Discussion CC w/o cross border fee as of May 2024

Updated: July 2025

Hi guys, compiling here the list of credit cards that charge cross border fees (CBF).

Feel free to comment for any updated info. This post will be edited accordingly.

For those unfamiliar: CBF is the additional charge (usually 1%) imposed on overseas transactions billed in PHP. Example, if you’re billed Php 300.00 for a subscription (e.g. Spotify, Netflix, Apple, etc), the amount will be reflected as Php 303.00 instead. This is different from foreign exchange conversion fees, applied on overseas transactions billed in foreign currency, which every CC in the PH currently has (ranges from 1.7-3.5% or so). While 1% CBF seems small, if for example you’re booking hotels and flights, or shopping gadgets online, it’ll be significant. A purchase worth Php 50k would have an additional Php 500.00 charge.

No CBF : - AUB - Bank of Commerce - BDO AMEX - Maya - Maybank - PNB - Zed

Magulong CBF: - RCBC (getting conflicting statements with this; although RCBC states that transactions Php 1k and up have CBF, several people have claimed that they were not charged CFB, myself included, whereas some other people have claimed that they were charged CBF)

With CBF: - BDO (1% all except AMEX) - BPI (1%) - Chinabank (1.7% Destinations World, 2.5% all else) - EW (1%) - HSBC (1% starting Oct. 16, 2025) - Metrobank (1%) - Security Bank (1.5%) - UB (1% starting Sep. 15, 2025)

Thanks guys!

IDRP / Utang Ang hirap talaga pag breadwinner ka.

Hi guys.

Naka one year payment na ko sa IDRP (paying almost 30k a month) for three credit cards. 700k+ utang ko and it became 1M after the IDRP (1.5% interest, 3 yrs to pay). Sana nagpadeliquent nalang ako and nag wait for amnesty loan program. Huhu. Tapos akala ko di na ko makakagamit ng any credit cards, but RCBC card worked, and naka300k plus na agad ako. (So 1M ulit utang ko) From May to October lang yun. Haiys.

Haiys. Ano pwedeng gawin?

IDRP / Utang Needing ₱85k/Month Just to Survive, Excluding ₱200k in Credit Card Debt 😭

Single mom and a breadwinner. I work multiple jobs, barely get any sleep, and I’m exhausted. My sister helps cover some expenses, but I still need around ₱85k a month to keep up with everything.

I have ₱200k in credit card debt and around ₱29k in monthly credit card loan payments for the next 36 months. My other expenses, including Meralco, groceries, school, cats, internet, HMO etc. total around ₱56k a month. (Family of 7, parents doesn't have source of income and have meds for maintenance)

I don’t even have a car, barely buy anything for myself, and never travel. I know I haven’t managed my finances well, but it’s so hard to survive, especially with the uncertainty of freelance job security. Anyone na katulad ko before? Paano niyo nasurvive? Pwede bang sumuko nalang 😭😭 haha pagod na ko, kaso may anak ako.

BPI Hijacked Network. Nice try scammers.

Kaya dapat talaga laging tandaan, DO NOT CLICK LINKS kahit pa galing yan sa legit text/network from bank.

So eto na nga, magkkwento ako.

Oct. 15: I booked flights to Boracay, paid with my BPI CC.

Oct. 19: I paid my CC in full kasi due na on Nov 2.

Oct. 20 (today): Around 2:00 PM, BPI telesales dept was calling me but I didn't answer. Hindi ko sila talaga sinasagot coz every time I pay in full, next day lagi sila tumatawag, maybe to offer a personal loan, ewan. I never answered. The reason I know na legit BPI telesales is because I Googled the number and meron sa website.

Today, around 2:31 PM, I received the text as seen in the screenshot. Ang talino, ginamit talaga ung Cebupac para magpanic ako and to click the link. But nope, I ignored, signed into my BPI app, checked if meron ngang transaction. Wala naman, so I temporarily locked nlng.

Kakaumay lang. Di ko alam kung may insider ba na nagffeed ng info outside or sadyang na-hijack lang ang network nila and they can see all the past transactions na nagtetext si BPI sakin, kasi nung nag-book ako eh meron talagang text, as you can see again in my screenshot. Naiba lang ung language.

So, yun lang! Again, wag kayo magpapanic na mag-click agad. Check nyo muna mga app nyo, kaya nga kayo may app. Will I request a card replacement? Nope. Mas maiistress pako kakahintay sa new card.

TL; DR: DO NOT CLICK LINKS even if provided by legit bank networks.

Secbank cc debt due to partners brain surgery and willing to pay, 90k cc limit and ca is constantino. Tried to negotiate pero ang binibigay nila is 92k to settle in full, parang sobrang laki ng interest aside from that buong sahod ko din ung kinukuha nila

Metrobank / PSBank Metrobank Travel Signature ₱20k Spend

Hello!

Hello reddit, first time CC User here.

Meron po akong x amount due on my Metrobank CC. Nagbayad po ako thru maribank.

Pwede po ba maclarify kung bakit nasa incoming po siya at hindi pa nag rereflect sa last payment/last payment date yung binayad ko?

Literally ba talaga na nasa "incoming" siya? Then supposedly for posting?

Chinabank CBC-SMPC spend requirement

I thought kasama kaya gino ko.

Wala kasi sa T&C or FAQs if included ba installments or straight purchases lang.

Card Recommendation iPlan2Switch from BDOGold to NAFFL Card

Hi everyone, I have a BDO Gold card for a few months (kept inactived for a year). I mostly use it for major purchases (appliances, plane tickets etc). I work overseas and don't use it here. I am able to pay my balances on time as well.

However, to ask for a waived monthly membership fee is a hassle for me (because... who does not want a waived membership fee for life right?) And I cannot physically contact CSR EVERY.MONTH. to ask for a waived fee nor do it every year. ( I am unhappy about this, and I heard BDO is not the most generous to offer naffl promos around.)

So I'm asking your expertise in helping me decide the best way to go.

The switch- I plan to switch to a new card that will honor my credit record with BDO and allow me to:

  1. apply for a naffl credit card with a usable credit limit (around 50k)

  2. If #1 is not possible I'm willing to "spend my way through it"

  3. if that is possible, what is the surefire way to go?

  4. Also are there any banks that alIow me to apply online? As I am unable to physically visit a bank branch nor call csr back home.

One caveat is I am not the biggest spender. My max spending with the card is around 150k in a few months and have paid 95% of it. But I also plan to keep my spending stay that way- manageable and within my budget.

With all these information, I look forward to your recommendations. Thanks for reading the awfully long request. 🙏

TLDR: crowdsourcing

plant to Switch from BDO gold to a good NAFFL card

best way to go?

Main spending: airfare/home purchase/ flexible card

Online applications possible?

BPI BPI CC advise - should I buy?

hi mga ka reddit! need advice lang po! i currently have 1 cc - BPI. im currently in debt of 89k. i am slowly paying the debt at around 5k to 6k a month, with the minimum around 2.9k to 3.1k a month.

ask ko lang if its wise to buy a new phone. for context my old phone (Samsung a05) which i bought for a measly php 5k 2 years ago gave up on me already. i am planning to buy a xiaomi fone around 25k. why the big jump kasi gusto ko na mag invest sa medyo okay na fone since my old one is an entry level fone only.

nag ask around ako and found out that abenson offers the phone at 0% instalment for 24 months.

is this a smart buy ? i dont have problem paying the phone since i calcualted and it will be only like approx 600 per payday cut off so kaya naman siya. my concern is if kahit sinabihan ako ni abenson na 0% intereset for 24 months im afraid if baka lumaki yung finance charges ko. my finance charges were at 3.3k, then it dropped to 3k then now at 2.8k a month.

no hate po and please respect. thank you!!

xPays (Google/Apple/Samsung) Haven't received the google pay 1500 cashback even after 30 days

I used Gotyme to link to my Google pay and I purchased through Shopee kasi my phone cant tap to pay but I made sure my card was subscribed sa visa promo. Purchased an item worth 4k+ on Sept 19, and reflected din sa google wallet transaction ko and until now wala pa rin. To those having the same issue, did you report it and how and where did you report po? Did it help?

Thank you.

Zed Zed Philippines application

Question is this normal after submitting documents after 2 weeks it is still under review?

I deleted the app yesterday since akala ko within 7 days malalaman kung approved or hindi. I applied October 2, a day after I received the code.

I'm thinking declined na, tho it doesnt matter naman if approve or not. Hehehe

P.S.

2nd time applying for it. After a day nag update sila na mag resubmit, same ulit ni upload ako. After 3rd time ni declined. That was earlier this year ata. 🤣 I dont know if isa rin yun sa reason kung bakit hanggang ngayon still on review pa rin?

UnionBank Lazada refund to UnionBank credit card

Post image
0 Upvotes

I canceled this installment transaction on Lazada and the status has been like this since October 17, 2026 (Saturday). Today is October 20. I used my UnionBank U Platinum Mastercard for this. How long will the refund usually take based on your experiences? I want the refund to reflect before my statement date on October 23. Does it take longer if the transaction is installment?

UnionBank How to pay my CC bill when I don't have the card details

Context: I signed up for an S&R VISA PLATINUM Credit Card last year but I did not activate it. I did not throw the card out but it's now missing.
Last month, my S&R membership automatically renewed with the Card. I also received the SOA but I don't have the card number so I can't pay it.

What I've tried:
1. I called their customer service. They advised to go to the branch and coordinate it there.
2. I went to a nearby branch and they said they can't do that. They gave me the contact number of Collections.
3. I called Collections and they said they also cannot do that and directed me back to CS.
4. I tried creating a ticket in the UBP app but I can only choose from registered accounts (I have a savings account). My CC is not registered in the app.
5. I tried sending an email but I can't find an email address in the website.
6. I tried reporting it as stolen via call but they require the card details.

Anyone else have any idea what I can do?
