't particularly worried. I was wearing a tampon.
During the first half, I suddenly started feeling like I was bleeding a lot. At half-time I rushed to the bathroom, and when I got there I was absolutely horrified. My entire underwear was covered in blood and there was a huge bloodstain on the crotch of my trousers, around 7 x 15 cm.
I was absolutely mortified. I was the only woman in the group and I couldn't bring myself to tell any of them what had happened. I put my jacket around my waist and tried to keep my handbag in front of me so hopefully nobody would notice.
I honestly have no idea whether anyone saw it. I spent the entire second half worrying about it instead of watching the match, and I ended up crying because I felt so ashamed and embarrassed.
Afterwards I had to walk for about 15 minutes in the rain without my jacket because it was still tied around my waist. Everyone else went for drinks afterwards, but I just went straight to bed.
I know logically that periods are normal and that accidents happen, but I still feel incredibly embarrassed about it.
So please, tell me your most embarrassing period/blood stories. I really need to hear some stories that are much worse than mine so I can put this into perspective and stop feeling so awful about it. 😭

Hej, Ive recently been having intense menstrual side effects. I have an appointment with a doctor but it's in a month so wanted some peer feedback in the meantime.
The pains are mid level cramps and my bowels have always been funky on my period. But recently the pain started 5 days before. I'm having insane inflammation in the joints and swollen muscles. Its constant and mainly focused in my upper legs/knees/feet. My legs feel sour and dehydrated as if I've run a 10km. My feet are tense, and wearing socks is painful and cuts off circulation. I get faint very easily so taking it easy and not going out as much to get more rest. It's really lame and there's things I want to do! The mornings are okay but after lunch it's done and at night everything gets worse.
It's not stress - my stress responses are migraines and I have them under control for the past two years. The migraines first started 2.5 years ago after climbing - my shoulders would tense up and not recover causing stiffness and migraines that lasted for days. I got pills and stopped climbing. It stopped being an issue unless I'm very stressed.
I did running for a few months to loosen up but now I mainly bike, dance and garden and for physical activity.
First I thought this full bodily pains and fatigue was a one off but it's become a pattern and I'm nervous if its related issues and underlying condition. And generally having a long muscle recovery time.
As far as my health goes I'm 26, eat balanced, green, wholegrain and a good amount of protein. I drink coffee and eat a cookie sometimes. I have a good BMI (I know it doesn't cover everything but it's the measure I know) I've been taking ca. 200g supplements of iron the past 3 months because low iron is common in my family.
---
What helps to reduce the pain in the legs? Helpful sleeping positions? And muscle creams maybe?
I read magnesium could help, any experience with that? Should I get a doctor sooner? Does anyone have similar experience leading to a diagnosis?
Happy to hear any tips and tricks xxx
