A 2 Million Dollar Bugatti Veyron parked in a mobile home park. This guy either has it all figured out, or nothing figured out at all. There’s no in between.

I would much rather go all in $20k on fixing up a few years old trailer and park it for $300/month than spend $800/month living in a shitty apartment I don't like.

I have a friend that I like to describe two different ways. First I tell people they "live in a trailer with 6 cats" sorta as a joke, then I clarify that they're actually a cat breeder with a vet medicine degree making crazy money breeding Siamese kittens from 5 moms at 800 a pop. I can't imagine how much they are putting away considering they have a pretty decent job too.

Breeders are bad people. We don't need breeders. Millions of cats and dogs are intentionally killed every year because we have too many of them and not enough people to provide care for them. Please try to discourage them from continuing this endeavor. It's easy money, of course, but it's literally profiting from the pain and suffering of animals.

Breeders are not inherently bad people. There are definitely bad breeders out there, but it's silly to suggest we should stop breeding healthy, pure breeds of cats and only allow people to own cats that were born as strays or by accident.

And this is coming from someone with four foster cats.

Why should we allow it though? Give me a logical argument as to why it's something that should be allowed and encouraged?

The most obvious reason is because without breeders we wouldn't have purebreds anymore. We could essentially lose some rare breeds.

Another reason it is very important to have legal regulated breeders is because without them, the market will be wide open to illegal breeders, with zero standards or rules. History has shown prohibition pretty much always leads to an increase in crime.

Then there is of course the fact that if we only allow people to get pets at shelters or pets that have been bred illegally, pretty soon it will become very hard to obtain a pet. Where do you think these shelter pets are coming from after all? It's not like stray dogs are out there breeding like crazy in the wild.

If you still cant see why breeding should be discouraged I'm just going to assume you are some PETA troll who believes humans should never own pets period.

Is the world somehow better off with "purebred" animals? Purebred pets, at least with dogs, are more likely to have genetic issues inherited. These "purebreds" aren't something that occurred naturally in the wild, so it isn't the same as a species going extinct. This is purely for human amusement.

The market is already wide open to unregulated breeders flooding the market, with zero standards of rules. Most jurisdictions do not have regulations in place that allow the prevention of low quality breeding. This isn't about legal prohibition. This is about people who aren't scumbags intentionally choosing not to create more pets for profit. The scumbags are still going to exist and operate just like they do currently.

It should be very hard to obtain a pet. People should have to work for it. Pet ownership is not easy or cheap. That's exactly the problem we have. Too many people lay out some cash and take home their new shiny pet and then it comes time to move and they can't find a pet friendly rental so the animals get sent to the shelters. Sometimes they just get dropped into the nearest river or into a garbage can or abandoned on the side of the road.

Stray animals are absolutely producing pets on their own. I'm not sure at this point if you are being serious or not. It is more of an issue with cats than dogs, but of course stray dogs are making babies and pets escape from their yards and get knocked up all the time.

I think it is fine for people to own pets, I do not think it's fine that people believe they have a right to own pets. It's a privilege and needs to be treated as such. When you see what many countries do to their stray animals to keep the populations in check, I hope you would agree. Animals literally crushed and drowned by the thousands.

When we run out of pets to adopt in shelters and from other countries, we can talk about breeding. For now, that isn't a problem. Animals are being killed and you don't seem to care at all.

and you don't seem to care at all.

I'm writing you off as a lunatic.

0

u/Sunryzen Jan 12 '19

Why? You are the one trying to justify the killing of millions of cats and dogs in the USA alone every year so that people can have easy access to whatever breed of dog or cat they want whenever they want. That's pretty sick. Why specifically do you think I am a lunatic?

This is such an ignorant comment it's hilarious.

0

u/Sunryzen Jan 11 '19

Because.... finish your argument.

0

u/DrThunder187 Jan 12 '19

Considering how many debate faux pas there were in your original comment you aren't worth the time, plus you seem like the type of person that's already made up their mind.

0

u/Sunryzen Jan 12 '19

I mean, it seems like a subject where it's pretty easy to make up your mind. If you are for millions of pets being euthanized every year, you should support breeding. If you are against millions of pets being euthanized every year, you should be against breeding. Seems fairly clear to me. We have too many animals and not enough homes.

0

u/DrThunder187 Jan 12 '19

Yes, exactly proving my point thank you. Regardless of the subject, if you can only see the benefits of one side of an argument, you are a blind idiot. If something seems "clear to you" but it's something people are constantly arguing about, you don't have it "all figured out", you're just an idiot who thinks they're smarter than everyone. It's almost as bad as being a conspiracy theorist, trotting around on a high horse boasting about aliens or ghosts or whatever being 100% real.

There are many pros and cons to adopting, there are many pros and cons to buying from a breeder, but like I already called it you have made up your mind based on one single factor apparently.

Just curious, the human race is over populated also, do you bitch at women who get pregnant too?

Edit: You should look into joining a high school debate team, you could learn a lot from people still in 10th grade I think.

u/Sunryzen Jan 12 '19

I am not bitching at breeders. Yes, people have too many children they can't care for. If you cannot provide for the care of your children, and you intentionally have more children knowing you cant provide for them yourself, you are a bad person. Stop making babies you can't care for, and stop making animals you can't care for. The world is worse off because of people doing this. People suffer. Animals suffer.

You haven't provided any pro to buying from a breeder that OUTWEIGHS the cons of overpopulation of pets. Having a purebred doesn't make it worth the millions of pets killed each year.

1

u/DrThunder187 Jan 12 '19

If you can't think of a good reason to go to a breeder, that doesn't make breeders bad, that just makes you ignorant. Everyone else picked up on this and downvoted you. It's hilarious because it's the same mindset as racists and homophobes.

I don't like gay people!

Why?

Because I just don't get it, ya know?

Well maybe you should educate-

NAAAAAAAAH no time for that, just gonna keep not liking them.

Seriously if you don't like something because you can't understand it go fuck off. I'm just going to block you at this point cause I don't need any more proof, you're close minded and you have no clue what a real argument looks like. It's obvious you are too young to have any real life experience.

Reposters are bad people. We don't need reposters. Millions of memes are intentionally killed every year because we have too many of them and not enough redditors to provide upvotes for them. Please try to discourage them from continuing this endeavor. It's easy karma, of course, but it's literally profiting from the skill and creativity of OC.

Realistically this is probably just a holiday home on a lake or something.
