I think one thing I have to commend Qatar as a smoker myself, is how inconvenient it has become to purchase cigarettes.
Does anyone know which licensed stores still sell them? I know baqalas sell them but would rather buy them from licensed stores

It has been a month since I moved here, and honestly, I have never felt this lonely before.
Although this is not my first time living abroad, I don't know why Qatar feels so much heavier than the other countries I have lived in.
I have been busy working six days a week, with only 32 hours off each week, which leaves me with barely enough time or energy to do anything else.
I have absolutely no friends here (I don't count everyone at job as my friends), and because of my past experiences, I've developed trust issues that make it difficult for me to open up to new people.
I've also been diagnosed with depression, which makes adjusting more harder for me.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how make it less lonely for me?

Its really sad to see that there is a lot of restrictions regarding us marrying Non Qataris or vice versa, it should be plain and simple especially if the 2 people marrying each other are muslims why should there be a rule for this even?
Some People would justify this rule saying it just exits to keep the Qatari Identity from being lost, but lets be honest ! every Qatari tribe comes from an origin whether they where originally from Saudi or Yemen or even Iran with some other Qataris being originally Palestinian or Sudani or any other country, My point is we can't say someone is purely Qatari and we cant preventing keeping that pure qatari identity as some people claim cause it has mixed already!
Like between us we all know the origin of each others tribes and we are technically not all pure Qataris at the end of the day, some would say well I was here before 1930 so I am a pure Qatari(well your family probably came from somewhere else in the end) but that doesnt matter what matters mainly and my main point is: if 2 muslims want to marry each other regardless of nationality and the father of the girl agrees then no one not even the law should restrict this in any way shape or form.
A lot of marriages that could have potentially happened have been ruined because such rules exist and honestly it feels haram to even exist cause islam allows it so why restrict it?
So please, I need everyones help in this matter, I am a Qatari man in My early 30s and I am trying to marry my future wife In Sha Allah in their late 20s and she is Arab and muslim and has been born here and is very familiar with our culture and I have been struggling for about 4 years now to get the ministries acceptance and this process has been really hard for both of us and for many people as well facing this same issue !
So Recently Qatar’s Ministry of Justice has introduced a platform allowing the public to provide feedback on existing legislation.
This is an opportunity for us to discuss Law No. 21 of 1989, which regulates marriage to foreigners, and whether it should be amended or repealed.
I will post the link here for you to submit your opinion regarding this law. Please sign in to your Tawtheeq and explain your circumstances. This may be something that can help us all. After pressing on the link, please refer to the photo to see how you can submit a letter and please make sure that your personal profile is updated with your ID and phone number. Please submit a letter under all 3 laws.
If you are unable to type it in Arabic, Chat GPT will help you create a letter based on your circumstances.

Hello all, where do yall get good wings that aren't fried? I'm not a fan of the typical places that sell chicken where it just lacks seasoning overall (like the grill places basically). Looking for something similar to how nandos makes their chicken/wings

I’m a fairly new female driver looking to rent a car on a monthly basis to build up my confidence before buying.
Which rental services are the most reliable and hassle-free for beginners, and what’s the typical monthly price range I should expect for a basic car?
Any other suggestions would be appreciated

Why are shops in Doha refusing to sell to you unless you give them your phone number?
A few days ago, I went to buy a gold bracelet at a store in Doha. I had the money, my ID, and my passport. Despite that, they refused to sell it to me unless I gave them my phone number.
Throughout the whole process, they kept asking for it. First, when I wanted to know the price. Then again after we agreed on the purchase. Eventually, at the payment stage, it became a condition: no number, no bracelet.
Why? Why does buying something from a shop mean I have to hand over my contact details?
This feels like an increasingly common issue with private companies and retailers here. We already deal with scam texts and calls, and I’m uncomfortable with how casually businesses collect our information without explaining why they need it, who can access it, or how it’s protected.
I’m not claiming this particular shop is selling anyone’s data. My concern is that every additional company holding it is another place where it could be leaked, misused, or accessed by someone who shouldn’t have it. Whether that happens through a security flaw or an employee abusing their access, the customer is left dealing with the consequences.
And the worst part is that you don’t really get a choice when they make it a condition of buying something. If there’s an actual requirement for a purchase like gold, explain what it is and why my ID and passport aren’t enough. If it’s for a customer profile, marketing, or loyalty points, I should be able to decline.
Has anyone else experienced this in Doha? Does anyone know whether a phone number is actually required for gold purchases, or whether this is just store policy?
Edit: I used an llm to layout the argument for discussion. That doesn't mean just because I used an llm that I don't care for myself or the elderly people in my community to be scammed. The goal of this post isn't to just complain or to find a solution. The goal of it is for us as a community to have a discussion on this real phenomenon that is new to this country. I'm 34 I was born and raised here and one thing about this place is that change always starts with the community not by mindless complaints. I hope we can discuss how we can get these companies to stop this abuse. One complaint by a Palestinian immigrant doesn't make a difference but a community of people aware of these businesses and shady practices and denying them access to their numbers as well as teaching the elderly and uninformed around us will really put a dent in all these spam calls we are all getting.

Hi guys,
We (employees working at a tower in Lusail) used to park in the Fifa free zones (the empty patches of land) but they have been closing one by one and the road side parkings are usually full.
Right now there are no more free zones available and the paid metro parkings will cost like 10% of our monthly salary.
The tower itself is also charging us about 700 a month to park, so we are a bit confused and lost on what to do. Parking further away is also not convenient due to the distance and heat.
Consider this as just a rant. It would have been lovely if the city was planned with more parking spaces in mind.

Hi everyone,
I have seen quite a few posts saying that Qatar is not issuing A3 visas to Pakistani citizens who hold U.S. Green Cards. Is this actually true?
I have already applied and am still hoping for some good news. Has anyone with a Pakistani passport and a U.S. Green Card recently received an A3 visa approval?
If anyone has any suggestions or personal experiences to share, I would really appreciate it.
Thank you in advance for your help!

Has anyone ever called Ashghal or the police to complain about noisy roadworks in a residential area late at night? Did they actually do anything or ask the workers to stop?
They’re digging right in front of our building, and it’s already 1 AM, but the work is still ongoing. Just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience and whether reporting it actually helped.
At this point, should I just consider it “music to my ears”? 😂

Hello everyone,
I am currently working a 9-5 job and find it incredibly difficult to cook home meals every day. Because I am always on the go, I struggle to eat healthy, which often results in eating low-quality meals or binging at night because I am not fully satiated during the day.
I initially wanted to subscribe to a curated fitness meal plan (like Calo or Dieture) to help me lose weight, eat clean, and increase my protein intake. However, these commercial corporate plans are highly expensive, ranging from QAR 1,500 to QAR 2,000 monthly. Honestly, ordering takeout every day or buying premium groceries doesn't even cost that much!
Because of this, I am looking for a budget-friendly alternative, such as a tiffin lady, a local mess service, or a home-cooked food business that can prepare and deliver healthy meals to my location on a monthly subscription basis. Of course, regular monthly payment will be provided, but I am working within a specific budget.
