It’s hard to tell from just the top-down view but these actually look like wild type neocaridina to me! A side view would be helpful, but I’m pretty certain from what I can see here that these aren’t Palaemon paludosus.
This is not Palaemon paludosus (North American ghost shrimp), or Macrobrachium lanchesteri (whisker shrimp). If you pull up pictures of either of those species you’ll see a lot of striking differences.
Idk how much you paid for these but they’re almost certainly just wild type neos. They’re probably worth almost nothing (in a $ sense) but they’re hardy and cute in their own way. Certainly not what you paid for though, I would not buy from this seller again.
Oh I have and love red Cherries, I have a Skittle tank and a red cherry only tank for them but i kinda wanted something different in the red cherry only tank BUT I didn't want to make another Skittle and lose all my Red Cherries in a few years, i guess I'll just add them in my Skittle tank, thanks
I am going to do an experiment with my white snowballs. They are Palmata and not Davidi. I added 6 over a year ago to 12 blue jellies and 6 bloody Mary’s and I have a ton of white snowballs. A few blue jellies, and haven’t seen my bloody Mary’s in many months. If my snowballs are breeding with my other colors it isn’t much. I have a lot of red, blue, and cobalt rilis. Probably more than my wilds. I have an established 20 gallon with a group of skittles only. I want to get somehow get every shrimp out of there and into my 55 gallon main tank. Add really young snowballs, see that they only make more snowballs. Then add another color in. See if they mix. People on Reddit have told me they do, and people have told me they don’t. Google says they do.
And that's actually so weird that they sold neos as ghost shrimp to you. Most places I've seen that do sell ghost shrimp list them cheaper than neos anyway so like. What is the point of the false advertising?
Tbf, I did kinda risk it with this title "and Transparent Shrimps" the reviews didn't help (they don't know better) and the seller/shop is all automated so I risked it with how cheap it is, I thought there would at least be 1 or 2 Ghost Shrimps in there even if the seller didn't bother differentiating, turns out they were all Neocardina 😮💨
Look at the way they graze, whiskers dont graze like that 🤭
I'm not sure how ghost shrimps search for food because i never had any, but neos definitely graze like that!
Also if u ever get whisker shrimp, dont add it to your tank if it has peaceful fish & shrimp, they will be hunted(learned the hard way because i thought i got ghost shrimp too 😭)
