Article Wow [SFGaAdv] is really struggling. Joker and Nitro incidents now
What are your guys thoughts on this? I rode Joker and I can see something happening to a smaller person and they aren't completely stapled to the seat with the restraints. It's the one kind of ride I always make sure I have the restraints down as far as possible so I'm not getting constantly knocked around.
As for Nitro, its very unclear here what happened. My take from it is that really nothing happened and someone just thought a lap bar wasn't locked? Either way, after the 2 incidents they've already had this season, this year is turning into a disaster for this park. Thank God I went when I did 3 days before the El Toro derailment.

My favourite new coaster element of 2021 is hyperbole.

This really just looks like a press pileup, Toro got their attention and now they're just looking to milk the situation for clicks.

Considering not a single person has ever been seriously injured let alone killed by a restraint failure on a b&m in their 30 years of operation across millions and millions of riders on each of their rides... Pretty sure this wasn't anything serious. Also given the fact that it's in New Jersey which is the most ridiculous over the top amusement regulation in the industry, again I'm sure it wasn't anything serious.

My head got smacked against the headrest every time the car flipped when I rode Joker at SFGAm, so I would say GAdv's version is operating as designed, unfortunately.

My head got wrecked and I threw out my neck on Batman the Ride at SFFT. Thought I had recovered but I just had to end my day at SFOT early because I reaggravated my neck on Pandemonium. I don’t think I will ever ride one of those things again, it just shouldn’t be that easy to fuck up your neck on a roller coaster.

I will say that I got a concussion on The Batman free spin at SFFT when I was like 18. The person who had been sitting in the seat before me was quite larger than me and the op didn’t tighten my restraints properly, so every time my seat flipped, I was violently slamming my head into the chair. However, that’s an op error not a ride error and every other ride I’ve had on that free spin has been great. I would imagine the Joker is similar.

Ya this is exactly what I was thinking happened. Like I said in my previous post I've only rode it once and no other free spins, but that is the one ride where I made absolutely sure the restraints were as tight as possible. I didn't think I was going to like it but I wanted to try it and to be honest I was pleasantly surprised. Its not something I would want to marathon but it's a fun unique experience.

Yeah I knew from the moment the ride started that time that I was in for a rough go, because I had far too much wiggle room for comfort. I also didn’t think I would like this ride but surprisingly really enjoyed it- I think because it’s a different experience every time you ride it. I feel the same way as you, I wouldn’t marathon it but it’s enjoyable.

Ran across this article on Facebook, and goodness gracious were those comments a disaster. I don’t like the “dumb GP” stereotype but when people are spreading plain old disinformation it’s bad.

Ya my initial reaction is some idiot made a comment about the lap bar maybe because there was a little bit of space between her and the bar but not enough to click it down one more time and she just decided to ruin the party for everyone. The joker thing though, i mean im sure the ride was operating normally in a sense but I dont think there's anything the kid could have done to cause this himself. Perhaps like I said in the original post, the ride ops just didn't staple him down enough and he was being rocked around and smashed his head at some point.

First of all why are kids riding Joker? A little intense for them don’t you think?

It depends on the kid. My home park is BGT and one time I was riding Kumba and the 2 people next to me were father and son. The kid was super young must have barely made the height limit. I was thinking this is a pretty intense ride for someone that young. We went through the course and hit the brakes and I heard his father ask him what he thought. The kid replies "It was good, but I liked Montu better."

My daughter is 6, just barely 48", and it's her favorite ride in the park. (Well, at least until Jersey Devil opened.)

Anyone else see the article saying that guests saw the seats on Orion "fly off!" when in reality it was just a water test dummy

I’d honestly advise anyone planning a visit to Great Adventure who’s coming from a far distance to wait till next year.

Sound like normal occurrences and guests overreacting. Both rides were operating properly from what it seems. The news is desperate for attention.
